Visitor Caturday

Neighbor tabby cat has spent a couple of evenings sitting in our back yard quietly watching my mum as she brought the washing in.  Mum does feel sorry for neighbor cat, as she lives in the flats next door and doesn't have any garden there.  As long as I don't get intimidated or bullied my mum understands that we share the garden space.

It was hot and sunny here today so mum took herself  out for a walk.  She got home in time for a lovely nap with me.  Now a movie at home - Puzzle a quiet drama, enjoyed with pizza on the couch.  I ate 1/2 my feast and had 5 temptations at 10.30pm and now want mum to come back to bed with me.

Did you do anything fun today?

Best

Mum and I had the best sleep last night.  She turned off the alarm clock and let her body wake her up after a solid 8 hours.  Best of all she didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to visit the bathroom.

Greens

Being an inside/outside cat I get to have lots of times out in the garden.  I enjoy having some moms on the green grass.  If you look on Google lots of sites say that cats do this to relieve stress or to settle their sore tummies.  Mum is not sure about these theories, she thinks it must be just tasty as I often sit and have a nibble.   As spring is arriving in some parts of the world, we wonder if our Northern Hemisphere friends will grow some cat grass for their feline friends?

Closure

After the past week or so it seems pointless to complain about the small stuff going on after what some families must be experiencing.  However, in the midst of the terror in Christchurch a notice popped up on mums phone to say that the main library in town was closing.  After the earthquake of  over 2 years ago, several large city buildings were deemed unsafe or in need of earthquake strengthening.  So the council, had decided the library would close the next day.  For a year or two.

There are quite a few branches of the library, although none of them are that close to our house, and mum liked going to the main library.  It was a place that she visited every week to return or borrow books.  It was a good place to sit and meet people as it had a cafe and mum just liked to wander the stacks and discover interesting reads.

Luckily she had gone in the day before it closed and got 6 new books, although her reading is a bit slow at the moment she is relieved to have a big pile to get through.  Is is sad that she is mourning the closure of her house of worship?

Weekender

Mum's shift finished at 3pm and so our weekend begins.  When she got home I demonstrated to her how she should be relaxing.  She is rather tired but has an easy week coming up.

She had lots of leftover chili mince leftover from last nights dinner, which she popped into a big baked potato and declared it her favorite meal of this week.

So let our weekend/ days off begin!!

Hi

Hi Caturday lovers.  I got to loll around on my bag on the mattress cover on this warm sunny Caturday.  I sent the mumster off to work.  It went quick and mum was glad to head home.  She got me a feast for dinner and made some chilli and nachos for dinner.  She is going to have her shower tonight so her hair is clean for her 5.30am alarm call tomorrow morning.

Are you having some treats tonight?  Are your folks making themselves a tasty dinner?  What is on their menu tonight?  Please share.

Sleeps

Mum went to work early this morning, and was home just before 5am.  She managed a couple of hours sleep, and then got up to get some washing out before she had to head into work.  She ate her lunch with a couple of colleagues, and there was a 2 minute silence to remember the victims from last weeks terrorist attack.  It has been a hard week and I think that everyone is still in shock.

Yesterday there were changes made by the government.  Owning military style semi automatic weapons is now illegal.  New Zealanders may still own guns - there are just rules around applying for a gun licence.  We all mostly believe that gun ownership is a privilege her, not a right.  This is not a forum here for any arguments about gun ownership.  We fully support the changes as I am sure 99% of Kiwis do.  It is a shame that it has taken such a tragedy to make such changes happen, but we are glad that moves have been made swiftly to protect the public.

It has been been hard to know what to do in response to what has happened.  It has changed all of us.  Our sense of security,  our feeling of safety in our corner of the world has been forever altered.  For someone to bring that kind of hatred to our shores,  is true evil.  Something we have never had to face before.  It is not who we are.

Anyways I have to send mum to bed - she has to work early tomorrow morning and needs to join me and get some sleep.

Thursday

Mum caught me up at the window.  I was busy sniffing as the neighbours were cooking some nice smelling food for dinner.  By the time she grabbed the phone to take a photo I jumped down.

It has been a hard week - the news has been pretty relentless this week, so mum has trying to avoid watching the news too much.  Early night's have helped a bit too.  Tonight though mum is on call so maybe not too much sleep for mum tonight - we'll see what happens.

Helper Cat

I helped mum this weekend by assisting her to watch Poldark.   She was glad to have company like mine.

Quiet

This has been a weekend like no other here in our small country.  That so many were killed in a place of prayer, killing men, women and children is beyond words.

Those poor families - their grief must be hard to bear.  We are taking the time to be quiet.  We have met and talked with friends.  Thank you for your kind words.

Chilling

Mum and I have some time to chill out.  Even though the clouds have closed in, the forecast is that the rain will hold off tomorrow.  So mum plans to get up early tomorrow morning to get the washing done and on the line so she can get out and enjoy her day.

Hopefully I will get some snuggles and time to sit and look out the window.

Early Bird Snoozer

I have tucked myself into bed early cos mum was looking at me funny.  She was just looking at me wanting to chat - but I was ready to start snoozing.  This is still one of my main spots and I spend some time in it every day and every night.  I switch between mums spot on the bed, my shopping bed and this little bed which is heated with a special cat electric blanket so it is always warm for my old bones.

Mum and I have been going to bed a bit earlier as the weather is looking more wintry.  It has been drizzly and cloudy her for the past week, and the next week is forecast for more rain.  I have been popping into mums bed for a quick cuddle before she goes to bed and in the morning, a sure sign that winter is coming!!

Can You See Me Monday?

Can you see me today?  Monday again and another week has started.  Mum has been busy today and will head to bed again soon.

I had a feast for dinner and mum made herself some comfort food of ham/cheese/pineapple toasted sandwiches.  Quick and easy is great.

What else is a girl to do when it is raining outside again?

Caturday Fun

Today was rainy and cool.  Mum and I had a sleep in and then after mum got up for a bathroom visit, I wanted a cuddle so she climbed back into bed and read her book and I got my cuddles done.
She did chores for a little bit.  As it was so horrid outside mum got her groceries delivered as the fee is less than a taxi ride home from the supermarket.  She stocks up on the bulky things like 20 rolls of toilet paper and dirty cans of fancy feast, things that are awkward for her to carry home normally.
Top gun was on the telly tonight.  Mum knows most of the dialogue, but still enjoys watching it every year or so when it pops up on the telly.
She had a Pepsi and some chips which she hasn't had in a while this afternoon, so she enjoyed them.  For dinner she roasted some pork, kumara and potatoes and had some corn, broccoli and beans too.  So she is stuffed full with lots of leftovers.

Mum hopes you can link to this  story from one of our Kiwi newspapers about two dogs stranded in the mud, and rescued by a whole team of helpers.  One dog  Fern was stuck by its lead in the mangroves, and her Brother Gus stayed by her side for two days until help came to set them free.

Now the candles are lit and mum is going to watch a movie.  She is glad to have had such a relaxing day.  I have had my feast and treats and mum has let me help her today and given me lots of cuddles.  I love it when she spends Caturday with me.

We hope you get to do something fun on your Caturday too.

Friday Night

Tonight mum had some foods and was ready for bed by 7pm.  She was exhausted - so she took a nap.  For a couple of hours.  I joined her cos you know, I like napping too.  Us girls are glad it is Friday and we are ready for the relaxing to begin.

Dusking

The evenings are getting darker.  We are not thrilled to be heading towards winter, but we guess it is time for the seasons to slip.

Mum had some boring pasta for dinner so she ate some chocolate chip French rolls for dessert and feels better.

Me - I had a feast for my dinner.  Then at about 9pm I venture out for my evening bathroom visit and intruder inspection and come back inside and ask for some temptations for my supper.

The cutest thing mum has seen all week.  I die.  Not really, but mum just about did watching this video a couple of times.  She loves the cute little mini me kitten.

Lazy

Thanks for being lazy with me today mum.  What do you mean you did 3 loads of washing, hoovered and cleaned?  You should have got your 23 hours of sleep like me!

Tucked Up Caturday

I do like to sleep in mum's spot on the bed as soon as she ventures away.  She was up early again this morning to head out with her bestie to the annual summer fair.  She bought herself several little treats - nothing for me.

The day started with cool spitty rain and ended with bright sunshine which made the day better.  When mum got home she got the feast ready for me and had steak and coleslaw for her own dinner.

Mum has whispered in my ear and told me that I will have to relinquish my spot on the bed soon as her sleepless nights have caught up with her and she is ready to climb into bed with a new book to read.

We hope you are enjoying your Caturday too.  Have some fun friends.

Friday Film

Mum had to be up all night for work, so she got to head home about 7.30am.  She took a nap for a couple of hours with me.  Up for a shower then mum headed out to do some jobs and a walk.  Then mum went to see Stan & Ollie at the cinema.

Then she came home and got all the washing off the line.  Uniforms clean and hung up ready for Monday already.  I got a brush and cuddles - lucky me.  Mum put a pizza in the oven for her dinner and then burnt it - grrr!

Time for us girls to relax now.
