Today is the last day of winter!!! Yippeee!! The sun is out and mum has got some jobs done and had a walk in the sunshine. We are sooo looking forward to some warmth and sitting outside in the garden after months cooped up inside.
My mum is addicted to looking at little puppies for sale on Trademe. She is not going to actually get a puppy, although one day in the far ahead future she would love to have a puppy. Mum does think that all of these ones are super cute. (we do hope that people choose to visit their local shelters to find a new dog too).
Mum was looking at some of these old pictures from April, and how tidy the garden was looking. At the moment it is looking wild, after lots of winter rain, and she needs to start getting out and doing more weeding.
It's Sunday evening here, and we have had a cloudy day with lots of wind. Mum and I had our deserved sleep in which was lovely. Mum then went out with a bestie for a bit of lunch and a wander around some shops. Then a bit of book reading and we both had a nap on the bed.
Mums dinner was carrot and corriander soup with a bit of baguette, and now a bit of ice cream while Eat Pray Love is on the tele. It is a shame that Sunday has to finish, and the week has to begin over again.
Last night mum got to get two hours sleep - yippee for her. So at 6am, she got off to the fruit and veg market, sat and had a banana for breakfast and got home in time to couple of chores. Then she moved me over, and got a little nap before heading off to the hairdresser.
So tonight, she has to do a tidy up, cooks some dinner, collapse on the couch and then head to bed early. Guess she'll want her spot back?
Big Friday Night here at Chez Q. Mum got home late from work, revved up the washing machine, and plonked her big butt on the couch. She has to be on call all night, so a little bit of relaxing is in order.
Your alarm clock will only work if you turn it on. Luckily you wanted to get up at 7am, and I come and gotted you up at 7.02am by miowing at you. Otherwise you would have had an embarrassment getting to work late. We need that work money to buy some fancy feast.
Mum says Monday Mornings are hard to handle, but once she is scrubbed up and clean, she feels ready to start the day. I like to go in and slurp up the water after she has been in. Mum did laugh when she got this shot, don't you like my serious expression?
Wowza - check out these beauties!!! Mum says that she loves them all, but knows that I would still choose to sleep in a box or on her clothes, rather than sleep in a bed she paid for. All of these wonderful handmade beds are found on ETSY.
This morning, while I was just laying round on the electric blanket, after mum stole the sheets for the washing machine, I was thinking how much I love Caturday. I also thought - why get up? So I didn't, and slept the day away.
Mum had no time for a long sleep in today. She went for a walk, then met some lovely friends, went to Yum Cha for lunch, bought some tasty treats , came home, did some washing, patted my head, did the dishes, headed back to tea, met some other sweet friends, ate some yummy dinner (rissotto and then a tasty brown sugar pavlova), went to the movies, came home, patted me again, made the bed with my help, and headed to bed.
Yippee for Caturday, one of our favourites of the week.
Tonight my mum had a lovely evening out with her friend Janet from ninehundredandseventytwelverecipes and her husband Rick. They were in town for the weekend, and mum said it is lovely to meet new friends. Much as she would have liked to invite them round, I was traumatized from the gardener being round and digging my garden.
Mum said that she had started the blog in 2007, and thought that many of my friends would not have seen this early picture of me. Here I am catching the sunbeams on the path of my old house. Mum and I are lucky that blogging has bought so many good people into our life, and we have made so many great friends.
This is how I spend my afternoons. Just rolling around on my mums bed, on top of her shopping bag, on top of our quilt.
Mum has had early starts this week. 7.30am, 8am and tomorrow 7am, that's when she has to be at work and starting. She has to get up much - much earlier. So early - that I'm not even awake yet.
Close your ears - mum is watching a program about D.O.G.S on tele. She had some Thai Green Curry and rice for dinner, and some grapes for supper. Me I had the feast and my tummy is full of its' goodness. Life is good.
Dear Birdies, I hopes you enjoys that bread that mum left on the shed roof for yoo. She was annoyed cos when she bought it it tasted a bit stale. Rather than waste it, she recycled it and thought you could get fat. Then yoo could fall off the shed roof - and I could eat you. You see we try not to be wasteful here at Chez Q.
If your mother wants to read a newspaper, you can stop her getting square eyes by sitting on the paper. Don't waste your money buying papers mum - you can get all of your news for free on the interwebs.
My mum said that she had to work again today, abandoning me to sleep the day away. Then when she got home she made me some dinner, and planted herself on the couch. I got some fancy feasts, but not my favorite flavor.
Also - it is 10pm and she still hasn't made my bed. And then - when my secretary went to post, the internets broke down.
Finally it is Friday. Today it was a bit sunny, cos on Thursday it poured and poured. the gardener came and did lots of trimming and weeding, which was good. The weather man is predicting some mega rain at the weekend., mum says that is ok though cos she will be busy.
Thanks for the nip vote on yesterdays post. Everybuddy thinks that we should grow some more fresh nip, so mum will have to buy some soon.
Our usual gardener hasn't been here since January. His dad has taken over the business, and we got to meet him this morning. Correction - mum got to meet him. I did the scairty cat dash - straight out the catdoor and hide under the deck.
Mum says better get used to him, as he will be back with his blowy machines on Friday.
We have had some blue warmish skies here lately, and mum gave the birdies some of our wholemeal bread, some apples and mandarins (not sure if they like citrus). Lots of little birdies turned up for the picnic. Me - I just watched. Bird tv is the best.
Mum felt in need of a treat yesterday. She had been in the shops on Friday with a bestie and saw this quilt. It was down to half price, and so mum decided that cheering up our bed for a touch of spring was in order. It has got the Poppy Q seal of approval, this was only five minutes after mum put it on the bed!!!
Mum did enjoy curling up in bed with me last night with the new bedding. Even more because she had a touch of the food poisoning - which was entirely her own fault. She made some home made oven fries and opened some yoghurt dressing. She knew that the date was for a week or two so ago, but it still smelled alright. It was not ok - and mums tummy was upset last night, but she feels better today. And for a bonus, she cleared out the fridge today.
You knows we loves a Caturday. Mum and I stayed up real late last night to watch the New Zealand teams at the rowing at the Olympics. Our boys did good and won themselves two gold medals, which was awesome and mum says it bought little tears to her eyes!!
So, after a little sleep in, mum headed off to get the fresh fruits and veg for the week. This week, there were lots of little mandarins and more carrots for some tasty meals. Then, as the warmish sun was shining, she went off to get some vitamin D and a little bit of retail therapy. She got some new walking shoes, and a nice new gift for the bed.
We hope you all have a fabulous Caturday too, and have some little treaties for yourselves.
Here is me on top of a pile of stuff in the spare room. So much stuff was pulled out, that you cannot even see the bed!!! Instead of cleaning it, Mum went to the Art Show on in Wellington today. She said that there was a lot of nice stuff, but mum didn't love any of the pictures she could afford. There were lots that were beautiful, but most out of her budget range.
So mum is going to go and put away some of the stuff before heading to bed, a little at a time will get it done eventually.
Today I let my mum got out and see a couple of movies at the local film festival today - lucky mum. She has been trying to clean out lots of stuff, and tidy up so that the house looks nice. She sorted out a big big bag of stuff to go to the charity shop - yeehaw!!!! But she has lots of work to do to make the house super tidy. Get to work mum!!!
