Happy New Years Eve

I intend to be snoozing as the clock strikes midnight and we say goodbye to 2020 - the strangest of years.  Mum had a long day at work.  She went to bed last night, and was not long asleep when we were both awakened by a jolt of an earthquake.   Then the alarm went off at 5am mum did not feel rested and had an upset tummy for most of the day.   She managed work ok, but was glad to get home.  She felt better with a cold drink sitting in the sun reading her book.

So it has been a quiet night for us both.  The neighborhood is quiet which is nice with no loud parties close by.  All the young people have headed off to the beaches and festivals.   There should be some noise from the fireworks in the city, but they never last too long.  Mum expects to be snoozing a few minutes past midnight too.

Pigeon Patrol

This morning mum noticed a group of 5 pigeons searching for food on side of the street at 7.30am.   On her way home at 5pm, it appeared to be the same group down the other end of the street still hoovering up any crumbs.  What busy birds 🐦.

Beauty

Mum takes a lot of shots of me and occasionally I give her that one photo thats a keeper.  After all of these years you think I would be used to the camera, but I'm not.

Grim

The weather has been grim for mums days off with rain and we have had the heater on.  It's summer people and it feels like winter.  So we are going to remember the  sunny  days and hope they return soon.

Boxing Day

Last nights sky was pretty, but bought a southerly our way and we woke up to heavy rain and cold.  Sitting here tonight it is 10 deg C and we have the heaters on.  Mum has got to spend the day with her niece and nephew which she has  loved - me not so much.  I've hidden in the bedroom all day and under the covers for much of the afternoon .

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤  to all of my lovely friends.  We hope you all get to have some tasty food and nice drinks.  I'm looking forward to some extra treats tonight for being such a good girl and mum is looking forward to having her feet up.

Christmas Eveing

Happy Christmas Eve to you all.  Our cupboards and fridge is full and mum is ready for some days off.  People were Armageddon shopping at the supermarket and mum came home and forgot to buy only one thing on her list -  lettuce.  It's a bit too cold for salads here anyway.  She might make a potato salad instead of a green one.  She is sure that there will be plenty of food and treats tomorrow.

Twinkling

Mum has all the twinkling lights going and she enjoys the glow.  We are all in need of some pretty lights and decorations this year.  She hasn't gone crazy with the decorations this year.

Greetings

Mum met these two kitties on her way home.   The little ginger  cat was very sweet and mum could not get a better photo as she was busy trying to rub up against mums legs and get some smooches.

Meadow

Mum took a few photos  yesterday.   This one makes the back yard look like a meadow.

Caturday

Mum forgot  to post yesterday.   She went to work and then went to the work party.  Her tummy got a bit upset when she got home and fell asleep on the couch.  She got a big sleep and woke up to sunshine today so did loads of washing and helped me in the garden.

Then mum went for a walk and looked in a few shops.  It got windy and a bit cold so she was glad to get home.  Its summer and the heater is on tonight to keep us girls warm.

Reveal

Poor reader Willie got worried about the beastie mum found in the garden.  It is a fern about to unfurl and is the biggest in our garden.

Beans

Mums niece sent her this photo last night of her new friend Beans.  He is a little polydactal kitten that her and her boyfriend have adopted.  What a sweet little guy.

Cherries 🍒

The neighbors cherry tree has the most cherries on it that mum has ever seen.  They don't get enough sunshine in our city to grow big or sweet.  Mum is not a fan of cherries either - how about you?

The best part of Caturday  is assisting in getting the bed covers smooth.

Watching

There was some window watching this afternoon.   Checking out for intruders and tasty looking birdies.

Spooky

The trees that the landlord had trimmed a few weeks ago look spooky in the twilight.   Also it allows the neighbors behind us to have a view of our windows,  so mum has to make sure that she closes the curtains before she whips her clothes off.  No problem  for me - I'm naked all the time.

Blimey

Mum rushed home after work, gave me dinner and went out to have dinner and drinks.  It was school friends that mum has known for forty years and it was lovely to catch up.  The girls drunk rose and cocktails, and ate rice and dumplings, fish cakes and satays.   Mum was glad of the walk home up the hill to move things around a bit.  She will sleep well tonight!!

Me well I got home and had a nibble on my leftover stinky food and am ready to go back to sleep.

Monday

People were commenting about the market that mum went to yesterday.   We don't have to wear masks or social distance.  At the moment we have no Covid cases in the community.  There are some cases in managed isolation.  What that means us that New Zealand borders are closed to only a few select cases.  So you can't book to come for a holiday here, but if you are  Kiwi overseas or in some special cases you have to apply and get approved.   You then arrive off a plane and are taken to a select hotel, where you have to stay for 2 weeks.  In those 2 weeks food is provided and you are Covid tested at day 3 and day 11.  And then allowed out if you test negative.   At the moment it is working,  but can change quickly.

We watch the news and worry for our friends who have tough restrictions and lockdowns.  We feel for you all and hope that things will get better in the New Year.

We hope you are not offended by mums photos,  she wants to share pictures of being out and about.  These flowers are from a neighborhood garden, and mum is sure the owners were laughing at mum taking  pictures  of their front yard.

Market

Mum and her besties meet up every year for a local craft market.   This was the first time in 10 years that mum hasn't had to wear a jacket or bring an umbrella.   In fact it was hot, and super busy.  Mum got herself a couple  of little treats to put in her Christmas sticking, and went for a bit of a wander for the afternoon.  The clouds have gathered back over the city now for a couple of days of rain again.

Shop Dog

Mum saw this cute dog Mabel at the local shop the other day.  I think I would like that job.  Napping on pretty couches is a great job for me.

Summer Sleep

Finally we have had a couple of summer evenings.  Perfect for a snooze.   We hope you are getting good sleeps too.

Sunshine

After wind and rain, today was beautiful and when mum went out, everyone was complaining that they were too hot!! Mum put these solar lights out in the garden to charge up in the sun, so I kept guard to make sure no other cats came and stole them.

December

Gosh it's December already.  It was windy and cold last night and I only woke mum up four times to check she was still at home with me.  She stayed in bed and read her book for a while and talked to me.  By lunchtime the skies were clearing and mum washed her clothes and got them on the line before her trek to the supermarket to stock up.  Then home to read again and a wee nap.  Such a lazy day off for both of us.

So December we hope you warm up and give us some sunshine,  it has been a super cold and wet November and mum is sick of having to drag a jacket  everywhere.
