Mum has promised me a midnight feast when she gets home from work.

Routine

We are creatures of routine round here at the Poppy Palace.  Mum gets up and goes to work, then wanders home and we have a quiet night.  One she goes - I climb on her bed and snooze.   I get up for a couple of hours when she is home.  Believe it or not, I might even do a zoomie or two before heading back to bed to get my 14 hour nightly snooze.

What's your routine?

Waiting

I am always waiting.   Waiting for my dinner, waiting for mum to wake up or waiting for her to get home.

Mum says she is always waiting too.  Waiting for the bus to come, waiting for work to finish and waiting for her dinner to heat up.

What are you waiting for?

Helper Cat

Today went fast - so much to do.  Mum washed towels  and sheets, and although the sun was shining there was too much winter chill outside to get them properly dry.  Windows and doors were opened and the house was aired.

Mum took herself off to town to have a little lunch and a pop into the library.  She visited a couple of shops to browse but was happy to just stroll in the winter sun.  Off to the supermarket for a couple of items to plan the weeks menu.

Tonight I had a feast for my dinner.  Mum chopped a couple of small spuds to roast and added some pork slices with stuffing  that she had bought.  She had felt like some cabbage, but at $3.70 for a small half, she chose cheaper carrots instead.  So a tasty and warming winter dinner with dinner all made for tomorrow night.

So the curtains are drawn and mum is ready to make the bed which is always fun.

Bird

Mum and Miss Belle sat up last night and watched a movie eating pizza.  They had a good old sleep in and then they went and had some brunch.  It was a balmy 27 degress outside so it was sunglasses on and the sat on outside to eat.  Mum took her niece to a couple of shops and then had to kiss her goodbye, as it was time for her flight home.

Mum then went to a couple of shops and as the afternoon progressed, the weather started to turn nasty and the temperature dropped.   One shop mum went into had this fabulous poster of a bird in it.  Mum and the family had budgies when she was a girl.  They were very sweet little birds, but seldom lived long.  Mum wonders if it was too cold where we lived.

Mum says this would be the only bird I would be allowed to have!!  So now she is on the couch watching Forrest Gump- how can it be 23 years since it came out?  How is your weekend ending?

Chilled

Today was a chilled one .  Mum slept in, but I woke her at six to remind her I like biscuits , at 7 to tell her it was raining outside and at 8 to let her know she was just being plain lazy taking up space in my bed.  So she got up and I went back to sleep until 4pm.

Thursday

Hello Thursday.   It has been a strange day for the mumster.   She was on call last night and went to work from 10pm until 1am.  She had to go back from 6am until 8am.  When she got home she tried to avoid lying down, but she finally succumbed for a couple of hours of snoozing.

She had thought tonight was her hair appointment, and when she rang to check they were kind and offered to squeeze mum in.  She was glad to be done early, but it was cold outside walking home - time to dig out the gloves.   So home now and the heaters are on warming us up.

Lucky Ladies

How are you my furriends?  Mum had a little long day today.  She stayed under the covers til the last minute at 7.04am before getting ready for work.  Work, work, work all day.  Finished late then into town.  Library visit, supermarket shop, bus home then wash the towels and dish out my feast.  Mum made some Thai green curry chickend for dinner with rice.  A kiwi/banana/pineapple smoothie for supper and some temptations for me.  We are lucky ladies.

Tired

I was so tired when mum came in to talk to me, that I could not even get my eyes open!

Snuggle Sunday

Mum decided to nix her A and B plans today and go for the C plan of stay at home with me.  Snuggles and a good book helped to help her relax.  The week ahead is almost upon us, and mum is ready.

Caturday

Mum still felt  a bit out of sorts today.  I helped her by letting her have a sleep in and giving her a few snuggles.  She read her book for a while and then went for a walk as it was such a nice sunny wintery day.

Mum then went and met a bestie for some lunch, a big bowl of spicy chicken noodles and a wander round some shops.  She was glad to be able to head home early.  She passed this little pink house on the way.  Cute - but mum doesn't think she would paint a house that color.

So mum did the dishes, washed her uniform and hovered the floors .  I had my feast and was in bed by 6pm.  A clear sunny day means a frosty cold night, so mum thinks she may head to bed early too.

We hope you are having a nice Caturday and have something nice planned.

Soft Spot

I have a little soft spot just behind my ears that mum likes to pat or give me a kiss.

Her shifts are over now for a while, so she got to have the day off to chill out.  She slept in, but rather than feeling refreshed when she woke up she felt a bit out of sorts   after doing a few chores she got herself organised and went into town for a wander.  The evenings are much cooler now though and she was glad to return early.  The curtains were drawn and the heaters are turned on.

So we are ready for the weekend  - how about you?

Bag Thief

That's right lady - I'm going to stop you heading off to work by stealing your bag.

Lady Lunch

Mum is on the afternoon shift again today.  5 down and just 3 to go.  She tries to make her own food to take, to save the pennies and this week is trying to clear out the fridge before buying more groceries.   She had a couple of large spuds to use up - so decided to make baked potatoes.

Super easy.  She microwaved them for 15 minutes then put them in the oven for a 1/2 hour.  She chopped 1 small onion + 1 small zucchini + 1/2 red pepper.  She fried these in a small bit of oil.  She then scooped out the inside of the potatoes and added the cooked veg, 2 slices of ham chopped up small, butter,  2 chopped up slices Swiss cheese, some defrosted peas and corn and salt and pepper.  All mixed up and put back into the potatoes and back in the oven for a further 10 minutes.

So a tasty lunch for her and supper for the next couple of days.  Me - well I am going to stick to the feast.

Mums 24 Hours Away

Mums 24 hours away went well.  It was for her lovely niece Miss Belles 21st.  It did rain on the day and turned real cold.  On the Sunday it was a clear blue winters day so mum was up early and went for a little walk through town.

When she got home she had to go straight to work, and finally got home at midnight and I was pleased to see her. I followed her round and bugged her to come to bed do I could sit on her leg and look at her.

Things are back to normal today as mum has got the washing machine working and I am back to being tuckered out on the bed.

Life is good.

Sunday

It's Sunday and i'm counting down the hours til mum is back.  She flew home this afternoon on this little plane.  She didn't have to come home first, she had to go straight to work.  She did promise me that she would be back by midnight so that I could get my feast.  I'm ready mum - time to come home.

Away Caturday

Mum finished her work late last night.  So I got to have a midnight feast and went to sleep with a full belly.  This morning I got kisses and cuddles and mum whispered in my ear and told me that she had to go away at lunchtime and would not be home until Sunday night.

Mum would prefer not to be away, but she had to go somewhere overnight.  More than one night and I would have to go to the cattery, however she knows I don't like going there.  So she made sure I have a pile of biscuits and plenty of water.

I don't like strangers so mum is reluctant to get a cat sitter in either.  I am scared of other people.

So we will let you know how our weekend goes.  Hope you are having fun on your Caturday.

Red Roses

Even though mum worked late last night, she dragged herself out of bed at a decent hour.  A pile of plates needed washing, some clothes were washed and then mum headed into town.  She visited the post office, the library and had some lunch before heading home.  She passed this pretty cottage that had lovely red roses blooming round the door.

She got home in time before a little rest before donning her uniform and heading off to work.

Me well I am busy guarding the bed like a good pussy cat should.

Cat Snuggler

In the morning time I have a little routine.  I hate the hair dryer being on but when it is finished i jump up next to mum for a quick cuddle.   On days like today when mum has more time to spare she slips back between the covers, and I climb on her lap for more cuddles and purring.  She uses that time to relax and read before she gets up and gets on with her day.

Cat Wars

At early 6 o'clockish mum heard me and another pussy cat have a karaoke session outside. She heard the upstairs people wake up and move round, and then she heard the neighbors wake up too.  Ohhh ohhh!!!

I ran inside 5 minutes and collapsed onto the bed.  I was all tuckered out.  Being on patrol and on guard is exhausting.

Monday Relaxing

This is the face I made most of the day.  It was the Queenies birthday holiday today.   Me and the mumster decided to stay home all day.  She got some jobs done in the morning and set out to chill in the afternoon.   Although she got an invite to go out, she decided that she needed to just chill as she has a busy week ahead.

What kind of face are you making today?

Winter Sunday

This morning was mild, and mum and I enjoyed a sleep in.  She did get up and head outside to go and meet up with friends for brunch.  They went to a local cafe, but the food was a bit of a let down with what mum thought was a measerly portion.   While they were eating the cold Southerly rolled , dropping the temperature and bringing rain.
The girls looked at a couple of shops, but mum was keen to get home and turn the heaters on.  A nap was then in order.   Mum even let me have my feast at 3.30pm.

So tonight mum will make a veg mash for dinner and cook up some sausages - a good winter staple for her.

Arty Caturday

Today was the annual art show held in town.  Mum always meets her beasties and has a wander.  She had saved up her $5 notes all year so that she could treat herself with something if she found one she liked.  This one took her fancy today so she bought it.  It is little native NZ birds on a piece of paper printed to look like vintage wallpaper.  It is hard to take a photo of it but mum lIves it.

Mum and her friends wandered round town looking at shops.  They tried a little cafe for coffee that was not so nice and then went to a great place for dumplings for lunch which was yummy.

Mum then got home and fed me my feast and then had to put her feet up as they were sore.  After a little rest she then did the dishes, some washing and cooked herself some chicken nibbles for dinner.

Now she is watching some shows with her heater on in the lounge and I am snuggled up close to mine in our bedroom.

Hope you are all having a nice Caturday and doing something fun.

Helper Cat

Sorry to keep going on about the cold.  We know that 8 degrees is not so cold for many of our readers, but for us it is a bit chilly.  Our house like a lot of kiwi houses, is 100 years old.  It is wooden with very little insulation, no central heating or double glazing.  For 7 months of the year it is fine, but we were getting cold.

So after work mum went and got herself some dinner and then went and bought a new heater.  The flat has two small panel heaters, but they seem to only heat the room a small bit.  So now mum can heat the living room and bedroom nicely.

I was helper cat - sniffing out the boxes for enemy attackers.I didn't find any, so time for a little snooze.

Have a nice Friday everybuddy.

Hello Winter

Hello winter.   This evening was a touch chilly.  Mum thinks she may need to buy another heater to survive the next few months.   She was on call last night and had another busy one.  The good part was that she got to have the day off with me.

Tonight she went out with four school friends, one of whom she has not seen for thirty years.  After a wine and over food there was lots of talking and laughter.  They had some tasty tapas for their dinner so mums tummy is full.

So my tummy is full of feast too and I got to sleep all night on mums bed.
