Reading
Mum used to write in her other blog about the movies she went to and the books she read, but Covid made her take a break. Her book reading has slowed down a bit. She finished this book this morning and she gave it a 5/5. She could not wait to sit down to read it each night.
Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell is the story about the son of William Shakespeare and his young life. Focused mainly on his story and the story of his mother Agnes, his famous father is mostly absent. There are some beautiful and tragically sad scenes in this book, and it has been some time since mum has enjoyed a book so much.

Caturday
I had a lonely Caturday. Mums alarm went off at 5.44am to get her to work early. So I was in charge of the house. Time to spread some furs waiting for her to come home.

Fridayze
I was glad when mum got home tonight. It is hard for her to capture happy photos of me as I live a quiet life. When she got her key in the lock I had my nose pressed up to the door to greet her, calling out to her. First stop for middle aged lady mum is usually the loo, then straight to dishing out my dinner. I got extra temptations tonight so I was super happy. Friday is going well my friends.

Thursday
I'm taking the time to enjoy the outdoors while the weather is settled. We're only four weeks away from our winter solstice and the shortest day and our days will get longer. As you can see the back lawn is green and lush.
Mum is tired. A busy shift and now on call overnight until 7am and then an early shift tomorrow. Time to relax tonight though for an hour. A couple of treats on the couch before she heads to bed to read for a while and we get our last snuggle on.

Grass
You saw my movie at the weekend of me chewing on the green grass in the weekend. It's something I like to do. Mum thinks I like it because it's tasty. I'm seldom sick after eating grass, mum thinks I like the roughage and need my fiber. Just like she needs to eat her greens too.

Autumnal Evening
After a rainy but warm day the skies are clearing, dragging in the cooler weather. Streaks of Grey and orange lit up the skies before it got dark tonight. Mum tries to keep dinner simple and quick, tonight was a simple tray bake. Kumera and sausages baked for 20 minutes, then chopped broccoli, red onion +red pepper mixed in. Olive oil and lemon squeezed on top with salt and pepper and back into the oven for another 20. Mum said it was delicious and gave her leftovers for another meal.
I had a feast - it was a good one with lots of gravy. Time to snooze now.

Sunday
Well it's been a quiet day here. Mum stayed home with me and we just chilled. It was windy and cool outside and mum put her slippers on and didn't move further than from the bedroom to the living room. She did venture outside to put the rubbish out and to feed the birds.
I had a quiet day today too and did much the same as mum. Purrfect.

Signs of Winter
So there have been signs of winter creeping in. It could be the dark mornings or nights, it could be the coldest night of the year. Mum says it is me rediscovering my heated bed. First time mum has plugged it in since October 2020. I have been in it all night and all day.

Glow
On the way to work this morning there was a large rainbow sitting right over mums side of town. Such a pretty sight to start the day.

Mum got home last night and found the present i left her on the bed. Dead mousie number 2. I'm teaching her to hunt.

Chicken
Mum was at her friends house last week and saw there beautiful chicken just sitting quietly in the garden. Such beautiful feathers, mum never knew that chickens could have such dark iridescent plumage.

Sunday
Mum took this picture on her way to work during the week. This morning it was not quite so clear. At 6.20am as she left, it was drizzling and dark. Still its only a 30minute walk to work. Time to listen to a podcast and think about the supermarket shopping list. Mmmm - nachos for dinner.

Caturday
Another quiet Caturday here at chez Q. Mum was working the early shift up at 5am. Still she was home with her dinner at 4pm which was nice as early tea for me too. It avoids the junk food feasting if she eats early.

Chilling
Just chilling here on a Friday. Mum worked I slept. Mum had soup and toast for dinner and has been nodding off on the couch, so she is off to bed at 8.30pm as she has to be up early for work on Saturday morning.

Change
The weather has been lovely the past week with warm sunny days and frosty nights. Today was the first rain in some time, but it was only a light drizzle and didn't last too long. Mum used it as an excuse to not do too much.
She almost missed getting the recycling out in time this morning. She may have heard the truck pull up and had to chase it a bit to get her two bags in. Good one mum.

Window
Mum had a day off today I got dragged to the vet for my arthritis injection. So I came home and sulked for 8 hours. Mum did the chores and then rewarded herself with a library visit and then went to the movies to see Nomadland. She enjoyed it, but wouldn't rave about it - 3.5/5. On the way home she saw this little window. Cute!!

Delivery
Well that's a surprise. Mum got home tonight and the new electric blanket had been delivered. She only ordered it on Sunday an and it was here by Monday. Good job Briscoes. I was so snuggled up on mums bed tonight that mum didn't want to disturb me and she will put it on the bed tomorrow.

Frozen
Last night was the chilliest of the year for us with the mercury dropping to 6degC . We know our Canadian/Russian/Swedish friends may mock our shivering but it is chilly for us. Mum had switched the electric blanket on but when she popped into bed it was stone cold. It appeared that it chose this particular night to die. Even I climbed between mums knees for a snooze for 30 minutes, the first knee snuggle of the year.
Mum got straight onto the Briscoes website and doing the electric blankets were half price this weekend, so a replacement was ordered (they are always having a weekend sale so no one pays full price there). And hallelujah she got an email to say that her order has been packed and sent. So we're on parcel watch.

Bounty
More fruits from the autumn harvest - passionfruit from our garden. Mum didn't get to have any last year as the painters took them all. They are sweet and mum is enjoying them as there will be none left on the vine by next week.
It's a quiet night tonight as mum has to work in the morning and it's frosty tonight. So after Call the Midwife she's off to bed with her book.

Clouds
It's getting darker earlier than ever now as winter approaches. These were the skies as mum turned into our street tonight, a sky if peach shades with a scattering of little grey clouds. Home just in time to switch the lights and heater on.

Gift
Mum came home and when she came home she noticed that the covers on the bed were rather rumpled and not tidy as she had left them in the morning. On closer inspection she saw that I had left a gift for her on the bed cover A rather dead baby mouse - thankfully in one piece. Mum did give me a pat and called me a good girl before the body was disposed off.
Also the zip zag cover is a towel. I love when mum takes it off her hair after the shower and rush to sit on it and have a snooze. In fact mum played a game tonight - Bag or Towel and I could not choose so slept with my top paws on one and bottom paws on the other.

Shy
I don't really like posing for photos. As I've got older I have less tolerance for mum pushing the camera in front of me. She loves me and tries to have some quality time without having the pressure of having to model.

Outsiding
It has been a 3 day long weekend this weekend which has been just lovely. The weather was better than forecast, with three warm and sunny days. The evenings are cooling and mum has the heaters turned on which I am enjoying.
I got to go out in the garden with mum and show her my favorite sunshine spots.

Recuperation
Mum is feeling better today. She went to bed last night with a fever and sore arm but as the day went on today her temperature has almost returned to normal. It is ANZAC day here and mum would have liked to go to dawn parade she would have felt a bit too wobbly to stand outside for an hour.
So she slept in and just pottered about. She cleaned the windows and did the dishes and more washing. She might venture out and about tomorrow. Me well I enjoyed my sleep in and was begging for my dinner at 4pm and back to bed by 4.15pm.

Wiped Out
Well its the day after her 2nd Pfizer vaccination and mum is wiped out. The day was sunny and hot for autumn, so mum filled the washing line with towels and her uniforms. She took herself out for a walk and after 1.5 hours she had to admit defeat and call a taxi to bring her home. She just feels like she has a bad flu but no sneezing or coughs, just achy with a bit of a headache. I'm going to be a good nurse and snuggle up next to her.

Friyay
Yippee Friday is finally here. Mum survived the bus strike and managed a solid 15,000 steps today, so this evening she is planning to sit on the couch and barely move. She also went and got her 2nd Covid vaccination today. It was busy at the clinic as someone fainted after their injection. Mum felt fine but most of her colleagues have felt a bit rough the day after this 2nd injection. Mum plans to have some orange juice and an early night.
Do you like the soft focus photo? Mum has no idea of how to put the special effects on her photos, it all happens when she accidentally presses pushes some button. She should look at the instructions sometime.
We hope you are all excited for the weekend and have something fun planned.

Sunshine
Today was cloudy with spots of rain, so mum was glad that we got to enjoy the windows open and get all of the washing done yesterday. Today mum ventured out only to go to the library, to return some online shopping to the post office and to get some groceries. Mum and I do feel relaxed though.

Red
Mum picked the harvest red tomatoes that were poking through the fence tonight. She popped a couple in with tonights pasta dish and will have some for salad with tomorrow nights dinner. And she found some of their parsley growing through the gaps too.

Caturday Snoozer
I found a cozy spot to take my 10 hour nap until mum gets home. How exciting to get my dinner at 11.30pm and to howl at her for an hour.

Evening
Mum worked late this evening, so she came home and gave me my dinner. I then urgently curled up on the mama bed in heat mum calls the snuggly buggly position. Mum has some shifts coming up and is going to try and focus on the positive things about working late and enjoy the days at home and try and sleep in and spend some time in the sun with me. Once I get my beauty sleep.

Double Feature
Mum still managed to get herself up and ready and had time to visit a couple of shops and the market on the way to the cinema to pick up a roll and an apple. She saw The Father first. A somewhat grim movie about a fathers struggle with memory loss. Olivia Coleman is always a delight, and Anthony Hopkins is just perfect in the title role being so talented at playing the charming and bewildered father whose life is swirling around him. I did manage to nod off several times so its a 3.5/5 from me.
The Courier is a post war based on a true story spy thriller with Benedict Cumberbatch playing an English businessman duped into working with a Soviet spy. Ladies at the cinema were telling us their stories about spending lockdown with Mr Cumberbatch and his family. The movie was interesting, a 4/5 Sunday Night Masterpiece Theater Movie. So mums tired and hopefully she'll get to sleep through the night tonight.

Enjoy
Today was a sunshiney day and we tried to soak up the sunbeams as rainy Autumnal weather has been forecast for the days ahead. Mums day off is tomorrow so she has made herself some plans and booked some tickets. She'll fill you in on Tuesday.
