Dust

This is our friends lovely cat Dust.  He is quite the charmer and very friendly.  He lives the good life in a house by the beach where he can chase little lizards in the garden and he is wise enough to stay away from the chickens.  The late afternoon is the perfect time to stretch out in the shade and soak up the warmth of the brick pathway.

Dream Job

Mum dreams that she should to be the world taking photos of animals .  Plenty of people do it but boy it seems hard work, they sure don't like to stay still and pose.  So mum likes to practice with her friends chickens.

It is got in our city today, so mum has avoided being in the sun so that she doesn't burn to a crisp.  She has decided that she likes spring and autumn best.  Me too.

Blue

Mum went out to visit with her friends this afternoon.   It had been cloudy at our place but sunny and warm across the harbour.  Mum even rolled up her pants and went into the water up to her shins.  She is not fond of the seaweed and jellyfish that were floating round.

An hour after the photos were taken and mum was on her way home the clouds had rolled in.

Mum is trying to enjoy the summer weekends before they disappear.

Quiet

Us girls had a quiet one today.  Sheets were washed and hung on the line, the dishes done and more were made.  Easy dinner, simple lunch. Mum brushed her hair and then tried to give me groom - but I was fast and got away.  A book was finished and a book was started, a movie watched, the fan was on and we just kept it simple.  Nice.

Relaxing

Mum often finds me relaxing on the carpet just chilling out in the heat.  Today has been a bit cooler which was lovely.

So we are ready for the weekend and some relaxing.  Especially as i came in and woke mum up 20 minutes before her alarm clock. She was very ungrateful.  But all is forgiven tonight - lucky.

Treat Thursday

Oh man it was hot today.  28c is warm for us and it always hotter than the metservice says it is.  Mum got called into work until 5am.  So when she got home she managed only a couple of hours sleep.  She then got up and went for a walk.  She left me snoozing with the Fan on.  On her way home she got a cool orange ice block - her first of the summer.
She waited until 8pm to make dinner.  A pulled lamb chilli and rice dish with salad.  It was a big helping and very yummy and enough for dinner on Friday night.

Now she has to try to trick herself into going to sleep so she can get up in the morning.  Luckily she has the weekend off to reset her clock.

Garden

Our garden has got a bit overgrown with lots of rain and humid weather (this picture is from a few weeks ago).  So it is time to get the weeds pulled up, and mum got up early to meet a gardener who is going to come next week and pull out the weeds.  Mum is pleased that she organised this last week, because this weekend she slipped over and twisted her knee and doesn't think that she can kneel down to pull out the stubborn weeds or to use the push mower.

In the winter the landlord looks after the garden, but mum takes care of it in the summertime.  Unfortunately it will cost mum a little bit to get it done, but she will have to pay the cost so it is done properly as she doesn't really have a green thumb.    We are lucky to have a nice little spot to sit in and enjoy - mum appreciates a bit of garden - and I think of it as a necessity.

Lush

Today our family had to say goodbye to their lovely girl Lush.  Lush lived her whole life with Big Uncle, Sister in law, Miss Belle and Bud.  She had lots of battles with a sore hip and other health worries, but always wandered round happily and was always willing to share a cream bun with you.  Rest in peace sweet girl - you did good.

The Look of Love

Mum came into the bedroom last night to catch me smooching her new pillow.  We have a time share agrerment.  It is hard overnight and mine during the rest of the hours.

We got asked if we were having a heatwave?  Our metservice says this is the 3rd warmest January since 1909 when records began, and if it continues it may be the hottest ever.  Good job mum bought the fan.

Today was a relaxing day.  More washing done.  Uniform day.  Mum got asked why she does so much washing.  Our washing machine is small - it only fits 4 towels at a time.  I guess she washes 2 lots of towels a week, sheets, a load of clothes, uniforms and during the summer she tries to wash the quilts and blankets.  It us probably mums favorite chore to do to.

Hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday like us.  Mum has been reading and now is watching Game of Thrones.

Hot Caturday

Its still hot here in the city.   Mum finished her work late last night and just as she was heading to bed last night she heard some buzzing.  A naughty cicada had slipped in through the door.  Mum put me in charge of catching it as she had no luck.  So guess what she woke up to?  A deaded cicada on the duvet next to her this morning!!  What a good hunter I am.

Mum pottered around for a while - then headed out for a walk and then off  to meet a bestie.  They went to see The Shape of Water  Movie - which mum loved.  A solid 5/5 for that one.

So it's a quiet evening now at home for us girl.  It is still a warm evening for us.  It might be another fan night tonight!!

Productive Friday

Mum and I got a sleep in today as mum is on shift again.  Still mum got up and cleaned herself, the bathroom and the kitchen.  She has done 3 loads of washing, made lunch and hoovered the floors.  Now she is just going to make her salad for dinner and then has to get ready for work.

Me - well it's time for a rest.

Old Enough

Mum was feeling a bit like an old woman this week.  Sleep has been hard as it has been so warm that she hasn't slept well at all - tossing and turning all night.  So often she has only got a couple of hours.  She loves the fan - but it is a noisy one (well it was cheap).  So each evening once she has had dinner and crashed on the couch she finds herself dozing off - just like she remembers her father and her grandmother doing.  Surely a sign of getting old.

One gentleman today asked mum how she was coping with the heat - mum said it was tough being both hot and a middle aged woman as she was getting both hot inside and outside.  He kept telling mum she wasn't old enough for all that business.  Mum had to reassure him that she most certainly was.

Luckily today we have had a rainy day and the temperatures are a more moderate 18C.   That's another sign of getting old - obsessing about the weather.  One of Gdads favorite birthday gifts was a thermometer that read the temperature inside and on the porch of his house.  Gdad loved telling mum how hot it was at his house on their phone calls.  It even makes mum teary writing about it.

Fantastic

Apparently our city is under a fanmeggedon - it has sold out of fans.  Lucky us mum got ours early.  Last night mum slept on the covers with the Fan going.  She was on call but didn't get called in which is sometimes worse than going to work.

Mum got a cooked chicken and some salad for her dinner - easy peasy.  Me I nibbled on my feast a bit.

It is a bit nicer tonight closer to 10pm and all the doors and windows are wide open.  We live in a safe neighborhood and although mum closes up when we go to sleep she feels safe sitting here feeling the breeze.  Do you feel safe where you live?

Hotness

Holy moly it's rather hot here today.  Mum was glad to be at work in the air conditioning today.  She went for a wee walk after work but it was too hot.  So she had to come home and have a big cold drink.  She then shut the curtains and put the Fan on and lay down next to me.

Mum didn't dish out dinner until 8pm and it cooled down a touch.  Mum could only handle a cold salad for her dinner - cooking is too hard in this heat.

Love

Mum bought a new pillow today.  I think I love it.

Summer Caturday

After a rainy week we got a slice of summer today.  There was sunshine and hotness which was lovely.  Mum loaded up the washing line and I chillaxed trying to keep cool.  Mum went and met her friends for a drink and cake, got some things from the market and made it home with some time to chill out.

Hope your day was as relaxing as ours and you did something fun.

Fridaying

Mum had a bit of a rough sleep last night and the alarm went off far too soon.  Her working day was not too bad though and she got to go out for dinner with a bestie.  Then it was home for a little nap.

The good thing is that mum is tired and tonight is ready for more than a four hour sleep.   Me too - I'm ready for a full night sleep and the weekend to begin.

Thai Teatime

Thai meatballs with salad for dinner - it's a winner!  Today was a bonus day for mum.  She got called in overnight and got the day off work today.  She was rather tired though and even thought she would be productive all day - she was not.  She napped and napped again.  I was helping her.
It's hard being a helper cat - she wouldn't stay in bed all day with me.  Naughty mum.

Green Grass

We know that many if our kitty friends live inside and aren't able to go outside and explore.  We wanted to show you that I love chewing on our green grass.  Cats chew on grass to get nutrients and aid digestion.  It can also make you a little sick but mum says every cat she has had has loved being out in the garden.

Mondaying

Tonight's dinner: periperi panko crumb coated fish with roasted corn and potatoes and salad.  Looked good but mum overcooked it and was a touch dry.

Mum got hone from work and it was a bit hot, so she pulled the curtains, turned on the Fan and lay down next to me for an hour.  Bliss.

Skill

Like most cats I have mastered the art of looking away from the camera.  Tonight I wanted to be left alone.  To not be disturbed.   I'd still like some pats and treats though.

Caturday

Mum had a bit of a middle-aged lady sleep last night.  She read her book and I got a couple of mire cuddles than I usually do.  After buying the Fan it's turned cold - typical.

Mum met a bestie for lunch which was nice.  She looked on the internet last night for new beds and mattresses.  She found one that looked a good deal so she trecked out to the shop at the other end of town, only to find that building had been demolished!!  Apparently they haven't been there for 2 years!! Anyways mum found the new shop on the internets and tracked back into town.  She then test drove a mattress with a little snooze and picked a new one fir us.  Since she bought ours in 1995 she doesn't feel too bad.

Also mum doesn't like the stores policies if jacking the prices of beds up so high so that they can look generous discounting them.  Some shops are selling beds for  $5-7,000 the price of a good second hand car.  Mum did not pay anything like that, but she was a bit shocked when doing her research on the internet.

So it won't be ready for a couple of weeks but mum is looking forward to the super springs, wool and gel layers and comfort topper!

Hope you are all having a lovely Caturday and doing something fun.

Fan of the Fan

Hello fan - I think I love you.  Mum turned you on last night and I was very brave and climbed up on the bed and lay down.   It was lovely.   A bit noisey but oh so cool.

Today we have the tail end if a storm blowing in so we won't need your services, but see you at the weekend.

We have been watching the news - we hope all of our friends in the US are safe from that crazy storm - keep warm and safe.

Filling Up

After the flu epidemic that mum suffered over the holidays she is trying to pile on the fruit and veg.  This morning she made a blueberry/strawberry/banana/pineapple drink.  Tasty and full of vitamin c.
Tonight she came home and made a chicken broccoli pasta and dished it up with a pile of coleslaw.  Tasty and filling and a big pile of leftovers.
We have been having the hots here and the past few nights have been a bit hard to get any sleep.  So mum gave in after work and bought a fan.  At only $30 Mum doesn't feel guilty that she won't need to use it 9 months of the year.  Of course tonight the rain has arrived and the temperature has dropped enough to make it much more comfortable.   Oh well we are ready for the hot nights now.
