Return to Winter

Winter has been a bit mild this year, with the occasional downpour and chilly days as snow clouds pass over our city.  We enjoyed lots of sunshine last weekend, and mum was able to get washing dried on the outside washing line.  Today though the newscasters are warning us of a big chill heading up from the chilly South Island.  Mum has put the blankies back on the bed and turned on the heaters.

Luckily too mum was on call last night, and only had to get out of bed once.  Home just after 2.30am she managed to get some sleep from about 4am.  So she is feeling ready to head to bed soon.  Just a few chores to do before then.  Me - well I ran out from the bedroom when mum got home tonight just after 5pm.  I begged for my feast and then took myself back to bed at 6pm.  What can I say?  It's winter and I'm hibernating.

Winter smooches!

  1. We think we'd like your kind of winters, Poppy. (Though it would take enduring a Canadian winter to appreciate a NZ one. LOL.)

    Stay warm and cosy!

  3. Poppy, dear, it's summer here and all the cats are estivating -- which is very similar to hibernating, except one does it in front of a fan instead of a heater.

  9. We wish it was hibernating weather out here on the West Coast Poppy. Today was the 1st day in 2 weeks were the temps. reached 100 degrees F. Mom even pulled a sheet up over her last night since there was a cool breeze. The weather guru says we will be cooling down to the high 80s in a week. We are sick of the hots, so we hope their prediction is right. Our mom told us that maybe she should get our furs shaved off since the summers are hotter every year. We had to tell her that our furs insulate us from some of the heat so she would forget about that burd brained idea. You seem to be doing a great job of hibernating & chowing down on the Feast Poppy. Keep it up & your should survive the winter in great shape, although that four letter word (DIET) may come back to haunt you this spirng (TeeHee). Smoochies right back at ya!

  10. Keep warm Poppy! Snuggle up with your mum to keep her warm too. We are finally having some hot weather here and mum took the down duvet off the bed for the first time this year. From Jessica
