Shock

We are all in shock, all around our little country. Searchers have been arriving from around the country and the world, as there are approx 300 people missing, mostly in the central city of Christchurch.

Mum normally has a survival kit at every house she lives in, but needs to organise her one for our new house. We need supplies so that we could camp outside and look after ourselves for a few days if a disaster like this one happened.

Thanks for all of your good thoughts and concern. Our little country could use it.

  3. Such devastation... it's so awful, what they are going through there. Do you know that my city (Los Angeles) sent a special rescue team to Christchurch? They have been at many earthquakes and disasters over the past 20+ years and are the tops in their field. I hope they are able to work some miracles there.

  9. Poppy everyone is praying for you all. Seems nearly everyone we speak to knows someone in NZ. One of Mom's coworkers goes to Christchurch nearly every year. He has told her what a beautiful and friendly city it is and that NZ is a very friendly city. We had no idea Christchurch was on a fault. God bless you all,
    Madi and Mom

  14. Poppy - we're so happy you are okay, but feel so bad for all the people and animals in your country. We were happy to find out on Twitter dat all the pals we have in your country are okay - devasted over what has happened, but they are all alive and well. Our good buddy Rumblepurr, who also has a blog, immediatley started a chip-in fund to help the anipals of your country. I please to report dat so far $700 has been raised and will go directly to the SPCA in your country. We hope to raise even more dollars. Between Twitter and our blogging ccommunity, word is spreading. You are not being forgotten over there. Oh, and how scary those aftershocks must be. One of our other Twitter pals reported the afershocks are very scary because they afraid more buildings will fall. Stay safe sweetie.

  23. Poppy,
We live in earthquake country too. Make sure Mum has plenty of kitty treats, biscuits, and food in that kit. Also make sure the cat carrier is clean and easy to find. Sometimes kitties need to live in the carrier to be safe.
