Thursdaying

Mum put some bread out for the birds this morning so I had to come and sit outside and watch.  She has been optimistic and getting some washing out on the line.  The fridge has been cleaned, dishes are soaking and she just has to vacuum the carpet and then she will sit and watch something on the box before she has to think about heading to work.

Over It

Mum and I are over the drizzly cool weather.  Summer starts in the next couple of weeks and we have the heater on tonight.  I don't want to go outside as the garden is damp and cold.  Mum is trying to make the most of it, reading and relaxing.

She is back on the afternoon shifts for the rest if the week.  She has made chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight and a couple if dinners to take to work.  she has planned a shopping list and a chore list do that she gets a couple if things done with the mornings she has at home.

Time to put the electric blanket and snuggle up on the bed with mum.  Night night.

Cute

Mum caught this cute neighbor napping on the doorstep of her cottage.  of course, by the time mum got her phone out she was awake and ready to pose.

Lovely

When mum got home last night there was a lovely gift waiting for her.  Her friends had got her some flowers to brighten up her place.

There was a bit if cat hissing this afternoon and this time it was me.  Naughty cat snuck in and  had cornered him under the couch.  Mum came out and growled at him and chased him out.

View

Maybe it is not the best view in the world, but you can see I did not get a full Brazilian for the summer, just a slight trim.  Anyway I was giving mum a happy greeting cause she came home.  She rushed around all day.  She did washing this morning and vacuumed the carpets and then went and met a bestie for a walk and then some nibbles.

The real reason I was pleased to see mum - I needed my bag back on the bed!!!

Oh and mums middle aged lady moment.  She woke up at 3am as she heard a big cat fight outside.  she got up to look out the window, and put a dressing gown on and went out into the backyard.  She heard the cats do a final hiss.  She stood outside for 5 minutes and came back to bed.  Then she realized that I was in the bedroom - it wasn't me fighting.  I was snoozing!!!🐈

Helper

I have been helping mum do a few of the chores tonight, so that she can go and enjoy her weekend.  I like to keep an eye on what she is up to.

Thankful Thursday

Lucky me - I got to go to the vet yesterday to get my summer bikini butt trim.  We got a new vet who was lovely; but mum was honest.  She said now I am a senior citizen there will be no more diets, no $60 diet/teeth/joint biscuits that I never eat and no stressful tests or surgery unless necessary.  I growled a little at mum as she held me so the vet could do her checks.  I got a good bill of health except for my arthritic knees, my slightly problematic teeth and my 6.3kg weight.

Mum bought me home and I ate all of my feast and then snuggled up with mum when we went to bed.  Best if all no vet bill!!! Mum pays $30 a month for a pet insurance.  it pays for my vet checks twice a year, a blood test and some surgeries. Last years dental surgery was free because of the policy.

So we are thankful this Thursday for the good vet visit and no big Bill's and a snuggle on the bed.

We hope that if you are celebrating Thanksgiving that you have a lovely time with friends and family.

Day Off 2

Mum got to have today off as well.  It rained all morning so she didn't get out of the house until 1pm for a quick dash to the shop pretending to be a post office.  She misses the post offices which all seem to have been shut down in the past year.  Standing in a smelly and busy grocery mart is not the same; and she feels sorry for the post shop workers whose jobs have almost disappeared.  Her nana worked at the local post office when she was a little girl.

As she came home the clouds cleared and mum put the towels out and we both sat outside to enjoy a little sun.

Day Off

Mum was pleased to wake up knowing it was her day off.  The weather has gone back into winter mode, 2 weeks before summer is due to start.  This was the afternoon's skies with a threat of rain all day.  We did miss showers during the day but it is just starting now at 8pm.  There is heavy snow in the lower South Island, so the heaters are on and mum will put the heavy blanket back on the bed tonight.

It was one of mums best friends birthdays at the weekend so mum took her and her mother out to a tasty lunch.  Then the friends went to visit the garden centre - good shopping for middle aged ladies.

Mum got a few more items at the shops, and her groceries and was still home by 3pm.  She sat down and watched a movie and made chicken salad wraps for dinner.  A bit of Antiques Roadshow and then mum is keen for her bed.

I have spent quite a bit of the day in my little bed enjoying the heat pad on my old achy body.

I Tried

I tried to look all cute and fluffy so mum didn't have to go to work this afternoon.  She mumbled something about having to pay bills and then gave me a kiss and said she would be home soon.

Caturday

Mum is working afternoon shift again so I am home alone waiting until 11.30pm and she is home ready for my dinner.  Time for a long snooze to keep me busy - in the ugly bag of course.

Evening

Mum is glad that we have made it through to Thursday.  She made a big pasta dish for dinner so there are a lot of leftovers.  She is on shift the next couple of nights and needs to take her dinner and snacks.

We have had a week of sunny hot weather which has been lovely.  The weather forecast ahead is the return of more rain which will be great for the gardens, so mum will rush to get the washing done tomorrow.  It has been lovely to have the windows open every evening  and fresh air blowing in.  Mum even got the birkenstocks out - so summer must be close.

Naps

Sometimes I sneak a quick nap away from the bag, but most days and nights I am still in the crinkly ugly thing (mums description not mine - I love it!!).

Mondaying

Mum wonders why it is always difficult to go to sleep on a Sunday night?  She only got to sleep around midnight, had to wake up to go to the bathroom a couple of hours later, and then woke up at 4.30am when she was cold, and then the alarm blasted at 5am.  So mum dragged herself up and got off to work.

She was lucky and got finished by 3pm, and got some groceries and headed home.  She could have nodded off by 5pm, but resisted so she could sleep better tonight.  Dinner for me was a feast and mum made a fancy quinoa/rice with salad and Mexican chicken and sour cream.  Delicious she said.  She has also made egg sandwiches for tomorrows lunch, with some grapes and strawberries for snacks.  Uniforms and underwear are all selected and ready for wearing tomorrow morning, plus mums workbag is sorted.

She also feels productive for sorting out the recycling bag of rubbish, got the dishes done and rung two good friends for a catch up.  She has read some pages of her book, and tidied up a bit of the living room.  So now she has her fingers crossed that she will drift off to sleep straight away.  Me - well I'm in my bag asleep already.

Armistice Day

Today marks 100 years since the end if the first World War.  it was a bright sunny day and we think of all those families who were grieving the loss if their sons, brothers and husbands and the families who were relieved to get their young ones home.  Did they stand below similar skies?
Today was a quiet one at the house of Q.  Mum got up early to eat leftover Thai food while she watched the All Blacks play England.  She did some chores and pottered around the house.  Peaceful - as it should be.

Caturday Highlights

The highlights of Caturday for me were rolling round on the grass in the sun.  After a stormy week we were glad to see the sun.

Mum enjoyed watching me in the grass, getting clothes and bedding washed and dry and Thai takeaways for dinner.

Living the good life.

Hiding

Today has been rainy and stormy,so mum was glad to get home into her sweats and just chill out.

Last night was really windy and mum couldn't find me on my bag, I wasn't on my little bed or on mums bed.  She called out and no reply.  She went outside in not many clothes and called out in the backyard.  It was so windy that she thought I wouldn't be able to hear her.  She put her dressing gown on and went up onto the street and called out, but no reply.

So she climbed into bed.  Guess who she found sleeping  quietly on the floor beside the bed - me!!!

Beautiful Suki

This is the beautiful Suki Cat who travels the world with her mum, but is from Canada.  Her pictures are just amazing and all so wonderfully bright and almost surreal.  Mum also wonders how she gets Suki to pose so well - she must be a very patient lady.

Mum is loving so many instagram sites.  She knows that blogging might be old fashioned now, but mum won't change over yet.  We will stick with it for a while - we're not going anywhere.

Home

Mum - you made it home.  I missed you.
Mum survived work although , she had to come off and have some butter chicken and rice and veg for dinner.  Now she is having a couple of mint slice biscuits while watching Australian Ninja Warriors.  Wow those people are amazing.  We just watched a woman complete the course in ease.  It makes mum feel very lazy and very old.

Eve

Well staycation is drawing to a close and mum had to return to work tomorrow which she is not looking forward to.  it is alright once the first day is over as that is the hardest.  Mum had got her uniform out with even underwear selected and ready.  she is finishing the dishes and then will get tomorrow's lunch made.  Dinner will be leftovers from tonight's tea.

Most of all mum will miss my company and I will be glad when she gets home.

Caturday

Mum took pictures of the pretty blossoms during the week.  it is rather breezy and grey outside and we wonder if all the blossoms have been shaken off the trees.  We've stayed inside all today .

Spring weather has seemed to have had the same pattern the past few years.  A couple of beautiful blue skies and warm days at the beginning of spring.  Then weeks of unsettled colder and raining  weeks.  Still we are lucky here as the weather stops people letting off fireworks ( they are sold before the 5th of November for Guy Fawkes).

So most if my days and nights are spent inside sleeping and talking to mum.

Chilling

We've been chilling today.  Mum got my favorite quilt washed which was good as last time it almost flooded the washing machine and bathroom.  No such dramas today, and there was some sunshine and breeze so it got dry as well which was good.  Mum read her book and relaxed.  She is trying to fight off some germs, she is over having a never ending cold and cough.   The vitamins and lots or rest and relaxing seem to be making her feel a bit better tonight.

Staycation is going well, and mum wishes she could afford to be retired and not work at all.  It seems though that she can't afford that, so work is beckoning on Monday.

Happy November

Happy November friends.  I'm still living in the bag.  mum tried to take it away a couple of days ago but I got too upset, so she put it back for me because I have her well trained.

She was busy pottering round yesterday and forgot to do a Wordless Wednesday post - oh well!!!

It has turned kind if chilly here - only about 8deg C, so heaters have been back on and mum has pulled some thick sweatshirts out to wear with her Ugg boots.  Luckily she left the flannel sheets on the bed.

We hope you are all relaxing - the weekend is nearly here.
