Mild Winter

As we near the end of winter, some warmth has finally come back and we have had three evenings in a row where we have been able to open the windows for a short while to let the breeze in and not needed the heat pump on.  We only learnt this year that many people in the US use their air conditioners so much in the summer, that power bills are more expensive.  Luckily for us, both our summers and winters are rather mild here, and we only use ours to heat in the winter, and in the summer open our windows and doors.  We do look forward to more outdoors time though, it is much nicer for mum to go for a stroll when the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing her about.

Almost the weekend - yippee!!

Sleepy

Mum is still trying to shake the end of the flu.  She feels 80% back to normal, but you know when you wake up and still feel stuffed up, and have a little bit of a cough.  While she was sick, her sleeping pattern was disrupted, so mum had to use her willpower to not have a nap this afternoon, so she will sleep better tonight.  So the aim is to head to bed at 9pm and get a good ten hours or so.  Me - well I headed off to start snoozing at 5pm this evening, so I am well ahead of her.

Old Photos - Memories of Big Uncles Hat

One weekend many years ago, big Uncle came to stay and he arrived, said hello to mum then went out to find some dinner.  He left his bag and his hat on the bed.  Mum laughed and laughed as she took pictures of me rolling around on the bed, and finally sleeping in big uncles hat.  Mum and miss belle were laughing when they told this story to Miss Belles boyfriend last week.  I loved that hat!!

Little Shadow

I am mums little shadow when she is home.  If she goes to the bathroom I often follow here,  I like to sit in the lounge with her and often I follow her to the bedroom.   This afternoon I followed her to bed for a wee nap - just perfect for a snoozy Sunday.

Caturday

Caturday is drawing to a close here, and a lovely sunny day too.  The mumster and I awoke to the alarm at 7am, and mum finally jumped out of bed at 7.50am as she realised she had to be somewhere just after 9am.  She ambitiously had decided to meet a bestie for a little brunch before heading off to the art show.  Her and her friends had a great wander round, then a little spin of window shopping before heading off to see a movie in the afternoon.

Me - well I fluffed up mums blanket as you can see, made cat shadows and took it easy!!  Hope you are taking it easy too.

Lazy

Tonight I'm on the couch stealing my mumsters spot, forcing her to sit in the middle.  Tough luck lady - I got here first.

Mum was glad it is Friday and nice to get home.  She spoke to a couple of besties on the phone which made her smile.  They were being lazy too, but maybe not as lazy as mum.

She was so lazy that she didn't get out of her uniform til 7pm, and then she got into her fat pants (track suit bottoms), a merino jumper and ugg boots.  A beautiful sight.

She was so lazy, that she ate her icecream dessert before she made dinner (blame that on the lady homones).  She did then make chicken and rice and vegetables.

She was so lazy that she didn't do half the chores she had planned, and has a lot on during the day tomorrow so they might have to wait til Sunday to get sorted.  (she felt guilty writing that one, so while she put the dishes in the sink to soak while she washed her face, and made the spare bed up while the adbreaks were on tv, so two chores are out of the way).

Still she gave me lots of cuddles and have a play with me when she got home as the evening was warm and she opened the doors and windows to let some fresh air in.

Hope you all are having a lovely lazy Friday night.

Naps

Mum felt all stuffed up this morning and a bit of the hots and colds on the way to work. She felt the same round lunchtime, so she came home sick and took herself off to bed.  We quite enjoyed the nap, she slept from 3pm -8.30pm, and got up to feed me dinner, have a drink and a stretch and is heading off for an early night to try and get rid of the germs.  So many people are the same at work at the moment, it seems to be the seasonal flu attacking lots of patients and staff.    Luckily the oranges are cheap at the supermarket at the moment as mum has been ploughing through them to get lots of vitamin C the natural way.

Cabin Fever

Mum is going a bit stir crazy being at home.  Although she has had lots of rest, sleep has been a bit erratic  from the sniffing and coughing that has hounded her.  She is on the mend - thank you for all of the good wishes.  She has had lots of fluids and oranges, and tonight felt ok enough to make some steak, peas and mashed potatoes for her dinner.  Seeing as I have been a good nurse, I was allowed a bit of milk which I enjoyed.

We have watched lots of big clouds pass on by the past couple of days,  they had bought snow to places both South and North of us, but left our hills alone.  It feels like the depths of winter now, and mum has enjoyed visiting our friends blogs and seeing how many of them are enjoying lots of sunshine.

Hope you are all having a good week.

Nurse Poppy

Today I did my nursing duty and scrunched up on the sofa arm on my Gizzy quilt next to the mumster and told her to rest and take it easy like you all recommended.  She kept up her fluids and vitamin C.  I did that for a couple of hours, but even a nurse like myself needs her time off.  So - I have had my feast for dinner and am back curled up on the bed catching up on my zzzzs.

Grease

So this afternoon, the mumster dosed herself up on flu medicine, and wrapped up warm in lots of winter layers to leave the house.  One of her besties had organised some tickets to see Grease, and although she was worried that she would cough the house down a good supply of water and a sleeve full of tissues kept the noise at bay.

The ten year old girl inside her enjoyed the show, put on by the Wellington musical society.  It had a live band, and a large cast all of whom could hold a tune.  The show is fun and mum said it was nice to see so many young ones there, with lots of family in the audience.  When you think of it, Grease is a pretty grown up story that I am sure skips over the young kids heads, and they enjoy all the singing and dancing too.

Mum remembers going to the movie with her mum when she was ten, and listening to the album over and over which she got for Christmas that year.  She is sure that she knows most of the words to the songs too.  Now with DVDS, mum couldn't tell you how many times she has seen the movie although she hasn't watched it in the last six years or so she does smile when it is repeated on the tele every holiday season.

So home to turn the heaters on and feed me my feast.  An easy dinner was made for mum and then she spoke to Gdad to catch up on the weeks events.  Feet up and a bit of tele before mum heads to bed to get rid of her persistent germs.

Hope you all had a fun Sunday!!

Caturday

Caturday was super chillaxing today.  Me and mum stayed in bed til 9am and mum thinks she got an almost 10 hours sleep thanks to codral night and day flu tablets.  Normally she doesn't like to take pills, but sometimes a flu table will help her sleep when she is all congested.

So she wrapped up warm and spent the day on the couch with some lemsip, her book and some episodes of Broadchurch she had recorded from weeks ago.  She did venture out at dinner time, as the supply of cat biscuits was getting on the low side.  She got a chicken with some coleslaw for her dinner and dished me up a feast for mine.

So we are going to try for an early night tonight as well.  It is cold in the city, the sort of cold that creaps in from the floor and chills down the house, so the heater will be on to ward the chilliness away and keep us toasty.  We know that we only have a few more weeks of bleak grey weather and it will once again swing toward spring.  Someone we work with said that they were out last week and saw peach blossoms already starting!!

Hope you all had a fun day today and enjoyed your Caturday!!

Grown Up

The house feels empty tonight, as Miss Belle and her beau have headed home.  Our sweet niece is a very smart and beautiful grown up 18 year old, but mum still found it hard having to send them onto a plane today, after awakening to see footage of the plane crash.  How terrible - the news is reporting that there were 80 children aboard.

I was not having much to do with the visitors, although last night I was in and out a lot, although mum thought that had a lot to do with it being cold and wet outside.  So tonight I have needed an uber big sleep to catch up on my zzzzzzs.   Mum went with the teenagers into town this morning, as they had some stuff they wanted to buy.  They had some lunch together and then mum let them take the airport bus to the airport and get onto the plane themselves, as it is good for them to have some skills.  Miss Belle is very capable and mum is proud that she was quite confident to take them both out and about while mum was sick in bed on Wednesday.  Her flu is still sticking around, so mum is sure this weekend will be quiet as she recovers.

Hope you all have some nice plans for your weekend.

Wishing For Sunbeams

Wow - we have been wishing for sunbeams these past two days.  It has been blustery and a southerly wind has blown some frozen air up our way.  Worst of all, as mum went to the airport to pick up her niece and friend mum knew she was getting sick.  So yesterday she was wiped out and spent the day in bed, unable to take the kids out and about.

She is feeling a bit better, so today took them out for lunch, some shopping and to sushi train for dinner, which was tasty.  So off to bed with some tissues soon for her, and hopefully I can sneak in and sleep at her feet.

Chilling

I am just chilling at home, although mum dragged the sucky motor around the place today as we have some visitors for a couple of days.  Miss Belle and her boyfriend have come for a visit.  Mum is pleased that they are here, and they had a nice afternoon in town and a dinner out.  Mum then let the teenagers go to a movie by themselves, as she thinks she is getting a cold so was glad to come home and put her feet up.

So I have had my feast and am hiding in mums bed, as it is a bit cold, and mum hopes I don't get too scared by the visitors.

Snuggle In

We had a nice snuggle in day at home today - with rain swirling round lightly outside, mum thought it was the perfect day to stay inside with her slippers on, and avoid stepping outdoors.  I agreed!!

We did get up early so mum could watch the football final - which was a bit underwhelming but well done to Germany.  Other than that we just cruised.  A bit of feast for dinner for me, and potato and leek soup for her.

Relaxication

Let the relaxicating begin!!!  The mumster was able to pack away the on call cell phone tonight, and head home via the supermarket where she partook in buying such essentials as fancy feast, salami and grapes - yummo!!!  Then she came home, fired up the heaters and rang the family for a bit of weekly chit chat.  Dinner was served and the relaxing has begun.  Yes cats and kitties, me and the mum have a relaxication booked this week.  Lots of dining, and sleeping in is planned.  Yippeee!!

Relaxing Caturday

Hi Caturday Kitties - have you got your relax on?  Are you chilling out?  I got to send the mumster off to work today, although she did get up at 7am and have a shower and fix her grey hairs.  Then she got back into bed and read and then dozed off for another hour or so, and I sat right on top of her lap so she could warm me up.  After that she was at work for six hours before she came back to have her dinner and feed me the feast.  Off to work for another three hours till she was finally home by 11pm.  So we have an hour or two of relaxing before sleep glorious sleep.

So another day of working tomorrow, and then lucky old us - mum gets to have a few days off in a row - yippee!!!  More sleep ins are planned for us.

Hope you are all getting some sleep ins too.

TGIF

Mum happened to glance out the window this morning to spy this lovely sunrise.  That must mean that she was up far too early!!!  Of course red skies in the morning means it will rain on mum just as she leaves the supermarket after work carrying five bags - oh well.  Work was steady and mum was glad to get home and rest her weary legs.  Some days like today when mum has to stand up all day wearing heavy lead aprons in the operating theatre are hard on mums middle aged lady legs.

So tonight she is glad it is Friday evening, and she is able to relax at home. I demanded dinner as soon as she got home at 4:30pm, and was off to bed by 5pm.  Remeber I have to get in my 15 hour night time sleep (it is winter time and I would prefer to be up by 8am at the earliest!!!).  Mum is about to make herself a hand made burger and tackle the dishes before putting a load of washing on.  She has to work over the weekend, so even though it is TGIF here - it will be an early Friday night.  Hope you are all having a chill night too!!.

Old Photos - Bookworm

Mum has been enjoying looking back on all of these old photos.  Look at me being a bookworm!!  Actually it is mum who is chewing through the books.  Winter evenings are perfect for curling up in bed with a book and a pile of warm blankets.  Mum got called out of bed at 3am this morning to go to work, so it meant she didn't have to go to work til 1pm and then could be back home just after 5pm.

We hope that you all have a cosy bed to curl up and are finding plenty of good books to read too.

Old Photos

Mum was digging round in the archives and looking at old photos.  There sure are plenty of me and they made her smile.  This one was from 2009 - look at how young I looks.  Not even a wrinkle!!!  Mum wishes she could say the same.

Tuesday night was easy peasy.  Baked beans on toast for her and a feast for me.  I have already put myself to bed by 7pm, and mum is aiming to join me at 10pm.  That way she can get a good nights rest.

I Spy

I like to play I spy and look over the fence at the neighbours place.  In fact this morning mum caught me out the front of our place going for a nosey pose and look around their garden.  How brave am I?

Monday morning was not mums finest.  She had to be at work at 7am, so for her that means getting up at 5am, which means she should be turning her lights out before midnight, but her book was good.  Getting up to go to the bathroom at 4am didn't help either.  So she was glad to get home this afternoon, after a visit to the library and to the supermarket.  She put on her comfy "I hope someone doesn't see me in these" home pants on (track pants), her sheepskin slippers and a comfy jumper.  She had got some DVDs out from the library to watch, and started watching Blue Jasmine, before nodding off half way through.

So after a short nap, mum fed me my feast, and started cooking dinner.  Tonight was Green Thai chicken curry with  vegetables and rice for her.  Lots of leftovers too for lunches for the next couple of days.  Television for the evenings entertainment and bed at a more reasonable hour tonight.

Sunshiney Sunday

We were really lucky to have two days of sunshine this weekend.  And warm too, warm enough for mum to dry the sheets on the line and have some doors and windows open.  Mum went out for another walk, she needed some olive oil, swedes to make mash (turnips).  She popped into the warehouse and got a sweatshirt and tshirt cheap on special, as she wants to keep going out for walks and wanted some comfy walking clothes.  The one thing she was looking for she was unable to find, which was a brochure to this years Wellington International Film Festival, which is on in a couple of weeks.  She does know that she will be able to get a booklet soon, so that won't be a problem.

Mum was glad the weather was so nice so she walked around the harbour of our little city.  She stopped at the weekend market and got a German hotdog for her lunch which was tasty, and she got to sit and watch the people go by and look at the sailing boats, all very refreshing.  A quick visit to the library and then the supermarket, and she made it home in time to claim the sheets off the washing line before the frost made them damp again.  Me - well I did a lot of napping, both in the sun and in the bedroom.

Dinner was leftover steak and veg from last night, with quick calls to big uncle and his family and to Gdad.  Now a bit of blogging and time to read for a while before the working week starts again.

Caturday Evening

Woop woop it is a big night here in the Caturday kitty house.  The mumster and I slept late, like 10:30am late - like mum was in her dressing gown at midday!!!  She had had a showere and got some washing done, and thought she should head out and enjoy the glorious day.  The sun was shining and warm while she walked about.  I rolled around outside, and she went for  a walk down by the surf beach, and then went and got some groceries.

Dinner for me was my new sachets of food I am trying, and mum had some nice fillet steak, with oven baked potatoes and some mixed veg.  She likes a bit of meat and 3 veg - simple foods.

Television was watched and now mum is catching up on blogs next to me on the bed.  She took these pictures just a half hour or so.  After months of sleeping in the lounge, I'm back on her bed baby!!!  Get ready to be furred!!

Hope you all had a fun Caturday - had a wee treat or two.

Intense

Mum says it has been an intense 13 days of working in a row and she is grateful to have most of the weekend free to relax and take it easy.  She finished work and rushed down to her hairdresser and was surprised to be the only customer in the salon, so it was just her and her stylist and the receptionist.  So mum got special treatment and felt very relaxed, as it is often noisy and busy with lots of customers there.

A quick and easy dinner for mum and some feast for me at a regular time - hallelujah!!!  Mum did laugh as I tried to snuggle on her knee about three times tonight, another sure sign that the weather has turned for us.

We hope all of our  American friends are enjoying their holiday and loving the hots.  We are green with envy at the thought of eating outside and being warm.  Have a steak and a piece of pie for us!!!

Last of the Late Shifts

Mums run of late shifts is just about over.  I will be super glad when dinner time resumes as over.  It is getting chilly here.  Last night mum caught me rummaging in her wardrobe, she pulled me out and I scratched her for good measure.  Ten minutes later I was back in there, so she put me in her bed.  I clung next to her for half an hour and then spent the rest of the night snuggled in between the quilts.  A sure sign that winter weather has arrived for certain.

Keep warm and toasty my friends.

Waiting Again and Hello July!!!

OMG - late again with dinner.  By the time mum got home tonight all the biscuits had disappeared - I wonder who ate them?  Mum is trying me on some new foods and the good news is that I am tucking in each night and enjoying it.  Mum even thinks my furs looked a bit shinier today.  It may just be that I am staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarving by the time she gets home.

So she will see how I go after a few more meals at a normal time.

July already - how did that happen?
