New Digs

These are photos of the new place - another old place and a downstairs half of a house so more new noises to get used to.

We were asked about the new landlord.   Well our current landlady is keen to have the house listed by the 23rd of Feb.   Yhen if it sells you are given 42 days notice if you have to leave.  Mum has two holidays booked in March and lots of weeks working between then and now.

The house might sell to a new landlord or to someone who would move in themselves or it might not sell, although the housing market is going crazy at the moment.  Mum had just thought she should begin the process and did not expect to find somewhere on Sunday.   She is nervous that she has made a good decision.   At the moment though she wanted to the best thing for us, so that we could stay together.

So fingers crossed it will also work out for us.  She has booked movers so doesn't have too much else to organise.

News

Well things have happened fast round here.  Mum went and saw a place yesterday, and the landlord rang last night and offered it to her.  So we have a new place and are moving in 3 weeks.

The real estate market in our city has gone bonkers , both for buying and rentals.   10 years ago people would advertise their home for rent, you could turn up and if you were presentable you could pick or choose which place you would like.

Now places get listed on line, 80 people will show up and the landlord has their choice of who they want.  Our cities paper said last week that this year there are 50% less listing service than last year.  Of the 70 places listed only 2 would allow pets too.

Our new place has a garden for me to dig around in and sleep in and we are allowed to put a cat door in.  It gets a lot more afternoon sun too.

Thanks for crossing your paws for us.

Resting

I got lots of rest today, which is good for me.  These times of mega stress for mum make her eating and sleeping a bit hard.  She is on call too, so that does not help.

Hope you all had a lovely Sunday and got lots of snoozing done.

House Caturday

Somebuddy was asking about the houses on our street after yesterdays post.  Our house is the one in the top picture behind the big bushes.  We are up 50 steps the middle one of 7 houses on our st.  Unfortunately it looks like leaving this place is now on the cards.  Our landlord texted last night to say she is going to sell.

So it has been a stressful 24 hrs for mum as it is a tricky time of year.   There are lots of people looking for homes and students are all returning to university increasing the competition.   She doesn't know what our plans will be.  So please forgive us if we miss some days, as soon much will need to be organized.

We hope you are all having a nice Caturday.

Neighborhood Posse

Mum was just walking to our house and found the neighbors all lined up at the next door house.  It made laugh to see them all on guard.

Yesterdaywas just my senior check at the vets.  So far so good with just a repeat blood test and teeth cleaning to look forward to now.

V-E-T

Yesterday mum had the great pleasure of taking me to the vets.  I almost got away with not going as I ran away and hide in the neighbors garden.  But with 15 minutes to spare, I got too close and boom - Mum did the grab and shoved me into the cat carrier.

My vet is lovely,  and I was a good girl.  I got shaved in two places.  Once in my neck for a blood test and then in my trouser pants for a cat Brazilian.   Mum will keep my dignity and not show you photos of that.  Let's just say it is much breezier and tidy round that end now.

Ohhh and good news.  I have lost 300gr - it has only taken 6 years.

I have to get my teeth done which has been on hold for a couple of years as I have a heart murmur.   But it might be done in March when I go to the cattery.

Mum was surprised that I was extremely smoochy last night and snuggled all night with her.

Tuesday Chilling

After having Monday off mum was back to work.  She got  called in 2x last night and got home at 2am.  A few hours sleep , breakfast and a shower and off to work at 11am.  The day was sunny, but by dinnertime the clouds are gathering for our next batch of bad weather.

So mum needs to rush round and get the chores done, so she can chill out with me.

Grey Cat Couch Day

Today is a public holiday in our city, so mum and I got a sleep in.  She had chores the to do, and even though the clouds let a little blue in this afternoon it was not enough to get the washing dried.  Mum has to do call tonight so is getting tea organised now at 4pm, so she has time to eat and get the leftovers cooled, to be put into the fridge for tomorrow.

Me - well I am chilling on the couch, watching all the goings on.

More Rain

With the 2nd storm in 5 days upon us, mum donned her winter boots and jacket and went and met a bestie.  The girls went and had some lunch then went to see Lion at the cinema.  It was a lovely movie that brought a tear to mums eye and she thinks it is a 5/5 watch.

Oh can you see in mums photo where the city pigeon was sheltering from the horrible rain this evening?

Kitten Love Caturday

Mum went to visit some friends yesterday and stayed the night, coming back home today.  She met these two guys - George and Louie.   Taking kitten photoswas hard says mum, as they were non stop moving around.

I had made myself a nest on mums jacket on the couch.   I was happier to get the fancy feast than to see mum.

Hope you are having a fun Caturday!!

Designer Clouds

Last night after the mumster posted about blue skies, more clouds rolled in.  She thought that they looked like something that Designers Guild would use on their fabrics.

Blue Skies Are Back Baby

Our weather bomb was a bit wet - haha! We had a real windy night and this morning had pouring rain and 150km winds.  Mum bundled up in her coat and got to work safely.  Apparently by 11am skies were clearing and it was a nice afternoon, so much so I went back outside and stretched out into the meadow.

Mum says I must have been a bit freaked out as when she woke up in was all snuggled up next to her.  I needed an extra cuddle in the morning too.

Weather Bomb

Apparently there is a "Weather Bomb" heading our way with a big parcel of wind and rain from across the Tasman.  Mum went out and got the chores done after work so that everything is organised and she doesn't have to do it tomorrow.

We are sure whatever weather we get is nothing compared to how chilly it is in the Northern Hemisphere.   We just don't seem to get more than two fine days in a row. Traditionally February has good weather, just as the kids head back to school.

Monday Meadowing

This afternoon mum finished work at 3pm and came home to open the doors and windows to let the breezes in.  She grabbed her phone to take these pictures of me in my meadow.  We thought our wintering friends will enjoy them.

Bag Lady Caturday

Last night mum was determined to find a tshirt she had misplaced before the summer is over. After 200 things were pulled from the wardrobe, she found it in the drawers.   She found this lovely big bag which I claimed it as my own.

So then mum did not get much sleep as I rolled over all night.

So today she went out to meet a friend for the movies, only find out that she had booked the tickets for Thursday by accident.   The tickets were all sold out, but mums friend organised some in town and the went and saw Lala Land which they did enjoy.

When they  came out of the cinema it was raining and cold, so the went to a cheap Malaysian restaurant for rice and Satay.

Mum was glad to get home after a big day out.  I was glad to see her, I have meowed lots at her until she fed me my feast, and have now rushed back onto my bag.

Friday Funny

We found this one on the Internets but have lost the name of who drew it.  Anyway it is true.   I drink out of a glass on mums side table.

Today was mums day off so we had a sleep.  The washing machine worked overtime as mum got the loads out on the line even including her work sandals which were rather stinky.

She had a yummy chicken salad sandwich for lunch and then went for a walk.  She did a few jobs and then went to the library before heading home.  So now us girls are chilling out getting ready for Caturday.

Try Something New Thursday - New Wallet

Mum loved her bird wallet.  She had it for about 5 years, but finally it was beginning to fall apart.  Mum us trying to tidy up and clear out cupboards of stuff that has accumulated.   She was lucky though as a good friend gave her this beautiful new wallet as a gift.
Guess what?  It is called the Poppy Wallet!!  She is getting used to it and has thrown her old bird wallet out.

Summer Garden

We were watching the news tonight and it showed all the snow in Europe and the United States  - you guys must be chilly.   So we thought you might like to see some pictures of the flowers in our garden.  I am in the bottom photo - can you see me?

Sunday Nap

Mum was hanging the washing out this afternoon, so I took a nap in the long grass.  It didn't last long as I came back in while she fussed around inside.

Mum and her friends were excited as they went with lots of hipsters to the Botanical Gardens, where there were food trucks meant to be serving dinner.  For some reason the trucks were a no go.  So all fifteen of them went to a local pub and had dinner there.  And it was rather tasty too.

Mum us home now.  She has fed me my feast, got the washing in and got the call phone on ready to go.

Zen Caturday

So this Caturday we are being zen.  Mum is back on call again and got the big 2 hrs sleep overnight.  She was heading home at 6am so did a quick visit to the supermarket before heading home to nap with me.

This afternoon us girls have been chilling.  The clouds have rolled in so mum decided to stay home and save some money as she is going out tomorrow afternoon.

She thought you might like to see some of the flower photos she took in her friends garden last week.   Her cellphone takes better photos than the camera.

Have a nice Caturday  - do something fu

Resolutions

Mum doesn't really believe in New Years resolutions as they never last.  There are some things she could do better and the New Year is a time to think about those things.

Over the staycation she watched a few episodes of Horders and this has motivated her.  She has donated some stuff to the charity shop and thrown a couple of bags of stuff out.

Last year she added a couple of new recipes to her repertoire- middle eastern meatballs and rice and a chicken broccoli Alfredo pasta.  Both quick and easy with lots of vegetables and she is able to make enough for a few meals in one go.  So rather than being too ambitious by trying to make a new recipe a week, once a month is about right for her.

She liked the idea she read about on the Cup of John blog.  Rather than focusing on the things you would like to improve in the year ahead like be more active, lose weight, save money etc...., they made a resolution to do something fun for the year.  So you could choose to read more books, watch more movies, go for more walks or take more photos.   Mum thinks that she will try and read more (she does read a lot but still finds herself wasting time watching silly shows).  Me - well I am going to spend more time taking naps.

How about you and your person - what fun things would make you happy in 2017?

Summer?

Like most kiwis we like to devote a certain amount of the day to talk about the weather.   Yesterday was mums last staycation day.  In the morning the sun was shining, it was blue skies and around about 20 degree c.  Mum went out and ate some lunch and had a wander round the city, but a blister from new shoes forced her to go to the supermarket and head home by 3pm.

As she arrived home she noticed the grey skies on the horizon.  Within 10 minutes they were covering the whole skies and freezing rain.  By 7pm the temperature had dropped to 8deg and by bedtime it was 6deg, and remember we are meant to be mid summer and complaining about the hots.  Not having the heater on and mum took this picture of me snuggling between her knees to keep myself warm.

So mum was texting her family who are in Adelaide Australia, where it was a tropical 36 degree.   Somewhere in the middle would be nice.

So we are hoping our weather settles soon before the summer is over.
