Mum aired out the bed this morning. I live the feel of a flannelette sheet - nice and cosy. As mum is working this weekend her only other goals are to get the washing done, cook something nice to take to work for dinner and finish watching 'This Is Us'. Lofty goals.
Mum is still a bit under the weather. She has the post viral cough that goes on forever and had a couple of coughing fits today. So it has been soup and bread for supper, with some grapes and now an early night. She has a couple of evening shifts over the weekend, so she might post a couple of these cute movies she found, as time will be short and she is going to try and relax and sleep in when she is not at work.
When mum got home after work guess who was inside? Yes naughty cat was in the living room!!! I was hiding in the bedroom. She went to tell naughty cat off, but realized that he had got trapped. You see when we got the cat door installed, after a couple of weeks the door has got stuck and won't swing properly. Mum has got friends to try and look at it, but no one has a solution. We don't want to get a new one, as we only rent this house and won't be here forever. So mum has been using the old duct tape to keep it open. We know that this means naughty neighbors might try and sneak in, but she wants me to have access any time I need it.
Naughty cat though was very polite and made a little meow that mum thinks said 'could you let me out now please'. So mum let him out through the door and got me me feast. I have needed a big BIG nap, cos mum thinks I must have been on guard duty all day.
Mum is spending this evening getting the door taped up again.
Mum got home from work yesterday feeling a bit rough. She tried going to bed early but had a sore throat and was up coughing all night. She was no better today, so stayed home sick. She thought her flu had gone and is annoyed to still being under the weather. She is still taking vitamins every day, vitamin c, resting and trying to sleep but she is ruining my sleeps!!
Sorry our posts are all so boring at the moment but life is pretty quiet for us at the moment. Mum Sat outside with me this afternoon to get some fresh air which was nice.
Oh and she forgot to say that this morning when she walked into the lounge naughty neighbour cat was curled up in my spare cat bet snoozing!!! Don't worry mum chased him off!!!
It is another Monday here at the house of Q. It is raining and cold, and the forecast is the same all week. Mum got groceries and got home. I gave her a telling off because I was cold, and mum put the heater on for me. We are tired of winter - mum is over it and ready for warm evenings and putting her sandals on.
Mum went out today , it sure was chilly. Just when she was smug enough to think spring was arriving we got a cool blast from the Antarctic . She stocked up on candles from her favourite shop. So she was glad to get home tonight, pull the curtains, put the heaters on and light a new candle.
Now she is ready for bed. She is going to check out a couple of recipes and make a list for what vegetables she needs at the market tomorrow.
We hope you have all had a nice Caturday and done something fun.
Thank you to our lovely friend Leanne and her family for a wonderful parcel full of gifts. There was a beautiful card, some books for mum and some chocolates for her and some superior fishy treats for me.
it sure felt like Christmas here getting so many treats. I was very interested in sniffing everything and look forward to my party mix at treat time tonight.
Mum got out of the house today and went to the library and got some groceries. Most importantly some temptations!! Last night we runned out. She tried to give me some fishy flakes treats - nuh huh. She tried to pass off some biscuits as treats - nuh huh. Then she let me put my face in the nearly empty butter container - sort of ok.
I am much happier tonight. I have a routine. I like dinner early. Anytime between 3pm-6pm suits me. I then like a snooze. I come out for snacks at 08.30pm. I snooze again but come out and visit mum after 10pm to tell mum to come to bed.
So after last nights post about the lost tickets mum got a text from her friend this morning to say that the tickets arrived - by post four days after getting picked up!! Mum paid for a courier. The whole distance for them to go was 12.5km - it took them from Tuesday morning to Friday morning to get it that distance. Mum will be writing them a little note she thinks.
Mum is feeling a bit better today. She got up for a few more hours and actually cooked some vegetables for her dinner and hoovered the floors and did a few chores. She got some great sleep last night which made her feel much better too. I am exhausted today - so we had some good sleeps together.
Mum had been very excited to see some posters up weeks ago saying that Suzanne Vega would be playing just for night in our town. So mum quickly looked online and bought 2 of the last 10 tickets available. She asked a friend to go with her as it had been her birthday, and mum thought it would be a nice night out.
Unfortunately mum realized on Monday that she would be too poorly for the weds night concert, and would not like to ruin anybody elses time by coughing or making them sick. Mum contacted her friend and said that she would courier the tickets to her, and she could invite someone to join her in mums place. Mum booked the courier for Tuesday, but said that she may be out (she might be passed out due to being so sick or at her afternoons drs appointment), so mentioned that she would put the tickets in a plastic bag on the doorknob (we live at the back of a property off the street).
Mum did indeed have a deep morning nap, and went she went to head out to the drs appointment noticed that the parcel was gone. Mum contacted her friend and said the tickets were on their way. The next day though mums friends said the tickets hadn't arrived and when the couriers were rung they said they hadn't been picked up. Mum went out and searched our back yard in case they had been blown away, or fallen down, but they were nowhere to be found.
So - mum came up with plan C and rang the ticket company and explained that the tickets had been lost, they were helpful and said that mum could just get new ones at the box office with her ID prior to the concert. Mum did have to explain that she was too sick to go down there, and hats off to them for customer service, they were happy to email them to mum, so she could forward them to her friend to print out.
Mums friend got to go to the concert and sent a thank you today to say how awesome she was which was good - if mum couldn't go at least a couple of friends got to enjoy it.
The bonus was that mum got to stay home with me. She is feeling a bit better today, although her cough is still horrid and the larygitis is still with her, at least she can swallow a bit more without pain, and hopes to get some sleep tonight after a week of restless sleeping.
I gave my mum a talking to this morning, and told her she was keeping me wide awakes with all the coughing and stuff, and made sure that she had a doctors appointment. Mum rang as soon as they were open, and got an afternoon appointment. No antibiotics, but a puffer and some other pills recommended and a note to give her a week off work and told to go back to bed with more fluids.
So she stocked up on tissues and vitamins, and books and fruit and grapes and she is switching off the alarm clock and is going to try to get some sleep tonight.
I am well trained in the art of sleep. Mum got none last night as her throat was too sore. Pain relief and other meds, vitamin C, soup and lots of water are helping a bit and mum is hoping for snoozes tonight.
I am continuing my nursing duties today. I have stopped and stared at mum and told her t go back to bed when she needs too. I am also good at keeping her spot warm on the bed. Better increase my pay mum.
I have got the bed ready for you mum. Sick again with the germs, mum needs me to be nurse poppy for the weekend. You can sleep in the bed or sleep on my shopping bag - whatever you fancy.
Mum missed 3 movies today so she could keep her germs to herself, although she dosed up on cold meds so that she could go and see McQueen with a bestie. She enjoyed it , then came home to have some soup, some Lemsip and then off to bed.
Mum and I are thankful for a few things; that mum has a staycation, that the film festival is on, that we had a couple of sunny days at the beginning of the week, that it was payday today, that mum is sleeping ok.
She is annoyed though to have a niggling cough start today. So off to bed early tonight to try and combat the germs.
Me - well I love my mum, sleeping, my feast and temptations. And all my friends. xxx.
