Annoyed

Mum was a bit annoyed with me tonight.   Yup see she got home at 2.40pm today and I started asking for my dinner.  She said no it was too early.  So I communicated my displeasure by scratching the chair. She said no!!  So I came back and scratched it more.

Rather than big growls, mum lay down on her bed and read her book and ignored me until 5pm when she finally got up and dished out my dinner.

It is cold again  tonight though - so I am sure we can be friends again.

Sundaying

How are you my furriends?  Are you having a relaxing day?  Mum couldn't figure out why I came and sat on her twice this morning, then she checked her phone and it said the temperature was a cool 2 degree C.

She got up early and went out to the seaside to have lunch with some lovely friends.  She took no photos, so instead will leave you with this movie she took of me later night.  In case you don't talk cat - I am telling her to hurry up and make the bed. (Sorry we can't get the video to load and play.  They don't make it easy for middle aged mumsters).

Enjoy your Sunday.

Caturday Mooching

The mumster and I did next to nothing today.  A bit of washing was done and mum did air the bed.  She tidied the bathroom and swept the floors.  She also slept in, read her book, watched some shows, did some sudoku and ate some food.

Mum also got dressed up and went and saw a movie with a bestie friend - Beatriz at Dinner which was a 3/5.  Then they went for dinner, thinking they were going to  the Italian Pizza restaurant they ended up at the wrong place.  It was Italian with a similar name and they stayed, and the food was OK, the garlic bread was delicious.   When they left they realized the restaurant they thought they were going to was three doors down.   First world problems.

So now mum is home, the heaters are on and mum is ready to take her make up off and put her feet up.

We hope you are having a nice Caturday and get to do something fun.

Finally Friday

We are glad it is Friday today.  Mum had a short change, that means that she finished an afternoon shifts last night and then had to be back at work this morning.   She finished and then rushed home and took a shower and got ready to go out.

The evening was chilly so mum layered up and even took out her gloves to keep her hands warm.  Mum went to see a movie called The Party, it was OK, just a 3/ watch for her.   She was glad to get home and crank up the heater and warm up some soup and toast.  Now it is time for us girls to head to bed and keep warm.

Comfy Spot

When I want a comfy spot to snooze in, mum often finds me on my little cat bed.  It has 2 quilts on it , a woolly blankie, a bath mat and is topped with a towel.  Just like the princess and the pea.  Don't worry- the heater on the wall doesn't work, so I won't get burnt.

One of our friends asked if it was smoke on yesterday's sky photos.   No smoke, just stormy clouds trying to take over.

Relaxed

The sun was still shining today, mum has been super lucky on her days off to have had two lovely days to relax in.  Washing even dried on the line.

Mum has enjoyed her relaxing.  Us girls have just enjoyed not having to race around.

Glimpse

Today we had a glimpse of spring.  There was warmth and sunshine and the windows were open to the breezes.   Mum went out for a stroll and  was able to leave the winter coat at home.  Hopefully tomorrow we will see blue skies as well!!

Sunday Feeds

Mum is glad that Sunday evening has finally rolled around.   Her shifts have finished, a long 7 days in a row and now she has two days off so even though it is Sunday, it feels like a Friday night.  She was tired though and after coming through the door, she gave me my feast and then needed a nap.

Luckily for mum, she had leftovers in the fridge and now has a full tummy.  After two weeks of storms mum has been putting out apples and food for our local blackbirds and sparrows who seem hungry.  The good thing is it gives me something to look out the window at.

Big Cat Caturday

Mum saw these big cats out today, they stand outside the war memorial by our parliament buildings.  She had to be up early as she had an early shift at work.  It went relatively quickly  although she got soaked on the way to work.  The rest of the country had lots of flood waters as another storm has drenched our little country.

After work mum came home to dish out the feast and chat to me.  She then tidied herself up and went and met her besties.  They went to a nice pub for dinner and then to the movies to see  This Beautiful Fantastic- which was okish.   Now home with all the heaters on and her eyes feel heavy, so time for bed now.

Friday Nighting

Friday is finally here although mum has to work of course.  The weather has been rainy and stormy again, although other cities have had it much worse than us.  Mums work day was good and went fast, which is the best kind of day.

She went supermarketing after work in order to buy one thing.  She spent  $59 and came home with two bags to lug up the hill.  She didn't take a photo of her dinner but she made a winter mash and did some nice chicken legs.  She marinated 7 of them with two tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin and a dash of pepper.   Squished around in an oven bag and roasted for about 45 minutes they were quick and yummy.  Best of all there are plenty of leftovers for weekend meals.

So now she is getting some chores done while watching a couple of shows.  An average Friday night at our place.

Lucky Mum Day Off

Mum was lucky and got to have the day off.   She got to be home at 8am, have some breakfast, shower, got some washing done and then fell asleep on the bed doing her sudoko.   So she took a nap then got herself ready and took a walk into town.

She bought herself a couple of little treats and then decided to go to the movies.  She saw Dunkirk and enjoyed it.   It was what a good war movie should be, without the cheesy back stories and straight into the action.  Worth the ticket price it was almost perfect.  5/5

She the walked home before the rain came and made a tasty chicken pasta for her dinner.  Me well I was happy watching the birdies in the garden.

Naptime

Mum is still dog tired (or should that be cat tired?).  She worked 7am-3pm today so had a little nap with me this afternoon.   I climbed up on the bed and even sat beside her within patting distance.

So it has 9pm - I have given her permission to put a face mask on and have some fruit for her supper.  Then she is under orders ro be in bed at 10pm.  I am already in position warming up the bed.

Jealous

Today mum is tired and she is jealous of my ability to drop and sleep at anytime and that I can rest for 23 hours a day.

Sunday Walk

Mum tried to sleep in this morning but her back was too sore. She got up and had some breakfast, and a couple of ibuprofen settled the pain.  She washed the bedding and vacuumed the floors and as the skies were blue she put the sheets out on the washing line outside.

Today's weather is the last fine day forecast for some time so mum slipped out to take a walk in the fresh air.  She walked down to the harbour to the fruit and vegetables market to get some in for the week.

As it was so nice she carried on and walked right round the waterfront.   Although it looked nice it was a bit chilliy, so mum slipped into a shop and found a jacket on sale which kept her warm.

Then home

After The Storm Caturday

The storm has drifted away and so the Caturday showed us beautiful blue skies.  Mum pulled open the windows and doors so that we got some fresh air in.  Although the air was cool mum got outside and had a walk.  She was feeling like a nap when she got back, but resisted in the hope of getting a good night's sleep tonight.

We hope you are having a nice Caturday too! What are your plans?

TGIF

We have had a big old three day storm here with rain, hail and lots of wind.  The snow fell south and North of us but not in our city - although we have felt its chill.  Mum had evening shift so was glad when 5pm rolled around and her weekend could begin.
Me - well I was under the covers a lot.  Mum came home via the supermarket where she stocked up on a few things.  She got an easy burger for dinner.  Then home to dish up my feast.   The uniforms were washed and now she is going to relax on the couch.

We can hear more rain falling this evening and it is still a bit cold, so mum has turned the heaters up and is getting ready to chose a sweet treat for her supper.

We hope you are all getting ready for your weekend too.

Fort Holding

I am still holding the fort at home. We are still in the midst of a storm here with high winds and rain for us, and lots of snow round the country.  Nice and warm and cosy inside for us.  Again I am waiting for mum, but it is the last shift of her week.

Work

Mum is working again!

Coolness

There us meant to be a bit of a big cold snap coming our way.   Lots of snow in the south island that is heading towards us.  Although we seldom get snow, it might get mighty chilly.  So mum went to the supermarket after work and got all the supplies in.
Mum made this for dinner.  Getting home after a long day she is all for the quick cook and only one dish.  She baked a chicken stuffed breast, hash browns again and a steamed veg mix.  1 minute prep, 20 minutes in the oven  and done and ready.

Me - well I was happy with my feast.  What is your person having for dinner tonight?

Good People

In a world that seems full of troubling news, with people intent on destroying others lives, it is nice to hear a good news story.  This man Mark Dunajtschik, arrived in our city almost 60 years ago as a 23 year old from war torn Europe.   He ran his own engineering business before retiring and then investing in commercial property development.

Today it was announced that he was giving a personal gift of $50 million dollars to the hospital to pay for a new children's hospital.  What a difference that will make to the children and families in our city and region, providing them with safer and more comfortable facilities to rest and recuperate in.

How lucky we are to have such a generous gentleman living here, and his gift will be an amazing legacy for our city and country.

Sunday Sleeps

Mum worked all day again today , but only an 11 hour day instead of yesterday's 14 hour one.  So she got home and dished out my feast.  I did surprise her by begging her for a taste of her lamb chop and ate and enjoyed the tiniest bit.

Now this where I am curled up while mum watches 60 minutes on the tele.  Her back aches from the busy weekend and she is looking forward to a nice sleep.   It is raining outside and we are both pleased to be inside with the heaters on.

Rulez

There are some rulez at the house of Q.

  • When mum gets home she is allowed to say hello.  Then she must drop her bags and feed me.
  • I likes the heater put on in our bedroom.  This must happen after dinner.
  • Treats must be ready to be served any time between 7-10pm.
  • You can come and talk to me for a while.  I is allowed to touch mum anywhere I like.  She can pat me for 10 minutes max only.
  • You must vacate the mum bed after 8am every morning.   It is the Poppy bed between 8am and 11pm.
What are the rulez at your house?

Perch

This afternoons skies were grey and heavy with the promise of rain.  I love my little perch to stare out the windows into the back yard.  I can see the birds searching food and keep an eye out for neighbor cats.

Keeping it Real

Here we are at the house of Q - keeping it real.  Mums day off was relaxing for her.  A sleep in until 8am, a leisurely breakfast of eggs on toast, a long shower and then she collapsed on the bed and watched some shows while the washing machine worked hard.

She then headed to the library and did a wee wander through town.

She got home before it got too cold.  No fancy dinner tonight for her- chicken soup and toast then some fruit for supper.

I am busy warming up the bed for her.  I came out to get my treats at 8.30 pm so now I am ready for the big snooze.

Tempting

Last night I meowed at mum non stop for twenty minutes until she figured out what I wanted.  I wanted treats, but the cupboard was bare.  Naughty mum.  She had to truck me by giving me some biscuits - but i'm not fooled.  So mum went to the supermarket tonight and stocked up.  Those should last about a week - haha!!!
Mums dinner tonight - a pepper steak with hash browns again and broccoli.   Tasty!!!

Are you all having a tasty dinner tonight too?
