The mild weather seems to be slipping away from us. One thing blogging has taught us, has been to welcome and to celebrate each season. You see in New Zealand we are lucky and have pretty mild weather, with not too many extremes. Where we live, it doesn't snow but our winters are grey, windy and often wet. After seeing the amount of snow all of our friends have had to endure, we can hardly complain (but you know we will).
So we are going to say loud and proud - Welcome Winter!! We celebrate you by pulling out the sheepskin slippers, putting the merino blanket on the bed and the radiator heater has been plugged back in after a 8 month break.
We also celebrate you in the kitchen, as mum and her family had their first roast dinner with steamed pudding, and mum has bought lots of soup to eat.
To all of our Northern Hemisphere friends, enjoy your warmth and sunbeams and look after them for us and send them back in October.

I don't want winter to come, 'cos then it means I don't get to go outside.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this post, Poppy Q! As it's coming anyways you might aswell welcome Winter with such cool, comfy, rituallike celebrations. I like the tail action too in this pic!

Winter certainly has it's advantages :-) We're very happy that spring is in full bloom here - winter felt much too long. We'll take care of the sunbeams and be sure to send them back to you in time.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great attitude, Poppy. And hey, if worst comes to worst, if it gets really freezing, your mum found those cute hats for kitties. Tee hee:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice words, buddy.
I don't like winter so much, it's not very toasty in my parsley pot then. But good on you for embracing the season Poppy!

We don't like winter cuz we get rain nearly every day. We don't usually get much snow, this winter was unusual. We are glad Spring is here so we can be outdoors all the time. We have even been sleeping in the garden at night. Don't worry though, we will send the warm and sun back to you when you send winter back to us. Just don't send it too soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your winter. Get a nice warm blankie.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, we will take good care of the warm and sunbeam for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to look at things Poppy. We don't go outside, but we like to watch the seasons change too.
ReplyDeleteLoe your perspective but cold, rain, snow nooo thanks glad spring is here.

Celebrating winter is such a good idea. We're really tired of cold weather right now, so it's hard to think about that, but it's the right attitude.
ReplyDeleteWe are glad that Winter left here finally. Staying warm and cuddling a lot help during the Winter.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to cool and we are going to hot and dry. We have already had wildfires here. They came within a mile of our Grandmothers farm. Then yesterday they had 101 degree temperature! ANd it is only April. We will watch out for your sunbeams and send them back, gratefully in October or November!
ReplyDeleteI wishes it was winter here too. The heat here is making me and the Giant Kitty so tired!

We're glad that you are welcoming winter as we're more than happy to send it to you! Our winter was more snow and gray than usual, so we hope that you enjoy it and we look forward to your sunny days.

Enjoy the fuzzy slippers, Poppy!
ReplyDeleteThough it is April here in Canada, in my city it has snowed! So we are having a bit of winter too.
ReplyDeleteBtw, come on over to my blog, I've given you an award! :)
Don't worry, Poppy. We'll take good care of them for you.
ReplyDeleteJust stay warm, dry and healthy.
Hello Poppy Q! You are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great attitude about the seasons. I am very lucky that we don't have a lot of bad weather in the winter, but it can get pretty hot here in the summer.
ReplyDeleteOur winters are mild here too! No snow ever, except occasionally in the hills around Napa Valley. Then it melts in a day or two. We like the rain!
ReplyDeletePoppy, it looks like you have your winter fur on today.
