Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year my lovely friends.  We hope you all have a fabulous 2015.  Last night mum and the besties braved the bracing wind and rain, and all the young people and went to a bar!!!  One that served tasty food and mocktails, which they enjoyed at old people eating time of 6pm and then went to the movies to see the Hobbit.  It was at an arthouse cinema, which basically means a cinema for the 40 plus year olds  which is good as it is stocked up with quiet treats (icecream but no chips or popcorn) and has plenty of toilets.

The hobbit was so so.  In fact mums friend complained about her 3-D glasses which weren't working too well, so mum gave her her good ones and then watched most of the movie without them.  It was all a bit self indulgent battle stupidity and mum was most moved by the short film prior to the main feature which was a little thank you to NZ from the hobbit actors themselves.  Hard to believe that it has been part of our lives for 13 years, especially as a lot of it was filmed in the city where we live.

So the mum was home by 11pm and stayed up to midnight then snuck off to bed with me.  Hoorah!!!

Today was lovely, full of sunshine so washing was on the line, the microwave was cleaned and mum tackled a bit more of her book.  So a bit more reading tonight and tomorrow -such a relaxing way to spend time off!

Hope you all get time to spend with your loved ones too!!  Wishing you all wonderful things for the year ahead and thanks for joining us on this journey!

  8. Your human had LOTS more fun than mine on New Years Eve. She and her boyfriend popped off to a bar for about 45 minutes to ring in the new year, and then they came back home and she WORKED on the computer until about 3! I'm a night owl and she was even keeping ME up!

Happy 2015 - I hope it is a great year for you and your human!

  13. I like the idea of quiet food in a cinema. I like the idea of quiet patrons better! I liked "The Lord of the Rings". The two parts of "The Hobbit" that I've seen were adequate but they should never have drawn it out to a six or seven hour story. That required a large amount of padding that was never in the book. I'll watch the final part but I expect it to be, as you write, 'so so'.

But it's fun watching a movie with friends anyway. Happy new year!
