Big Night Out

Last night mum and her bestie went out on a little adventure.  They headed out to Lower Hutt, to see a show (Kelvin Cruikshank the psychic).  It turned into a little bit of a grand adventure.  Mum and her bestie were a bit early and thought they would go and have a sneaky little takeaway burger, but the burger shop had disappeared from where it used to be.  Mum thinks it had probably been gone a couple of years, but she is seldom  on this part of the suburbs.  They trekked to the local mall and had a nasty cheap burger and then headed to their show.

The show was ok.  Kelvin was entertaining and came off as a nice guy, much like many of the books that he has written and the girls were glad that they went. They thought though that he did a lot of explaining, and although his readings were good, he only talked to about five people in the three hour show.  Very interesting.

On the way home up a busy street, there was a man wandering onto the road in front of cars lining up beer bottles, a large rubbish bin and blanket.  Mums bestie pulled over, and mum got out to get the stuff off the road, so there wasn't an accident.  The man was quite disturbed, but mum told him that he couldn't do that, he would get hurt or cause an accident.  Another lady had pulled her car over too to try and clear the scene - notice that no men got out to help out - typical.  After a couple of minutes a lone policeman turned up, but the guy had disappeared into a local highschool.    Drama.  Junk food, a show and a crazy man - a big night out for the mumster.

So the mum slept well, and went and had a big old day at work.  But work is over now and she is mine - all mine!!!!  Have a great weekend everybuddy.

Storm Interlude

The wintry storm that was covering NZ seems to have lifted and as mum left work it was sunny and warmish.  She didn't need her gloves or scarf.  So we are soaking up the sun before it disapears, as it is prone to do at this time of year.

Mum has fed me the feast early, so I guess I better go and take it easy.   Nothing like the tenth snooze of the day.

All Betterer

Hi everybuddy - thank you for the well wishes.  Mum says that I must feel betterer, cos I was chirping at her when she got home and wanted my feast.  Sure is cold and windy here, so I have joined mum in the living room nest to the heater.  She made butter chicken and rice for her dinner, loads of leftovers for the next couple of days.  Nothing wrong with mums appetite.

Strange Behaviour

The mumster is a bit worried.  She got home tonight after a visit to the grocery store for essentials.  I did not run to greet her, but just a quick hello when she came in to pat me.  I did jump off the bed later, but just wandered through while she made her dinner.  I did not want any feast or any biscuits.  I just took myself off to my bubble blanket and went back to sleep.

Mum is  hoping I am not sick, just feeling the pressure changes as the weather turns stormy.  Mum is happy to leave me to myself, and will come and snuggle with me soon.

Snoozy Sunday

Are you snoozing yet?  Is it Sunday where you are?  You better get ready for some sleepiness.  Mum and I slept in real late, and mum enjoyed reading her book in bed for a lazy hour.  She then got up and after a lunch of tomatoes on toast, she dragged me out into the garden.  She mowed, raked, pruned, sprayed and picked up.  Washing was done and doors were open as the weather was sunny and breezy - how lucky we are.

The sunlight is going though and mum has already eaten her dinner at 4.45pm - before I have had my feast!!  She put some bread and apples in the garden for the birds, so I am outside trying to catch one.  I might not even need some feast!! (good luck with that plan says mum).

So enjoy your Sunday friends.

Monkey Moves Caturday

Hey hey it's caturday!!  This sunny afternoon here, I demonstrated to the mumster what I call my monkey moves, by clambering all over the deck and just going crazy (no catnip involved).  It was nice to get out in the garden for a little while.

Did you do something fun today?  Mum and I slept in, and she got to finish a book in bed before hitting the market.  Todays haul was potatoes, lettuce, pumpkin, corriander, tomatoes, lemons, carrots and one big fat leek.  So maybe a pot or two of soup is planned for the week, perfect for wintery lunches.  Mum then went for a walk in town and spoiled herself with a magazine and lot of window shopping.  Home before dark and time for a couple of chores, and a late old dinner tonight.  Roasted salmon with lemons, roast potatoes and pumpkin and broccoli.

Hope you all have a lovely Caturday!!

Fab Friday

The sun came out today to tease us a little bit.  If it is sunny, I run out and play in the garden for the morning, and sometimes I disappear.  Mum thinks that I sneak to the neighbours house to lie on the bricks and soak up the warmth.  I climb on top of this little shed, and drop down on the other side.

We sure are glad that it is Friday!!  A fabulous Friday indeed.  The mumster headed to the library and picked up a huge pile of good reads.  She made some oven fries with a piece of steak for dinner - possibly not the most healthy, buy yummy and a Friday treat.  What else if fabulous about our Friday, a little treat of a bottle of  Blood Orange soda, a good documenty (about the Exponents, a Kiwi band) and not having to get up for work in the morning.  The mumster is happy!!

Enjoy your Friday!

Cold and Chilly

Mum has been seeing lots of this lately, my snuggled up keeping warm pose.  Tis a bit cold and chilly here at Chez Q.  The wind is blowing up from the south (Antarctica) and we is feeling it.  The mumster has her scarf and gloves on under her jacket to and from work.  We spent the night snuggled up together, and I had to wake mum up and tell her when I got in from my toilet breaks outside.  I like to let her know if it has been raining outside - just in case she didn't know.

Mum says she does like heading to bed early to read her book snuggled up with me, that's the good thing about winter, especially now she has warm fleecy sheets.

Twosday

Today my mumster got to hang with me again.  She and I had a little sleep in again, which was good as it was getting a bit chilly overnight.  As you can see our bed is piled high with cosy quilts, which I love.  Our old house gets cold, but once mum and I went outside it was really warm, most unMay like.

Mum got two pairs of jeans hemmed last night on her sewing machine, and she was pleased that they looked tidy, seemed to be the same length, she has been able to wear them all day and she didn't break the sewing machine.  The domestic bliss continued, with more washing, gardening and tidying,  and she emptied more of the wardrobes.  Today she loaded up three huge bags to   take to the charity shop.  Where we live there are approximately 8 charity shops within a 5 minute walk.  Mum chose to give them to the SPCA one, that way the cats and dogs get some more monies.

Instead of going out to lunch, mum supported the local bakeries and got a cheap pie for her lunch.  After doing some more jobs, she went to the new French bakery that has opened up around the corner from our house.  OMG - mum had the passionfruit meringue tart (a small one) - now  mum has a new favorite thing.  Mum says it was a 10/10.  She'll be cooking lots of vegetables for her dinner after the calorific day, lucky mum did lots of walking today .

Hope you all had a great Twosday too.

Mumster Monday - Budgetising

It was a mumster Monday here at Chez Q.  After working all weekend, mum and I finally got to sleep in, at least til 8.30am when the bin men arrived to empty the bins and make lots of clattering noise.  Mum had thought of going out for the day, but as the mail only bought bills, her budgetising told her to stay home and make the most of the day.

After a bit of rain, the sun came out, so mum pottered around the garden picking up leaves, then she attempted to tidy up the lounge and kitchen (almost finished).  The shower needed a clean, so mum did that between watching lots of stuff on the DVR.    Before dinner, she even hemmed her new pyjamas to shorty length, which made her happy.  She had gone and got some more thread and denim needles, and is going to attempt to hem some jeans this week - wish her luck!!!

So leftovers are in the oven and I have had my feast and am in bed already (its 6.10pm here).  Mum thinks that she can give herself a few dollars tomorrow to have a treat, but she has to be aware of the budgetising and so no shopping will be allowed.

Hope you are all enjoying your Monday too!!!

Sunday Chilling

I sent the mumster off to work again today, so I got to have a day by myself napping on her bed.  Mum had some photos, but her computer won't load them again.  Now that work is over, mum has attempted to do some tidying up, and has put the dinner on.  It's a steak and onion pie, with parsnip/carrot/swede mash and some peas for her - some beef feast for me.

She finished watching a DVD she had from the library.  It was Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.  She says it is a chick movie about female friendship, and the movie was a solid 3/5.  She loved the book, one of her favourites   She has a great pile of books to read, and lots of things to watch on the DVR, which is good when the rain is forecast and the winter is all around us.

We hope you are all enjoying your Sunday evening, relaxing and eating some good noms.

Caturday

It's Caturday here again at Chez Q, we can't believe how quickly it it has rolled around again.  Mum was up at early o'clock, and had to leave to go to work at 6.30am.  It was raining and cool here and mum said everybuddy else in the street was tucked up in bed.  The good thing though, was that mum got home by 3pm and I got my feast real early.

So mum is off for a walk soon to stretch her legs and buy me some more crunchies and something for her dinner.  Then her plan is to warm the couch up for the evening, as she has to be up early tomorrow morning too.

Enjoy your Caturday - so something fun.

TGIF

The mumster got called into work overnight last night, so us girls didn't get too much sleep.  It did mean though that we got the day to spend together.  Mum was sooo sure that she wasn't tired and could last the day, but a snooze at 9am turned into a 3 hour nap.  A shower and a quick visit to the shops made it a good afternoon.  Mum bought exciting stuff like needles for the sewing machine and thread - woop woop.

A night of junk tv and loads of washing machine we are about to turn in to get a good nights sleep tonight.  The mumster is working the weekend, but finally at 4pm on Sunday, she will have a couple of free days.

Enjoy your end of week.

Hibernation

Mum laughs at me.  When she gets home about 5.30pm this evening, she was greeted by me, as I wanted my feast.  Once I got it, I gobbled it down, and was back in my bed - on her bed by 5.45pm.  She says that I can sense the winter coming and I am preparing for my hibernation.

Hello Hump Day

We are so glad that it is hump day, although mum does have to work the next week, so technically for her it is not half way through her week yet.  Mum thanks you for all of your nice comments on yesterdays post.  She does try to feel positive most of the time.  She thinks that most of us are good at that, and blogging has made us better as we realise what a lucky bunch we are.

Tuesday Thoughts

Mum was thinking how lucky she was to have leftovers for lunch and dinner.  More time for chores and relaxing when you have a night off from cooking.   Mum was lucky to be able to have enough money to spend at the supermarket after work.  She is going to dust off the slow cooker and put some lamb on for tomorrow nights dinner.  Lucky that she can afford to have a small cabinet of fancy feast ready for me.  Lucky to have  a pile of good books to read and some tv to watch and a warm bed for us both to sleep in.

We live a lucky old life.

I Touched a Cat & I Liked It

We know - mothers day was yesterday.  Did you get your mumster a present?  It's never too late you know.  Look at this wonderful tea towel that we discovered on ETSY yesterday.  I Touched a Cat and I Liked It is the name of it, and it is made by the very talented Ableandgame who hail from Melbourne Australia.  They'll ship these beauties all around the round world.  You know you want one!!

We asked them if we could show this little bit of fabulosity on our blog, and they were kind enough to say yes.

Which kind of cat are you?  I am the scaredy cat - I would be outside hiding from you.

Happy Mumster Day

Happy Mumster Day to all the lovely mums out there.  Even if you don't have kiddies yourself, like my mum we hope all you furbabies have been nice to your mums and tell them what great jobs they do.  What wonderful jobs they do of looking after everybuddy.  I loved my mum soo much, I sent her out to work tonight!!  Now she is home, eating some meatloaf and mash, watching Xfactor NZ.

Smooches to all the mothers - xxx

Caturdaying

Caturdaying:   Doing what you normally do every other day (cos, you're a cat), but with extra vigor cos it's Caturday, the bestest day of the week.

Hiya caturday friends, hope you are having an awesome day.  Boy, it was chilly here in the capital city this morning.  The mumster was going to go to the market but the chilly winds kept her away.  Instead she did some jobs, and then went off to have a bagel brunch with her besties.  Then they went shopping.  Mum bought winter accessories, some gloves, new tights, a couple of bras and a new umbrella.

She came home to feed me the feast and made herself a meatloaf, and put the groceries away.  Now the heater is back on, and mums is going to plant herself on the couch.

Enjoy your  Caturday everybuddy!!

Watch Out - Staff About !!!

Watch out - Staff About!!!  The Mumster is home at a normalish time today, ready for the feast.  Mums intention in the early evening was to head off to the supermarket to stock up on some noms, but when she went to the door, there was some rain and cool windy southern winds.  So turnabout and mum is cooking from the stuff in the fridge.  So sausages and a carrot/parsnip/swede mash for her, and a feast for me (this post is not sponsored by Fancy Feast - but maybe it should be).

Again!

Mum gotted home late again tonight!!  I do wonder about the staff, she sure is not keeping up with the 5-6pm dinner time that I demand.  She says that she will be back on track tomorrow.  She better or I might be looking for a replacement!

Hump Day is Here

We are so pleased that Hump day is here.  Me and the muster got to have a great sleep in this morning, which was good as it was a frosty chilly morning and we were in need of a snooze.   Mum got home at late o'clock and so I only got my fancy feast just before midnight - how late is that!!!

Hope your  servants aren't as slack as mine is!!

Enjoy your hump day.

Heaterbility

We have had to dust off the heater today and get some warmth into the house.  Tis a bit on the chilly size. Even though she is trying to reduce her power bills this year, we still have to warm the house on these cold nights.

Mum made herself a tasty pork chop tonight with some more mash.  She was happy as the free range pork was on sale at the supermarket.  She tries to not buy pork from factories that cage their animals.  She wishes that she were more disciplined and could be a vegetarian, but she does like meat.  She knows that our NZ grown cows and sheep get to live in the paddocks, see the blue sky and eat lots of green grass.  Not so lucky are the chickens and pigs which are factory raised.  It's a bit of a third world problem isn't it, worrying about our food, where it comes from and how it was raised.

Mondayitis

Today would have been the perfect day for mum and I to stay in bed and snuggle up.  It was cold and boy did it rain!!  Luckily the storm died down while mum headed to work, and I headed back to bed.  There were over 100 lightening strikes on our city overnight, but the thunder wasn't too bed, so there was lots of snoozing going on at Chez Q.

You know how mum found that $30 yesterday - well she went to the supermarket after work and bought some tasty treats and some steak for dinner, and lots of can of fancy feast for me!!

Hope you have a nice Monday everybuddy.

Gratefulness

Our day was filled with gratefulness.  The mumster says that we are grateful for:

  • The glorious hot weather we had for two days.  It allowed mum a couple of hours in the garden and she managed to pull out lots of weeds, and chat to the neighbour who was also out weeding.  A day at home is good for the budgetising, as no dollars were spent.
  • She was particularly happy to find a $20 note in some jeans she was putting away for the winter, and for $10 note she found in the garden!!!
  • Mum made a nice carrot, coriander and potato soup for her lunches during the week.  Healthy and organised!
  • A yummy piece of salmon in the oven for dinner.  I don't like people food, so I won't be sharing.
  • Starting a good book.  Mum started Instructions for a Heatwave today.  Nice to have a good book from the library to read.  We hope you all support your local libraries.
We hope you all have a good Sunday, and lots of things to be grateful for.

Hey Hey it's Caturday

The sun was a shining this morning, so the mumster got the camera out and chased me round the garden for photos.  Isn't this one great!!!  She went down to the market and got lots of green stuff and carrots, a big lamb roti for her lunch and some pastries to nibble on for Sunday breakfast in bed.

Into town - she needed a digital tv recorder, and decided to bit the bullet and just buy one.  She doesn't really like going into electrical stores, although it is nice to look at all the new toys and shiny stuff, she feels like the boys do when they have to go to a ladies clothes shop.  Anyways it's all brought now, plugged in a going.

Now she has a half hour of relaxing, she's fed me my fancy feast, and she is heading back to town for dinner and a movie with a bestie.

Hope you are all enjoying your Caturday - have some fun!!

Relaxable

Hope you are all having a relaxable Friday.  Mum came home and put the owl pants on and made some baked beans on toast for her dinner.  The washing machine is on, and some of the chores are done.  Bad television is being watched and then me and the mumster are going to have an early old night.  Whoop whoop - it's a wild Friday night at Cheq Q.

Changes

We can sense the changing of our seasons.   We are having less of this sunshine, and more grey clouds with lots of lovely rain due over the next couple of days.
Mum has also noticed that the snuggly season has begun.  I now go onto her bed and she better be comfortable, cos I'm going to pin her to the bed in one position between her knees so she can't move.   Mum is enjoying those flannelette sheets she bought last weekend, so much so that she might go and buy some more at the weekend.  Middle aged shopping adventures are awesome!!

Panic Over

Panic over - mum went back to the supermarket and got some toilet paper.  If there is a bottom emergency she is covered.  She got the paper and some other stuff, but they forgot to give her her bacon.  Oh well.

Do you see mums new pillow cases - she loves them.  And that grey lump lying there - she loves that too.
