Water

Mum has been reading advice online about giving cats water. Lots of places say to move the water bowl well away from the food, as pussycats like a clean water source.

Mum moved my bowl into the lounge, so she can keep an eye on my drinking, and she reckons I am slurping down more water than I used to, which makes her happy.

  1. Good advice! I wonder if this is true for dogs too??! I might do this experiment also :-)

  2. We read that recently too, it makes a lot of sense! We've always had them separate, just by chance rather than design.

  3. My water bowl is close to the food but I don't mind, I drink plenty. I also yell at dad if my bowl gets a bit low.

  4. My Mom also read that and found it interesting, though she hasn't moved my bowl yet. I do have a habit of asking for water when she takes her shower, but I like to drink it from a tin bathroom cup.

  6. My Trouper gets very upset if his bowl is empty. He moves it right across the room! So, I make sure it's always full rather than let him throw his doggie tantrum... ;)

  7. We've had our water elsewhere in the house, away from our food, for several years now. Our human still never sees Annie drink--ever--but then, Annie eats almost entirely a canned diet.

We're glad moving the water to a different location is helping you drink more, Poppy. Some cats like fountains, but we never went near ours, so our human gave up on it.

  8. Yep, and we just got a fountain, way cool too!

  9. Good advice? I'm glad Poppy drinks enough.

  10. You look so cute -- upside down!
I like my bowl right next to my food. Mom gives me fresh water every day from a gallon bottle she buys at the store. My dishies hold a lot more, since I got doggie dishes for my birthday.

  11. What a lovely picture of you today! Mom just moved our water bowl this weekend as it used to be next to our food bowl and King, the idiot that he is, drops kibbles in the water bowl!

  14. How nice of her. I bet this is why we all like the bowl up in the bedroom better than the one downstairs.

  15. Slurp away, Poppy! We Cats need to keep our kidneys healthy and bladders happy. We have our water bowls away from our food, too.

  16. Hi Popps! I was going to chime in on this one. A long time ago when I was still young, my two older brothers and I didn't drink much water. Once Mama moved the water dish, everyone started drinking more. She's done it that way ever since. I think you mum is definitely on to something!

    Love your pic!

  17. Oh Poppy...mom has a water bowl next to my food bowl in the kitchen and I drink from that every day but she also put one on the floor in the bathroom and I drink from that even more. Mom keeps a close eye out to make sure I am drinking enough and not too much.

  18. we drink a bit from ours (we have two dotted about), but we love most follwing around Mrs H when she goes to basins. We have a rota of slurping from every tap that runs. Great one Poppy. Love Darcy and Bingley xx

  19. Yeah, we did this a yeah or so ago. I like it better too. And my most favourite water source is my outdoor ice cream bucket.

  20. Mum has three water bowls for us. One in her bathroom, one up on the kitchen counters and one near the food bowls. Mum says the ones that are emptied the most are the two on the counters.

Mum read the same thing but has always had extra bowls about.

  21. Interesting. I'm going to have to ask for a few more bowls around the place.

  22. Our water is right next to our food and we're OK with that. Mom sees us all drinking. Myself, I prefer lots of ice cubes in my water and I like to dip my paw in and play.

  23. We never heard that. Our water is beside our food, too.

  24. Be glad you are safe and sound far away from my assistant assistant boss, who is threatening to smooch the underside of any unprotected cat-chins!

  25. PS drink your waters so you can be nice and healthy. Maybe you need a special cup like mine?
