Icy
The temperatures have dropped today and it is icy cold, nearly freezing. Mum feels old, as so many of her work colleagues seemed surprised that it was going to be a rainy cold afternoon as the weather turned southerly. It seems that no one checks the weather forecasts at all, even though they are constantly on their phones all day. At least half have fitbits or apple watches, all with weather apps on them. The morning skies were also bright pink, a warning in itself.
Mum had taken her jacket and umbrella in her bag, but it was too windy for an umbrella in our town today, but she still got soaked. So she now has a woolly jumper on and her sheepskin uggs. Both heaters are on and she's off to bed to read. She is reading The French Agent by Belinda Alexandra and enjoying it.

She got groceries on the way home and then us girls napped for an hour. Dinner was made and then the evening was spent relaxing. Time now for some strawberries and then mum will read before bed.

Caturday
Mum had a lovely day. Up early, 2 loads of washing done and on the line, vrunch with z bestie, wander round a shopping center, walk round town, market visit, pretty proteas, afternoon nap, snuggles with me and movie night in the couch. Now if only the young person festival in town would finish, we can hear the music from our house.

30 Seconds
Within 30 seconds of mum getting up and putting on her dressing gown I have claimed the prized sleeping spot, before she had even managed to make the bed. All ready for my 10 hour nap. See you after work mum!

Greetings
Even though mum was running a little late on her way to work, she still stopped to say hello to naughty neighbor who was looking very regal on his throne.

2 Alarms
Mum put two alarms on this morning to make sure she woke up on time for work, and woke up before either of them went off.

Out
Mum didn't sleep well last night, her night shift brain kicked in and kept her awake until 3am. Then she managed to miss her alarm and awoke at 8.40 am. She got up and realized that she felt sick, so had to ring in and cancel an appointment.
I helped her feel better and by 1pm she felt safe to venture out to the supermarket to buy some supplies. Now she hopes I can help her sleep better tonight. She has 2 alarms set for the morning.

Harvest
Our passionfruit have ripened and are busy falling off the vines at a rapid rate. Mum has been giving them to friends and is eating a couple each day while the bounty lasts.

Beautiful
It was s beautiful Saturday morning snd mum met a bestie for brunch. They had a lovely chat, but the food was terrible. Mum had eggs on toast done Reuban style, which had super tough bread, and weird Pastrami whuch was rubbery. Mum continued her walking and did a bit of shopping while enjoying the busy afternoon in town.
Home by the afternoon mum was glad to come home and relax with me. She's tired tonight, which is awesome with sleeo returning to a normal routine sooner than normal.

Happy St Patricks Day
Happy St Patricks day to you all. Thank you for the loving wishes after yesterdays post when I was not well. I feel better today, and have asked mum for drinks and treats. Best of all, mum finished her night shifts this morning and has the weekend with me. She gave in this morning and let me sleep in her spot, and she took the empty half of the bed. We stayed that way for hours, a new miracle.
So now mum has plans and fingers and paws crossed, she can return to a normalish routine.

Tuesday
Is it Tuesday? Nightshifts screw with mums day recall. The good thing is she thinks there are just 3 nights in this stretch. I'll be glad her back home all night. Tomorrow is meant go be sunny, so she is planning to do washing in the morning and a library visit in the afternoon. Small goals.

Brisk
After a warm summery weekend, the forecast rain arrived on Monday morning. Mum woke around 1pm and it was just 12 deg C outside. The builders had set up camp next door noisily replacing apartment windows, so mums sleep was over. From our bedroom window it looked nice outside and she thought about a walk, but pulled back the curtains to see it was just a break in the clouds and the next lot of rain began.
So mum retreated to the couch, and spent the afternoon watching the Oscars. Maybe a walk tomorrow.

Fresh Air
Mum hurtled the windows open to let the breeze in this afternoon. The days have been lovely lately, the late summer early autumn surge.

Caturday
Mums night was steady and she managed a little nap at 5.30am. She then handed over at 7am, and was able to wander the aisles of the supermarket which is quiet and well stocked . Home for breakfast and then she managed a solid 5 hour sleep. I was very miffed at being displaced from her bed.
Mum made the most of the afternoon by a seaside walk. Fresh air, sea and seagulls helped mums mental health and she was glad that she got out and about.
She came home, nachos for dinner, and relaxing before work starts again.

Friday Night
The light was right tonight, so mum got a few photos of me. She's getting ready for being on call. She's even got the washing out on the line so it can dry tomorrow. Time to fix her hair and face, and get some snacks ready.

Sleeper
Mum barely got covers pulled up and I dived onto my favorite sleepy spot. She's a bit worried as she is starting nightshift tomorrow night and we will have to share the bed during the day. Good luck mum.

Parcel 2
Look at all the goodies!! More of my favorite treats and lots of feast. The national petstore had cans at 24 for $28, and free delivery uf you spend over $75. So it was a good deal and delivered to our door, which saves mum having to carry the cans home and now we are stocked up until winter.

Day Off
Mum took advantage of the morning sunshine to do some washing, tidy a few things and sit in the garden. Her peace was disturbed by builders next doir who are replacing windows and doors in the flats next to us. A young group, they are fast and polite.
Once the chores were done, mum went in search of treats for me, a new pile of library books and groceries. After the cyclone shelves are a little empty and of course prices have risen again. Mum though shopped a few specials, and now shops at several supermarkets to find more bargains.
So it was nice to have the afternoon together. A wee nap and an evening pottering about. Perfect.

Saturday
Another Saturday and mum is working. It's raining outside, so I'm snoozing, waiting for her to come home.

Afternooning
I was puckerooed this afternoon. Mum took me on a stealth VET visit this morning. I was fast adlerp and next thing I knew I was in my carrier and we were off in the Uber. I got poked at both ends, same weight and i got a big shave. At 16 my furs have been getting a bit knotty and I don't like mum to brush my legs.
So door to door was a quick 40 minutes. I came home and meowed at mum, took a big poop in the shower and then went for a big sleep. AWESOME!!

Stripped
Mum stripped the bed and I spent the day snoozing on the mattress cover, and was somewhat annoyed when she wanted to put the sheets and covers back on the bed.

Summer Clicking
Mum was lying on her bed reading last night, when she heard a loud clicking. A large cicada was making itself comfortable on her headboard. She managed to coax it out and put it out the window. Thank goodness, as there would have been a restless night for her. Me - I was snoozing in the spare room.

The sun is shifting slightly as the summer is easing. Our garden is still pretty green after all the rain. We're waiting for the mower man to come, paws crossed for tomorrow.

Clean Up
After the cyclone on Tuesday, one of the hardest hit regions is the Hawkes Bay an area that mum grew up in. Large parts of it were hugely flooded, with the water rising up to peoples ceilings quickly. People had to escape onto the roof and wait to be rescued and many people lost everything. Around the country there have been 9 deaths, and we hope not too many more.
Mums family and friends are safe, but cut off in Napier as most bridges were destroyed. Power stations were blown out and petrol supplies can't get through. The navy have come to help bringing supplies and generators to town. We are lucky though, compared to the losses in Turkiye and Syria we know how lucky we are. So many stories of Kiwis helping each other out.
