Mum will have to keep more than an eye on it Poppy!x My goodness! What on earth is it..! I've just Googled New Zealand caterpillars, as it looks like one, though in the photo it's difficult to see the actual size of it!
Be sure your mom takes more pictures and tells us what that creature is. It looks kind of scary Poppy, so be careful when you take your outdoor walk from now on.
Yikes, that looks a bit scary! Is it a real critter or some sort of strange, fuzzy plant? It has the shape of a fiddlhead, a baby fern, but it doesn't have the colour or texture of the ferns we see here.
I've been ALL over Google with this.. AND..There is 'NO' such animal living in New Zealand that looks like this! :(.
I think Kea could be right..and Poppy!x and Mum are having a moment..! HeHe! :). It looks very much like a Fiddlehead fern, they do go that colour as they age..but, by no means huge, just a close up photo..! HeHe! :o).

ReplyDeleteUgh! It is very hairy. Better be careful not to touch it because hairs often cause allergic reactions.

(I could be wrong)..
If you were Down East here in Canada, that'd be a fiddlehead. Maybe he's an immigrant to your country.
