Bad Blogger - help?!!!!

Grrrr Bad blogger has told me that we have filled our photo file with 1GB of files, and now have to buy some  space of them.  We don't want to pay them a monthly payment.  What have you done?  Have you changed your blog because of this?

So scuse the old photo.  That's me in my old house, in my chubby phase.

  1. This happened to us too. We went back and resized our photos. This freed up space. Several friends here on the CB can help you. Good luck!

  2. Oh dear me I just got the same notice when I tried to make my Thanksgiving day post! This is annoying to say the least...what to do now?

  3. Poppy, somebody else commented on this yesterday and a helpful reader sent them to the following post for help about reducing the photo storage. We checked our Picasa account and found we still have space, but it was very useful to read about how to reduce the photo sizes and what size photos to use initially. Fortunatley we have been using somewhat smaller sized photos, maybe not the smallest we can, but we still have about 1/2 a GB of storage.

  4. I paid the $5. It lasted me almost 5 years so I figured it wasn't too bad. And I just truly didn't want to be bothered with all the time it would take to resize all of my photos. And I have a LOT of photos. :) I figured my time saved was totally worth the $5! But that's just me. :) Of course, if you start a new blog, we'll find you!

    Have a lovely day ladies!

  5. If you can resize your photos, and keep doing so in the future, it will make a LOAD of difference!

  6. I use Blogger.com (blogspot) and have never been asked to purchase anything. I'm cheap so I probably wouldn't have a blog if I had to pay for it. I do keep my photos small in terms of memory (anywhere from 100 to 500 kB), but have never had a problem putting as many or as few as I've liked on the blog. Maybe I don't post often enough to be charged?

  8. Poppy, we were getting near our limit and followed Jan's advice and resized our older photos. We have been using a smaller size for about the last 3 years but are slowly (very slowly) resizing the old ones and freed up more space.

  9. We have never seen this either, but we do not blog as much as you do.

  10. It just happened to us too. Mum paid to get more. However you can continue to re-post pictures you have used before without using more space.

  11. We won't comment about this, Poppy, since everyone has given you solutions.

Our human is under the old Google plan of $5 per year for 20 Gigs (20?), which is necessary because of all her Picasa photo albums. But that offer is no longer available to anyone signing up for plans now. She will pay their new monthly fee when it becomes necessary, though.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there...We came to say we loved your interview on Mousebreath! We thought you had excellent advice about blogging and life balance, and on keeping posts short, which sometimes our own human just can't manage. LOL.

  12. We normally only use small size photos (under 100k each) for the blog. It means they don't biggify but they don't take up much room either.

  13. Hi! We just found you through Mousebreath!
I've heard about this problem, but havent encountered it. I heard that if you shrink the size of older pictures, it helps..
