Sunshines and Breezes

Today Mum got to go out into the sunshines as she got to do a visit to her hometown city.  She was only there for the day, getting up early and flying in.  Her brother and niece were there to meet her and they had a busy day.  They went to the cemetery and took Gdad and Nan for  a ride up there (their ashes), while they were there they got to speak to the sexton and he was able to organize that mum and dad got to go into their plot.  Then the family went and organised a headstone for the plot.  Once that has been installed they will organize another visit and leave some flowers.  They feel better for having put them together somewhere where the sun will shine on their spot and the gentle breezes from the trees and gardens will blow over them.  Mum will like having a look at the spot, as hers is right next door.  When they bought a plot for their parents, mum asked her brother if she could have one too, so it is all pre bought and paid for so when her times comes she knows where she will go.

A little sushi lunch was in order and then there was a quick visit to the lawyers to sign some papers.  There is a lot of signing after a family death, and it can take some time to get everything sorted out.  Mum also got a new will sorted out for herself this week - it was a good opportunity to put her papers in order in case anything happened to her.  Don't worry I am included in her will, as one of her good friends will take custody of me should mum not be around.

So mum got to go for a walk in the sunshine and spend some time with her family.  She flew home in the evening and got to spend time with me and get a couple of chores done.  Now she is ready for the weekend, and is going to try and have some fun as she has felt a bit trapped the last few weekends due to being so sick.

We hope you have some fun things planned too.

In Your Spot

Mum felt a bit rough when she got home, so after feeding me and herself she put her dressing gown on and popped herself into bed.  She did feel better after a couple of hours sleep.  As she slipped out of bed I slipped in to have myself a little snooze.

Tuesday Today

Today turned into a nice day with a bit of sun shining and mum didn't feel the need to turn the heater on when she got home, although now at 8pm it is a bit cooler and she may turn it on for a while to warm us up.

She had a busy day at work and stayed late.  A few things didn't go her way - when she woke up she felt a bit sniffly again, just as she thought that her cold was on the way out it snuck back in again.  She bought salmon sushi for her lunch which she was looking forward to and when she went to eat it she realized that it was salmon with cream cheese - which she found a bit odd and did not enjoy it much.  As she left work she went to the bathroom and managed to drop her ipod headphones into the toilet bowl and then walking home dropped them on the footpath, but luckily a man walking past picked them up and passed them onto mum.  Luckily also that he did not know where they had been.

So when she got home, she fed the birds who were waiting for her some leftover bread rolls and grapes and dished me out my feast.  She had leftover veg + chicken noodles that she had made last night.  She also had  a small plum pudding that has been in the cupboard since last Christmas - a nice midweek treat!

So now a bit of relaxing for us girls and we are trying for the earliest bedtime of the past week!  Wish us luck!!

Escapism

Once I have greeted the mumster after work, I then usually go outside to freshen up and take in some fresh air.

Mum is a bit tired tonight as she worked late last night.   It was also our first night of day light savings, so she had to cope with only 4 hours sleep.   Me - well I got my usual 23 hour nap.

I back at home minding your spot while you work hard tonight.   See you at midnight.  I will be ready for my feast.

Caturday Mumster Night In

So mums bugs are finally retreating, leaving her with the 20 day cough - you know, one that lingers for another three weeks before it finally departs.  She worked late last night and stayed up watching a couple of programs on the tele to switch her brain off.

Us girls managed a nice sleep in this morning, and mum had a shower and got a couple of chores done.  Washing got put on the line as the sun was partly peaking through and there was a bit of a breeze.  She took herself out for a walk in the fresh air.  She was heading to the market to restock on olive oil and managed to buy herself 2 nightshirts, a tshirt, a pair of leggings and a scarf (all on sale), as well as her oil and a cronut at the market.

She then popped into the supermarket to get something tasty for her dinner.  I was dished up a feast which made me happy.  She cooked herself some roasty sweet potatoes, broccoli and carrots and a small piece of steak, leaving enough for tomorrow nights dinner when she is on shift.  Candles were lit and she sat down and watched The Hunt for the Wilderpeople on the apple tv, which she had been waiting for to see for ages.  She did enjoy it and loved the 13 year old lead - he was awesome.

So now as the evening winds down, mum is going to make the bed for us and is keen to settle down with her book.  So even though it is a quiet night in, she has enjoyed being able to relax at home with me!!

Hope you all had a lovely Caturday and did something fun!

Late Night Eyesl

The munster is working tonight so I have my eye on everything.   It means a midnight feast for me but I like sleeping with a full belly so that will be fine.  Hope you all have full bellies too.

Fight

Mum has turned a corner, her throat has started to calm down and the laryngitis is leaving.  She finished work at 4pm today and as it was payday treated herself to a burger, which was tasty after a week of soup she enjoyed a more solid meal.  So she was warm and comfortable with a full belly and her body desperately wanted a nap.   Sleep has been hard for her for the past week, she has had trouble sleeping at night due to all the coughing, but has found it easy to sleep during the day.  So tonight she really didn't want to lie down, in case she can't sleep tonight.  She fought and fought it, but finally at 7pm had to go and lie down and slept til 10pm.  I curled up next to her and slept on her book so she couldn't read it.

So now, she will sit up up for a couple of hours before heading back to bed.  Luckily she is on shift tomorrow night, so doesn't have to be up early.  So us girls can have a little sleep in which will be nice.

Mum has been listening to a few podcasts and reading things on line that say that a nap is just a little sleep of less than 30 minutes or so, which mum never could do.  Like me it has to be an hour or so to get a decent rest.  How about you guys?  Do you ever nap/sleep for a little while or find it too hard to sleep later?

All Day

Mum went to work today and stayed all day - so that was progress.  She did get told to go home approximately 6 times, but that is because her sore throat makes her sound like she is more poorly than she feels.  She did come home though and had some soup and toast.  Us girls then had a sleep which was good, as mum is on call tonight  and she feels better now that she has had some rest.  As she gets older she can appreciate that she would like my pussy cat life, that she could snooze all the time and stay home - she thinks retirement might suit her.  A pity that it is a few years away.

Monday Again

Mum did go to work this morning, but she only lasted a few hours this morning before she came back home and headed to bed.  Her couching was ongoing, and she hopes it eases as she has had two nights of broken sleep with it.

So it was more chicken soup for her dinner and then it was a feast for me and back to resting!!

Still Nursing

Now the mumster is getting a bit frustrated, as her germs are still sitting around lingering.  Her throat is still sore and she is somewhat husky.  So time to load her up with some pain relief and put her to bed.  She needs to get betterer so she can go back to work and load up with some more fancy feasts at the supermarket.

Caturday Couching

Caturday was a bit of a slow one today.  The mumster is still trying to kick her cold and so she made it from the bed to the couch, back to the bed, onto the couch and now we are preparing to head back to bed again.  The weather was a bit rough today too with rain more of less none stop, but we have noticed it stopped about 8pm, so maybe tomorrow might be a bit better.

I have been a good nurse and helping mum rest.

Hope you all had a lovely Caturday and got some fun stuff done.

Waiting for Dinner

Mum got no sleep last night as she was coughing last night and her throat felt crazy sore and all swollen like it was lined with felt.  So she took today off work, as she had no voice and was still coughing and sneezing - no good for hospital work.  After a morning nap she got up and showered and planted herself on the couch.

At 4pm she noticed that the birdies had lined themselves up on the washing line and fence.  Guess they were waiting for their dinner.  It had been a rainy day and there was a little break in the weather.  She had no seeds to put out for them, but cut ups some leftover grapes/apples and bread to put out for them.  I went out and helped too.  Hope they all got their dinner - as the rain came back.

Try Something New Thursday - Nutribullet

So for try something new Thursday this week the mumster wanted to let you know that she splurged last week and bought a Nutribullet 900.  It had finally dropped down at the store and was under 1/2 the usual price, so she thought now was the time to jump on the juicing bandwagon.  Also she had bought a pineapple last week for $2 so it seemed the perfect reason to juice it up!!  She is trying to get some more balance in her life, and eat more fruit and vegetables so this seemed a good way to keep that going.

So straight out of the box it was pretty easy to use, and mum has eaten a lot more fruit in the past week.  She is not quite ready for the green juices, adding the spinach or kale, she might leave that for closer to summer.  Now she is quite happy to use banana/strawberries/pineapple and a bit of water.  A good way to get fresh stuff in, when she would often struggle to eat the fresh fruit she finds it much easier to drink.  The bonus is that there is much less waste, as any leftover fruit she just freezes to use later in other drinks.  The cup and blade are also pretty easy to clean and the unit doesn't take up much space, so she is happy to recommend it to all of our friends considering buying one.

The irony is though - that after a week of fresh fruit juices she has got a rotten old cold, but she knows that that comes from working at a hospital with lots of germs.  She is resting up though and having lots of fluids and filling up lots of tissues.

Thanks

Thanks for your good wishes - the mumster is feeling okish today, but that is more because the germs have shifted to her chest and she doesn't feel the headaches, but her ears hurt which for her is a sign of impending poorliness.  Tonight she is on call, and then hopefully she can get some rest.  She came home and made a light dinner and then napped on the couch.  I napped on the bed - on her towel again.  I am very possessive about it and want to keep it to myself.

Mondayitis

The mumster got herself up earl and dragged herself to work.  She is fearful that she is growing some bugs though, she has a sore throat and heavy chest feeling.  Work went pretty well, but as soon as she got home she got her pyjamas on, had an easy dinner of leftovers and put herself to bed.  She hopes that the germs go away, so an early night for us girls.  I have been happy snoozing away on her bed.  She left her towel on the bed from this mornings shower and I have been busy drying it for her with my body heat.

Helper Cat

I helped mum out again today in the garden.  She went for a walk by the seaside this afternoon to get some fresh airs.  The clouds were clearing and the sun was trying to shine, although it was still a bit chilly.  She enjoyed her couple of hours out and went and picked up some supermarket supplies on the way home for us.

The birdies were busy waiting for their treats.  They must have been hungry as lots were gathering.  Mum says she will put out some fruit for them tomorrow, so they get a balanced diet.

Caturday Exploring

The skies cleared a bit today but the chill remained.  I did venture out for a little exploring, but spend most of day retreating to my mums bed.  I like to hunt for bugs in the pile of weeds the gardener left.

Hope you all got something fun done on your Caturday.

Looking Out the Window

I have been looking out the window the past few days because it has been so chilly/windy/wet.  Mum did put out some bread for the birdies, and they have been enjoying chasing the crumbs round the back yard.  She will put some more out tomorrow as they must have been hungry as they try and shelter from the bad weather.  At least I get to stay inside and keep warm and dry.  Hope you are all ready for the weekend and have some fun things planned.

Chilly Reminder

Today is a chilly reminder that winter has not left us completely.  We woke to a chilly morning with sleet and hail.  Luckily we could have a little snuggle and mum left all the quilts on the bed so I was not too cold, although the heaters get turned off while she is at work, I can snuggle up on her bed.

When she came home, she came straight inside and turned the heaters on full and started making tea.  A feast for me and then she made some chicken and broccoli and pasta alfredo for her dinner.  Now we relax.

Helper Cat

I helped my mum out this afternoon.  She was putting leftover bread rolls out for the birds dinner and I helped by rolling round and looking cute.  I was hoping to eat a bird but they were too quick for me.

Mumster Monday

Today was a Mumster Monday.  Us girls got a good old sleep in, getting up at 8:30am is sure better than getting up at the usual alarm time.  Mum got some washing done and some other chores.  She watched a documentary last week about some obsessive/compulsive cleaners and one that bleached her toilets 5 times a day and steam cleaned it once.  Mum is pretty happy with the scrub she gave hers.

She made some soup and toast for her lunch and enjoyed it so much she repeated it for her dinner as well.  She was glad to have saved some money by not spending any today as tomorrow she will head out and do some jobs and has budgeted for that.

Me - well I slept on a blanket, then on mums towel, then on the her sheets and then back on the quilt, so I shared my furs around.  Living the dream!

Happy Fathers Day

Today was fathers day and we hope all the dads out there had a lovely day with hugs and kisses, good food and lotto tickets of course!!  This is our Gdad and nana.  Gdad died this year and mum misses them every day.  He would want everyone to have a magnum for their supper - so go ahead treat yourself!!

The mumster worked today and it was busy and non stop.  She got to have a lunch break, but the rest of the day was spent rushing around without sitting down.  Sometimes mum wishes she had a desk job where she got to sit on her butt all day.  She knows it is meant to be good for you to be on your feet, but it sure was hard work.  So tonight, she is ready to crash and us girls are heading to bed real early.  So nighty nite!!

Caturday Cuddles

I  only got a quick cuddle this morning with my mum, cos she is a working girl (not that kind!!!).  She had to head off earlyish and I got to stay at home and keep the bed warm while mum earned some morning to pay for the feast.

When she finished she got to walk in the sun on the way home.  Dinner was easy - she had some left over chicken and potato salad.  She had a middle aged mumster night in and watched Dads Army on the tv which was a bit ok - not great.  So now us old ladies are having an early night all ready for another working day.

Hope you had a nice weekend everybuddy!!
