8.10pm - Thank you for all the kind well wishes for our safety. We are fine just a bit shaken. It is almost 20 hours since last nights big quake. There have been about 400+ aftershocks here in our city since, so many that mum doesn't move for any of them, although there was a large 5.8 tonight which rattled her a bit. It has been a good day to stay home and stay close to the news on the television as much of the city was closed off. Especially now as wet and windy weather has packed in making it a miserable night. Mum has a bag packed with clothes and supplies but does not fancy having to leave the house unless it is a really big shake.
Mum helped one of her friends out who did not have electricity. Mum was able to ring her supplier to log the fault so they can send an engineer out as they were unaware that the street was out. Hopefully they can get it back on for her and her neighbours, as she thinks the whole street is out.
So it will be a restless night again for us. Mum will sleep with her clothes on again, and boots beside her bed, ready to leave if she needs to.
Love Us

Paws crossed that the worst has passed, Poppy!
ReplyDeleteOh my dearest Poppy and Julie...you have been in our every thought since this dreadfulness came upon your beautiful island. Praying that you will be safe and not have to go out into the wet weather. Hope that your shaking will stop...we are so sad to see the pictures of the damage and that there has been loss of life.
ReplyDeleteYou are our precious friends and we care very much about you...much love, Miss Hope and the cozy cottage cats!
Please be safe and look after each other, Elka from the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteWe just got up and had to check in on you and your mum and are glad to see you are still okay. Keeping you in our purrs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteWe are thankful that you and your mum are safe. How frightening these days must be. Stay close to mum, Poppy.
ReplyDeleteWhenever Mom and I hear "New Zealand" in the news, we always thing of you. Glad you are safe and sound.
ReplyDeletesending hugs and purrs,
So frightening. We're glad you're okay right now. Continued purrs, purrayers and Light to you both, and to all there right now. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are both okay! I've only slept in my clothes once during Hurricane Sandy. I slept in my little tv room as my bedroom would have taken a direct hit if the huge oak tree across the street would have blown down (though nothing happened.) Not a good way to try and sleep! Thoughts and purrayers to all in NZ!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are both safe and I hope you were able to get a better sleep last night.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope no one has to go anywhere or do anything other than maybe clean up a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you have had a still and safe night
ReplyDeleteThank God you are both safe. Sounds like your mum has a good plan in place to keep you safe and is ready to implement it if the situation changes.
ReplyDeleteWishes for a calm might and no temblors.
