New Years Eve

We rested today, and mum is feeling better already.   It was sunny but coolish, but mum still had her shorts and sandals on and got some sun in the afternoon with a bit of gardening and then she sat and read a magazine,  before it got to cool.  So a quiet end to 2022.

Mum finished her 7 day stretch of work today, and is looking forward to days off.  After days of hot sunny weather,  it was windy and spitting rain after work and she regretted not bringing a sweater.   Still she was so happy to finish work she didn't care, and picked up library books and groceries on the way home.

I was waiting for my feast, and mum cooked up some fluffy rice and thai chicken curry for her dinner and then relaxed for the evening.   She has had a slight cough, but after testing doesn't think she has Covid, but needs to get a good nights rest tonight.  Yippee for days off.

Summer evening night patrol - 11pm.

Wednesday, December 28, 2022

Trying to stay out of the sun as its been a bit hot here.  Mum was glad to work a day shift, come home and put her sandals, shorts and tshirt on and sit in the sun snd read her book.  Lovely.

In the evenings I like to sit outside by the recycling bin and look at our garden, watching for intuders and birds.  Not much action, but a peaceful time to enjoy the fresh air, and neighborhood smells.

Mum has finished her evening shifts for the holidays and now just has a few day shifts to complete.  It has clouded over and cooled down tonight, and mum said she is looking forward to a cooler sleep tonight.

Boxing Day

It has been a glorious day here, perfect blue skies and hot, a pity mum missed most of it at work.  At 10.38pm it is still warm enough to have windows and doors open wide, and safe enough even though mum and I are home alone.

Mum is in need of shutting the house up soon and heading to bed, as she is tired after working and ready to snooze with me.  Perfect .

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of our friends.  We hope you get to feast and relax with the ones you love, or just each other.  Love from the mumster and me xxxx

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve here and Santa's hitching up his sleigh.    Mum and I are ready to see who has been naughty or nice?

Friday, December 23, 2022

Today was another restful day with a big sleep in.  The mumster is about to start 8 days work until her next little break.  She went to town today and it was feeling crazy, she is glad she can avoid it tomorrow.   She seems to have spent a kings ransom at the supermarket lately, and we have plenty of chippies and chocolate in the cupboards - and a shelf full of fancy feast too.

We hope your persons have some time off over the holidays and lots of treats too.

Thursday, December 22, 2022

The sun peaked out this afternoon and mum was pleased that she took a chance on washing her clothes and towels.  It was a relaxing day off for mum, and she was glad to potter about.   She admired the passionfruit which are growing bigger by the day.  It will be quite the harvest in a couple of months.

Tuesday, December 20, 2022

The clouds were coming in thick this afternoon on the way home from work this evening for mum.  She was glad to get home to me.  First job is a bathroom stop for her, then my fancy feast.  Mum made chicken thai green curry with rice for her dinner, then watched some shows.  It's an early night now, mums got an early start tomorrow.

Monday, December 19, 2022

After days of rain and drizzle we had a touch of afternoon sunshine.  Mum walked home up the hill with some Christmas groceries and she wondered how she could spend $90 and only have enough ingredients for one meal?

She got home and fed me my feast then opened the windows, and washed some clothes which only got half dry in the summer afternoon breeze.  The rain is set to return tomorrow until Saturday with maybe sunshine on Christmas day.  Not a day she planned on doing chores, but the washing will be piling up by then, and it may dry while she is working.

I am sleeping a lot now.  Dinner was at 4pm, and i have only got up once for a 10 minute wander and have missed the evening.

Rain, sleep in, breakfast, napping, book reading, rain, lunch, hoovering, naps, toast, lunch, rain, candles, tv shows, naps, reading, fancy feast  naps, rain, heated cat bed, zzzzz.

Friday, December 16, 2022

Its Friday night and mum gave in and put the birdie quilt back on the bed the way I like it.  It's almost midnight and our doors and windows are open to let the breeze in.  This is the first weekend mum has finished by 5pm in a few weeks and has some time to relax.  She stocked up on feast for me and a subway sandwich for her dinner.

After 4 nights with only about 4 hours sleep mum is ready for a good nights rest.  I'll show her how to do it.

Thursday, December 15, 2022

After three summer hot days the rain came down overnight, and it has rained all day today cooling us down.  Finally mum will be able to sleep tonight,  although it is likely to remain 21 deg C overnight.  Mum gave in and has ordered a fan.  She would love a fancy Dyson, but checked out the prices at the stores yesterday and at $750 they are out of our budget.  So a kmart $79 option will be fine,  especially when mum is on nightshift and has to sleep during the day.  In reality we only have about 8 weeks of hot weather in the year.

Watching the news it looks so cold in the northern hemisphere.   We hope all of our friends are keeping warm and cozy.

Tuesday, December 13, 2022

Phew it is hot here today.  Mums in shorts and sandals with the doors open at 11.30pm, as it is still 21 deg C, but cooled down lots from the day.  Alfredo chicken pasta dinner not cooked until after 8pm for mum, and we could smell the neighbors steaks being cooked late too.

I sleep mainly in the spare bedroom which is dark and cool avoiding mum most of the day.

Monday, December 12, 2022

The news tells us that things are cooling down in the northern hemisphere,  with lots of snow creeping in.  Here in NZ, we're inching into summer with the hottest day of the year forecast tomorrow.  So enjoy our sunny pictures from this afternoon.

Mum was lazy and tired today after her busy weekend,  so she is making a list of jobs for tomorrow.   Me - well I enjoyed a bit of sun, but lots of sleeping.

Mums shifts are over for the weekend and she's not back at work until Thursday- yippee!!

Saturday Nite

Mum had 2x party invitations that she had to decline as she had to work on Saturday night.  Home by 11.30pm though with a diet pepsi and salt & vinegar chips on the couch for mum.  Tender turkey for me. Mums watching The Leisure Seeker  - Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren, 2 seniors on the run in their RV.

Waiting for mum to get home.  Her shift has run late and I'm hungry.  Midnight feasting it will be tonight.

Thursday, December 8, 2022

Mum got a letter and I helped her read it.  They want her on jury duty in January for 2 weeks.  Her boss though has written a letter as she is needed at work.  The only problem is if you say you can't do it when they want you have to nominate a whole month to be available.   Mum is trying to decide June, July or August.  We'll see what happens.

The protest continues.   I'm sure mum will buckle and flip the cover back to the way I like it.

Silent Protest

Mums day off today felt both lazy and busy.  A sleep in, washing done and on the line, the bed stripped and some tidying done before mum headed out.  The sun was out, and with podcasts to listen to, mum walked to the main post office to pick up a parcel.  Of course it is not called a post office now and is heavily disguised in a huge building with rubbish signage.  What a pain!!

Mum got groceries and then came home to talk to me and then sit in the sun and read, before cooking a roast chicken + veg for her dinner.  Once she tackled the bed, she felt like a summery change with new pillowcases on and flicked the bed cover upside down.  I'm not sure that i am happy with that decision.   I've plonked myself on the part I like, and I'm not moving mum!!!

Sunday, December 4, 2022

Today mum was somewhat tired as she finished work at 11pm last night and had to be up at 7.30am.  Every year her and her besties head off to a local cafe to chat, and then go to the craft fair.  This year there were lots of soap and spices available and yes mum bought some soap, honey and new undies.

The cloudy morning cleared to a beautiful afternoon,  so mum did the washing and then sat in the sun to read her book, greatful for a cooling breeze.  I was happy having a nap and started adking for my dinner at 3pm.  Best of all mum has tomorrow off to spend with me.

Thanks for saying nice things to me and my mum.  We'd send you all a big bunch of flowers if we could.

Friday, December 2, 2022

Hi peeps, I'm not going to sugar coat it - it's been a tough week for me. I started off with getting chased by a dog, giving me a huge fright.  Sunday I was sick and a big vomit, but felt better once it passsed.   On Tuesday I didn't really move from my bed, I felt a bit rough.  I took to my bed and stayed there not wanting to talk to mum.  I've felt better the past few days, and been talking to mum againand wanting pats, and I ate a big dinner last night.

Mum has noticed the return of the phantom pooher again.  Luckily they are little and she finds them in the shower, so they are easy to clean up.

As you may know I have renal disease and am a grand 16 years old, so mum is being gentle with me and giving me lots of love.  I've got lots of warm spots to snuggle up in and am enjoying the spring sunshine.

Thursday, December 1, 2022

Mum walked home and decided to tackle the short end of the street.  It is very STEEP, the 6th steepest st in our city of hills.  In 4 years here she has avoided this end.  She walks down it most days, and now she knows she can handle the walk up.  When she arrived on the flat part of the street she was greeted by naughty neighbor  who seemed very pleased to see my mum.
