Fleas

Mum wanted to talk to you all about the dreaded fleas. For about the past 5 months mum had been using Frontline plus to try and get rid of any fleas. But, they still kept coming and coming and even with attacks with the flea comb, they were still there. The vet, although very nice said just to continue with the frontline. Now mum did all the right things, dosed me at the right times, bought it from the vet, checked the expiry date and kept washing and vacuming.

Well two weeks ago, mum got bitten and she could tell I was still miserable. So she went out and bought revolution flea treatment. Although I don't like it being put on, and sulked for a day, mum thinks it less toxic than Frontline. When I had frontline I was miserable for a few days, and mum thinks my furs were dull and flaky (which may have been more due to the fleas).

So around about the time, I got the revolution, I moved back inside. I lost all of my fleas, my furs are more soft and shiny, and mum says I am much much happier and back to being my old self. I want more cuddles and smooches and am much more talkative. I am seeking mum company more, and am happy that I am indoor Poppy and not camping cat.

So if you are looking for flea treatments, mum is very very happy to recommed Revolution and she will never use Frontline Plus ever again. We have looked online too, and at a few forums have found similar concerns from other customers. As frontline, has no email contact details we are unable to contact them with our concerns, but we will be sure to let our vet know.

Love Smoochy Poppy

  1. Thanks for the info. I've got summer fleas too, and Kate's not sure which flea treatment to use around baby Alex. Not that I get near him or his stuff...

Hey, I heard you had a rainy day there today. My mate Ricky Ponting told me. Does he come to your place for tea when he's in Wellington?

  5. we have talked about the revolution several times on our blog. we were infested a few months back to the point mom was getting eaten alive as bad as we were. she got us completely flea-free in 3 months. that and the Capstar, a pill that kills as many fleas as it can in 24 hours, works wonders especially when used together. fleas are evil, and honestly poppy you're probably allergic to them like I am. mom also said some vets are noticing that the frontline is especially ineffective this year. the reason the revolution is so good though is because it smells like rubbing alcohol, which fleas hate! our mommy is the flea-killing expert now lol.

  11. Hooray! That is wonderful news, Poppy. Our mum alternates between Revolution and Advocate. Apparently, fleas can become resistant to a particular product. Maybe that is what happened with the Frontline? They are such horrible little monsters.

  12. We agree - fleas are the EBIL! Mom is getting ready to get our flea meds again; she usually uses Advantage but said she'll check out the Revolution instead. We're glad you got yours under control, Poppy.
