Happy Halloween

Halloween isn't really a thing here in New Zealand,  although social media seems to be having more influence especially on the kids.  Saying that, mum did win a costume parade at school when she was eight wearing a witches costume her parents made her.  She had a black cat then, Andy cat who would follow mum everywhere when she wore it round the house.

So tonight mum is watching It in the dark.  She has seen it before,  so isn't too scared.  She might even make it a double feature scary movie night.  Who needs sleep?

Friday

Mum threw the covers off to air the bedding,  but I quickly cried for my bag and took the chance to have a nap while the duvet was still on. Mum likes to let me be comfortable  and happy, so it was fine with her.

Mum made a sandwich for dinner and is sitting  down to watch Four Weddings and a Funeral.   Such a comfort watch and years later it seems more sad than funny.  Interesting  to read it was filmed in six weeks for £2.8 million  and made £285 million.   She must have watched it over 15 times over the years.

Day Out

Mum went out this afternoon.   She perused the bookshop, taking photos  of the books she wants to look out for in the library.   It was raining and cooler so she didn't wander for too long.  She went to a hotel to meet friends for drinks and another burger at the hotel restaurant - somewhere new to eat.  Mum was glad to have got out and about on her day off.  She knows how lucky she is when she got home, and watching  the news seeing how many people have new lockdowns and restrictions.

Visit

Today was a sleep in day for mum, and a visit to the supermarket , and that was about it.  She took these photos the other day of her friend's pretty back garden.  She is a keen gardener and has 2 green thumbs and lots of green fingers.

Happy Birthday To Us

Happy Birthday  to my mum.  I treated her to a lie in today.  She mooched about and made a visit to the market for some treats.  She took herself to the cinema  to see Greenland.  She likes a good end of the world movie, and although somewhat formulaic, there were a couple of original ideas and a few scares that made some audience members jump.

We've had a couple of treats tonight.  Mum had some Pad Thai noodles for her dinner on the couch while watching  the new version of Rebecca.  After a couple of nights out during the week, mum is glad of some quiet time with me.  She also feels bad that she forgot  to celebrate my birthday on the 14th - so she has shared her day with me.  So I have had lots of treats and extra snuggles.

Just chilling today at home with mum.  We both needed an afternoon  nap today.

Lightweight

Mum finished her working day last night and went into town.  It was sunny and the bars were busy.  There is a yearly burger competition  that the bars and restaurants compete in and mum and a bestie went to the waterfront  for a glass of wine and a beef and pulled pork burger.   The burger  was tasty and the chips tasty and somewhat expensive.   Mum is such a lightweight  that coming home, her one glass of wine made her fall asleep on the couch at 8pm.  She missed posting for me, and her neck was a bit sore from nodding off literally.

Today is her day off and after a drs appointment,  she is off to meet bestie number 2 for a wander round some shops and another  burger.  Tonight she may skip the wine and have a lemon, lime and bitters instead.  That way I can get a proper snuggle when she gets home.

Bars, cafes, restaurants  and the mall are all operating as normal here with contact tracing, but no masks.

Morning Meeting

This mornings meeting of our neighbors cats was well attended with naughty neighbor cat and next door tabby cat taking up their positions of staring intensely at each other.   Their president Miss Poppy princess chaired the meeting from her bag on the bed.

Smart

Mum managed to leave her work swipe card at home today, got wet on the way to work and on the way home, she burnt her rice for dinner and undercooked the chicken.  I stayed home and read mums book and broadened my mind.

Sundaying

This is how I have spent my Sunday.  How about you?  Are you being lazy too?

Saturday, October 17, 2020

Soring weather sure is fickle, with light rain and cold mum is sick of having to wear her jacket every day.  She met up with some friends for lunch and a wander today which was nice.  Mum had a big bowl of a Thai noodle soup full of fresh vegetables  for her lunch.  She bought some candles from the locally owned candle shop and a Danish pastry from the market to have for her breakfast tomorrow.

I was happy  to stay home and snooze.

The election is finally over here which is a relief.  Mum is not surprised with the results,  a labour landslide with Jacinda Ahern continuing as leader.

Sunny Afternoon

Mum took the afternoon off work.  She got the groceries, and voted, came home and cooked  some lunch, did some dishes and got 3 loads of washing done and on the line to dry in the sun.  Then she grabbed her book and sunglasses,  kicked off her shoes and sat in the sun and read her book.  I came over to have a snooze by mums shoes.  What a great way to spend  the afternoon.

Reading Time

Mum was trying to read her book, and I tried  to help her out.  It has got a bit cold again here.  Mum got home this afternoon  before a drop of hail.  She tucked  herself up in bed to stay snuggly while she read.

Our election is on this Saturday.  Mum can't wait  for it to be over, as all the waffle and speculation fills the evening news and websites.

Mr Tui

Mum was waiting  for her bus after work and was entertained by  this young Tui bird who was hopping around feasting on the flax flowers.   She took a video, but can't upload it as it is too big for blogger.  Such a delight - mum has never had one come so close to her.  In the last photo he sung mum a little Tui song, entertaining mum and other people  at the bus stop.

Oldie

It is raining and cooler tonight.  Mum has cleaned  out some old clothes in a half hearted spring clean, watched a documentary series on The Challenger, watched The Split series 2, and read some if her book.  She found some old photos,  like this one of me as a  little  kitty, and tried to tidy the living room and hovered the house.

Visitor Caturday

Naughty neighbor cat came over for a touch of sunbathing on the shed this afternoon.   When I was a youngster I used to jump up on shed roofs too, but now I am a senior citizen my climbing days are over.  Mum did chores this morning  and went and did some fun stuff this afternoon.   She felt like a senior  too, choosing  glasses and looking  at sensible shoes.  What fun!!

Strike

I refused to eat my dinner tonight and followed  mum around all evening  begging for treats.  I told you I loved them.

Pondering

I like to spend a lot of my day pondering  - wondering  what I should do next.  Sleep on my shopping bag or move to my heated bed?

Essential Shopping

Mum had to go to the supermarket  after work for some essential  supplies.  She let me choose which treats to have and I chose these ones to try first.   Mum is often a bit suspicious if ones that say natural, but I loves them.  I give them 4 paws from me.

Dusk

Dusk time, and the next door neighbour's tabby cat is sitting  outside taking in the view of the setting sun.  Today  has been the first day that the towels were fully dry after being out on the line.  Mum went for a stroll by the harbour, got her lunch from a food van and sat in the sun enjoying  her picnic.

Helper

Today I spent the day helping  the mumster do her chores.  Washing all the clothes was done today, hoovering, dusting, dishes and scrubbing  the loo - oh my.  Just towels to be done tomorrow  and then mum can head out and have some fun.  I was her little  shadow, following  her around the house and garden.  I need a day off tomorrow as I'm tired.

Me and Mousie

After dinner I went and had a nap with my mouse on the mum bed.  Mum did join me for a little while but thought she better go and do some jobs before bedtime arrives.
