Can You Help My Mum?

Mum spent the weekend updating our lounge. She bought a new chair, and has ordered a new couch. She has been looking for a rung and found these on-line. They are all polyester and she wonders if any of you have a shaggy rug? Are they a pain, do they shed fibre a lot?
Mum says because she has spent lots of money, she will buy one of these cheaper ones and then she can spend longer looking for a good wool one, they are lots of money, and believe it or not with lots of sheep in this country they are quite expensive.
Mums new chair is a neutral colour and the the couch will be almost a poppy Q colour. Our other couch is blue, but one day she will get it recovered.
What do you think? Mum is thinking the top one, which is described as steel grey and is a grey black mix.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

  1. Dogs = shaggy rug = No. Not when they're diggers. They tend to make rugs shaggy! I have a few rugs, but they're short pile so the pooches can't get hold of the fibers.

But, I don't believe shag rugs shed. Oh, I'm no help! :)

  2. We don't have any shaggy rugs as #1 loves oriental rugs. Our only concern regarding the top one is that you might become invisible on it, Poppy!

  3. Cats + Shag Rug = NO

At least as far as Momma is concerned! Mom is in the process of removing all carpets and replacing them with hard floors. Much easier to clean up after us! Mom is almost done replacing the carpet because Nana and Grampy want to keep their carpet in their 2 rooms, but we are Not Allowed in their rooms anyway.

  4. Mama had a shaggy rug. Then we got fleas one summer and so did the rug. She washed it and that was OK but it was a pain to wash.
The new short pile rug is much better and a lot easier to vacume.

  5. All I can think is cat barf + shaggy rug = huge mess and difficult to clean!

  6. My mom likes the look of the top one, but says without seeing it in real life she cannot be sure.

    Send tickets, please!

  9. We tend to claw shaggy rugs and then they get snags which look horrible.

  12. We just have oriental rugs as well--one expensive that is wonderful on the claws and a couple of cheaper ones which I ignore...

  13. We have a synthetic shaggy rug and it's pawsome. It doesn't shed and only needs a quick run over with a hoover

  14. We like the bottom one best, because it looks sort of mod and cool!

  16. For what it's worth, I like the top one too, and so does M. It's very pretty. Your new lounge is going to be bootiful.

  18. The color is beautiful but mommy mentioned to me that shaggy rug is out because I would catch my claws in it all the time and one day she might not be there to help me get un-hooked. AND after thorough vacuuming after a while (she had experience) the shags get loose. PLUS kitty throwing up is hard to clean.

  19. We have a short shaggy rug called a 'frisee' and it hides the litter tracking (almost too well) and actually is pretty easy to clean our upchuck spots from. But on our hardwood floors, we have area rugs from IKEA, cheap and easy to clean--made of sisal
