Caturday

This is a photo from last Caturday when we had some sunshines.  Our Caturday today is very rainy and quite cold.  Our town is clearing up after the big storm.  Around 30,000 homes lost power, but our house was ok, and the good thing is that nobody got killed.  The other good news is that yesterday was our winter solstice and the shortest day.  So three months of winter to get through and the days will get longer in the climb towards spring.

The mumster and I slept in.  Mum thought that she should brave the rain and rugged up, she headed into the local shops to go to the library to get a pile of books and some more groceries.  She bought a lotto ticket and a subway sandwich for lunch - nice little Caturday treats!!!

So back home with the heater on and a few chores to do round the house.  Mum has a new book to start and I have some snoozing to do.

  10. What a blessing that nobody was killed. Freakish weather all over the planet.

I sold another boat-load of books at the yard sale today. I only read on my kindle anymore and it was time to cull lots more books. The only actual books I still have are the few I haven't read yet or am saving for my nephews. And my audio books of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit! I love re-listening to those at least once a year! :)

    Stay bundled up, ladies!

  11. So happy you are safe! We couldn't believe the wind speeds you had yesterday...after Mommy converted them for us. We are hopelessly outdated.

  12. We're glad there were no serious injuries or worse, Poppy.

I've been watching our news, and the province of Alberta (parts of it) have been utterly devastated by flooding. One area got 215 mm of rain in just a couple of days, I believe, but of that 105 mm fell in two HOURS. Hundreds of thousands have been affected, it's not like anything we would normally see here in Canada.

    Scary.

I must do a post and ask if anyone keeps an evacuation bag handy....

  13. Poppy darling we have been worried about you and mom Julie in all that stormy stff down there! It is stormy in Germany also and we think the world is upside down in the weather department these days. Please stay warm and cozy and keep things on hand in the food pantry incase your power goes out...CAT FUD!!! of course! We are super lazy and enjoying the summer with Cole visiting...it has been cilly and rainy here in the desert and that never happens!!! Like I said about the weather....crazy all over. Mommy loves it because it reminds her of Germany....she still gets homesick after all these years:)
We treasure you....the cozy cottage cats!
