Layers

Due to the winter snap starting as soon as our summer was officially over, we have had to layer up the bed and put some feathery quilty things back on the bed.  Of course my job was as snoopervisor and to check out each part of the quilt is up to my standards.

Last night, mum made a roasty chicken with sweet potatoes and peas for dinner, a good hearty feed.  Soup and toast has been organised for the following week day lunches - yummy.  A big pile of fancy feast has been brought in to keep me satisfied.  In fact mum says with a supermarket two minutes walk away, it is hard to avoid being there every day.

Mum doesn't feel so exhausted today as she got a good nights sleep last night.  I did still wake her up this morning at birdy o'clock.  Birdy o'clock is about 5am when the neighbourhood birds wake up chirping and are frisky around the place.  It wakes me up for an hour or two, before I fall back into bed all tired from having my eyes open too long.

Hope you are all having a rocking Tuesday.

  5. I recall now that in the summer here there is one bird who starts chirping long before sunrise. Just one bird. Is he the one who wakes all the others? He certainly wakes me... I'm glad your mum got some sleep and is feeling a little rested. Toast and soup, especially a cream-soup, mmmm...

  6. It's nice to snuggle up in a nice toasty bed isn't it? We've actually had one last snow storm (at least I HOPE it's the last), but we're ready to take the snuggly stuff OFF the bed!

  7. That quilt looks pretty comfy, Poppy. Take heart, it'll never get as cold there as it is here. LOL. (Of course, it's all a matter of what you're accustomed to!)

We're glad your mum got a good night's sleep...It's so difficult to cope with the every day challenges when exhausted. (((Hugs)))

  8. We used to live just a couple of blocks (less, really) from a Trader Joe's, which is a specialty market that has really good food. That was handy! Now we are a 5 minute walk from there, only it is uphill coming back (when she has a load of groceries), so it is not as fun for her. One of the things we like about our part of Los Angeles is being close enough to walk to so many things - rare in this city.

  12. Having a market nearby is helpful with being able to shop for fresh items.

  14. I love a cozy quilt to snuggle into. But sorry to hear the colds have come your way. Very cold here. Mum has to wear her quilty parka, hat, mitts and winter boots and two pairs of wooly socks. Me, I just stay warm at home. Meow,Jessica
