End of the World Reading Challenge

There is a part of mum that scoffs at the idea of the world ending on Friday the 21st.  Then another part of her is worried that the world will end, and she won't have finished reading The Passage, the book she has on the go on her Kindle.  She is at 85% read, and as it is a huge book, she knows she will have to read 5% every day so that she knows how it finishes.  She also knows that it is part one of three books, so no doubt it will be some sort of cliffhanger.

Just in case the world doesn't end she bought me lots of  fancy feast cans at the supermarket tonight.  She also came home and made butter chicken and rice for herself for dinner, swept up some leaves in the garden, weeded and watered some plants, did some washing, a whole load of dishes and swept the floors.  Tonight she is going to sit down and watch some tele before heading to bed with her Kindle.

  3. What with business being busy and preparing for our Christmas visit I haven't given a thought to the Mayan calendar thing, and probably won't. No time for reading now, but I shall bring my Kindle and read lots on vacation! I just started a 7-book series. It will take me some time to get through them all!

I'm on a low-calorie, low-fat, low sodium soup and fresh fruits diet this week... trying to lose the final 6 pounds to make my short-term goal of 30 pounds by Christmas. It's not looking probable but I am giving it a go!

    Have a lovely day, ladies!

  4. Our mum doesn't think the world is ending on the 21st. She says the Mayans had to end their calendar at sometime. They couldn't go on into infinity so the winter solstice is as good a day as any to end it on.
Hmm, we just thought, you must call it the summer solstice.

  5. We don't think your mum has to worry about the end of the world. LOL. The idea was that the calendar would start over again, from what our human has read. And while humans don't know much about the nature of the universe even now, they know a heck of a lot more than they did thousands of years ago. :-)

  6. I wouldn't worry about the world ending. The people who believe the Mayans knew what they were talking about don't seem to believe in anything else the Mayans did, such as human sacrifice... Besides, if they could tell the future, you'd think they would've done something to prepare for the arrival of Europeans...

  8. One of Mommy's all time fave books! The second in the series is just as good--The Twelve. We're optimistic your Mum will have a chance to read it!

  9. The world will not end on December 21st. The lady knows these things.
    She has a cat calendar.

Love Bellen's comment just above..."Besides, if they could tell the future, you'd think they would've done something to prepare for the arrival of Europeans..."

  10. The Zombie Apocalypse better not happen - because if it does, I will never know what happens at the end of the Game of Thrones series!

  12. I'm all prepared for the end of the world. I'm demanding extra attentions and treats all week, just in case! Then, when the world doesn't end, everyone will be super-relieved and pet me even more! WINWIN!

  13. If the world ends then mum figures she won't remember what she was reading, so won't care if it was finished. But mum figures it won't be ending.

  14. Oh my Cod, our mom hadn't thought about that. We better tell her to get reading, she just started her first book on her Kobo.

She says, we shouldn't be worried, it's all like the year 2000, when ever computer was supposed to crash, planes were going to fall out of the sky, etc...didn't happen, thank Cod!

  16. Our mum says she'll eat drink and be merry and worry about those pesky holiday pounds after the 21st. Some excuse for filling her tummy, huh!
