Mum took this photo of me last week. You can see that my furs is looking nice. This week - not so nice. Mum thinks I must of found a honey jar to smooch up to - now it looks like I has a bad mohawk down by my tail. She tried to chase me to take pictures of it, but I won't let her. It isn't like chewing gum, but just matted together furs that won't come apart.
Does anyone know how to get rid of sticky stuff? Or is mum going to have to chase me with the scissors and give me a nude baldy spot?
Please help friends.
Poppy the sticky Q
I wish I could offer you some advice, but I have never gotten anything sticky in my furs before. Maybe you will need a bath?
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but it sounds like a warm bath would be the first thing to try...
ReplyDeleteYep. We think you need a bath. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteBubble bath time!
ReplyDeleteMommie sez she donna noe iffen it wuld work on yur sticky furs, but weneva Shadow gets inta summin sticky she taks a paper towul an sprays it wit cookin oil/spray an wipes him down firs. Sumtym it wurks an she jus hasta wipes him down agan wit cleen water. Iffen dat don't wurk doh, den it's bath tyme.
ReplyDeleteAh, sounds like you got a version of so called "fat-tail", the glands are overproducing "sticky stuff", happens to the best of kitties (usually the not-neutered male ones).
ReplyDeleteA bath, as they say, and a bit of talcum powder usually does the trick. There's a soap in Sweden that goes by the name "gall tvål" (gall soap) that's said to be great for this. But I don't think you can find it abroad. http://www.galltval.com/
Best of luck!
I would do the bath before the scissors! If it just your tail maybe your mommy can get some kitty shampoo and put it on a washcloth and try that before taking a whole plunge if your not used to it. ~Queen Snickers
ReplyDeleteSounds like mommy needs to get out the electric shaver thingy.
ReplyDeleteOh, Poppy, we certainly hope you're not going to end up embarrassed by a temporary naked area down your back. We know you are a genteel lady and would not like to appear in public photos without all your clothes.
ReplyDeleteWe know your mum will do what is best for you.

I think you might need a :gasp: bath. :(
ReplyDeleteI would try washing it with a soapy washcloth, so you don't have to do a whole bath. Ack. I hope your Mum can get whatever it is out, so she doesn't have to cut your beautiful fur.
ReplyDeletePoppy, you have a great deal of good advice here. As for Social rank, I have no idea what is wrong with us! We're visited a lot, maybe we just haven't "arrived" yet!
ReplyDeleteYour no number pal,
Parker

ReplyDeleteSorry that you are in this predicament. I don't have much to offer except the warm bath idea and my condolences.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, honey huh? Mommy thinks warm water, she says that's the only thing that loosens up her honey that she puts in her tea. Sorry, sounds like bath time!
ReplyDeleteI agree a bath might be the best solution!! Don't worry, they aren't TOO scary!
