See you later in the year

This weekend a big large cloud full of rain has descended on New Zealand, just in time for today - the last official day of summer. Who could believe that last weekend we had temperatures of 33degree C (91.5 degree F )?

Mum and Budley went for a walk and bike ride along the coast in Napier, and were lucky enough to catch the air show the Air Force put on over the harbour.

It was amazing to be just under the planes, with their great aerial displays.

On the way home, a vintage steam engine arrived, with its load of art deco visitors who had been on a day trip.

We will miss you summer, but we know that so many of our friends have shivered through their winter, deep in snow and grey skies. Please go and warm them up, then hurry back to us.

What will I do all weekend? Scratch or sleep?

And yes, my mum has let me scratch my scratching pad up on the bed. Only when the visitors aren't here.

Checking out all them weeds

Mmmmm mum, I think the weeds are taking over again. Whats that about rain forecast all weekend? You have a raincoat don't you?

After lots of rainy days, then a few short sunny periods, the weeds have again taken over the garden. So me and Poppy Popsicle will be out and try to pull some of the green monsters out over Saturday and Sunday. We will let you know how it goes.

Wordless Wednesday

My Furcation

Instead of being able to go away with my mum, I got taken to the cattery - my very own cat hotel. The ladies there are nice, except before you get taken to your room they weight you, check your teefies and inspect your furs. I tell you mum, if that happened to you, you might never go away again!

Then they only feeds you twice a day, checks out that you poops correctly (appartently some of my holiday buddies don't know it belongs in the litter box), watch you to see you get along with the neighbours and then fills in your report card.

My comment says "Poppy was a sweetheart as usual". Awww I love you cat hotel ladies.

Bestest thing was to come home and spend all night tucked up with my mum on our bed.

Where We Went

I got booked into the local kitty hotel, while my mum got to travel to Napier to stay with Bud and Belle. It is Art Deco weekend in the city, with lots on. In 1931 most of the city was destroyed in a large earthquake, and most of the city centre was rebuilt in an Art Deco style. Loads of visitors descend on the city, with their vintage cars and great costumes.

On Friday night, we went uptown to look at all of the cars and costumes.

Furcation

I have to go where? In this rain? What do you mean it is just a little cyclone?
Mum and I are off on furcation for a couple of days, apparently I am not allowed to go with her, and I will be staying at local luxary accomodations.

We will tell you all about it in a couple of days.

We have mentioned the fabulous Kay, an ETSY seller extraordinaire before. She makes these awesome custom made felt sculptures of your furry friends. We think she has the most beautiful eye for detail, and is the best of all the sellers making cats and dogs.

There are lots of woofies on there, and not many pussy cats, but that's ok, cause they are pretty cute.

But not as cute, as the one that looks like me.

Oh someone asked if I was a Russian Blue. Sorry, my breed is a British Shorthair (sometimes called British Blue). My super friend Misha is a Russian Blue cat, and we both lives in New Zealand!!

Mum had a good night, she went to see Billy Connolly, live on stage. She loves Billy, and says her mouth is sore from laughing so much.

Valentines weekend

On Saturday, Valentines day, mum had a busy day. She was on-call for the hospital all weekend, had a hairdressers appointment, met some friends for lunch and went for a walk. Then her brother big uncle, his friend uncle rexie and nephew budly dudley came for a visit. They went to a local restaurant 'The Green Parrot', where the boys had steaks as big as their heads. I don't et steak, so I wasn't jealous.

All and all it was a good valentines day. And because I had been a good kitty, mum have me a scratching pad with catnip as a present. Yippeee - I LOVES IT.

I have been very spoilt this week, and been given four awards by my furriends. I wanted to let you know I will post about them, mum and I have had a busy week, and we will make time at the weekend to thank each and every one of you.

So, in the meantime, keep the paparazzi on their toes, and keep them guessing.

Shock

We are still in shock, about the enormous fires in Victoria, Australia where so many people have been killed. Did you know that the firestaff in Australia, think that many of the fires were started by arsonists?

We have gone to the red cross website :

where we made a small donation, to help out. We wish we could send the rain over that we have been having, as we know that would help.

Did you know that at the top of Australia, they are having too much rain? My good friends Fui and Suey have had 23 solid days of rain, and they are tired of it.

We hear that many of our friends have been having too much snow too!! Boy, we told you the weather gods were confused (they are confused because the Easter eggs and hot cross buns are out in the shops in January).

Anyways, we hope everybuddy is safe, that their friends and family are safe too, and you all have a nice warm dry bed to sleep in.

Today

Today was even hotter than yesterday, but not as hot as it has been in most of Australia. In Victoria, at least 84 people have died in terrible fires. We did get a taste of the heatwave over the past two days, but the clouds are back tonight. We hope they get some rain where they need it in the south, and some sun where they need it in the north (there has been flooding in other areas in Oz).

What to do when you is hot

Very Important Instructions
When the temperature if very hot, you must lie on your back with your arms and legs open wide to let the air circulate. This is best performed, on a cold floor, cold concrete or in a cool bath.

Repeat as necessary.

Oh someone asked what movie mum saw yesterday. She went and saw Slumdog Millionaire, and she enjoyed it lots. Also it was nice to get out of the heat and sit in the movie theatre.

Belle likes to read. Like her mum, aunty and Gdad.

Did mum pull some weeds today? Just a couple.
Did she do the washing? A couple of loads.
Did she tidy up? Just moved some stuff around.
Did she go to the movies? Yup.
Did she finish reading her book? Yup.
Did she sleep in? Yup.
Did she relax? Yup.

Life is good.

How many days?

You have how many days off now mum? Three - wow, I bet we have some adventures. What do you mean the washing machine, weeds, tidying up? The only job I like, is making the bed!!

Fancy

In this fancy shop, in this fancy little town, there was a fancy french bed in the middle of the shop. On top of the fancy quilts, that cost a fancy price, was the lovely meezer cat that comes to work every day with her beans. We hope she gets paid well.

Rawwwwwwwwwwwwww

This is the little cupboard that mum stores all of my foods in. When I is hungry, I says Rawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww at her to let her know I wants jellimeat (fancy feast). Usually I am allowed one for my dinner, and I have biscuits for breakfast and snacks.

Life is good.

New Friend

I think they have had some visitors, but they may have been shy, and I have been the only cat to leave a comment. When I went away

Last time we went away on our holidays, mum made sure I did not escape my PTU. She did this by planting the door end next to the wall, and plonking her holiday bag on top!! Thus, I could not flip the PTU over and push my way out of the door.

Mum was also impressed that her packing was so light, as normally for a three day holiday, her bag is HUGE. She is determined to travel lighter than she has done in the past.
