Caturday

It's Caturday here at Chez Q - what have you got planned?

We had a little sleep in this morning.  Mum says that the flu medication gave her some uber crazy dreams.  She is glad that the flu is finally seeming to be leaving her although she still has a cough and blocked sinuses.  She had to go to the hairdresser today.  Her old hairdresser of six years Amy had left to go overseas, but she is pleased to report that her knew one Cushla did a fab job and mum feels like a rockstar with nice hair today.

Mum was sensible and thinking about budgetising  and bought some groceries instead of a takeaway for dinner, so that for the price of one burger she got to have two homemade ones for dinner and two for tomorrows lunch.  She bought lots of little treats, and then she forgot to buy me any more biscuits.  Luckily there is lots of feast in the little cupboard.

Enjoy your Caturday my furriends.

Winter Ready

We are in the midst of winter here and due for a rather coolish and wet weekend, with snow forecast in the parts that get a lot of snow, and cold in the other parts (that's us).  We are ready to go, our heaters are warmed up and due to budgetising reasons, mum will be keeping close to home.  She has one reason to venture out, and that is to join her besties for a cheap dinner and movie.  Other than that, it will be comfy clothes, couch and home.

Mum had been feeling a bit blah lately, and so she listened to her doctor (that would be Dr OZ), and bought some vitamins.  She got some Odorless fish oil + vitamin D that she swallows down at dinner.  Even though she is usually sceptical about vitamins, she does actually feel a bit better, and as a result her hair is now getting silky and feels much softer.  Her skin is also not as winter dry as it normally is.  She gets lots of vitamin C and other vitamins through the fresh fruits and veg she eats.  Does your person do any vitamins?

Hope you are all getting ready for your weekends and enjoying the sunshine if you have it.

Chilly Caturday

Hi everybudyy, it was a little bit chilly here at chez Q on Caturday.  The mumster and I slept in which was nice.

Mum went marketing and got corriander, onions, swede, parsnip, feijoas, capsicums and courgettes.  Then mum headed out to browse a couple of shops and then to the supermarket.  All up, she spent about $80 NZ for a weeks food and supplies.  That is about 40 pounds or about 60 US dollars.  She will still have to go back during the week for some more meat and fresh bread.  Groceries are pretty pricey here, with meat and fish hugely expensive which is crazy as we grow our own meat on NZ grass, and are surrounded by oceans.

Mum is pretty proud of herself though, as she decided that this year she would take  her lunch to work every day and not waste money buying it, as it was easy to spend a huge amount of money doing this.  She has made it through to June, and ingrained in herself a good habit that will help with the budgetising.

So a chilly day, and after mum browsed the shops, she came home and put the heaters on.  She read a few pages of her book, and then we both had a wee nap together, spooned on the big bed.  Steak with potato and salsa for dinner for her - and a feast for me.

Hope you are all enjoying your Caturday.

Mumster Monday - Budgetising

It was a mumster Monday here at Chez Q.  After working all weekend, mum and I finally got to sleep in, at least til 8.30am when the bin men arrived to empty the bins and make lots of clattering noise.  Mum had thought of going out for the day, but as the mail only bought bills, her budgetising told her to stay home and make the most of the day.

After a bit of rain, the sun came out, so mum pottered around the garden picking up leaves, then she attempted to tidy up the lounge and kitchen (almost finished).  The shower needed a clean, so mum did that between watching lots of stuff on the DVR.    Before dinner, she even hemmed her new pyjamas to shorty length, which made her happy.  She had gone and got some more thread and denim needles, and is going to attempt to hem some jeans this week - wish her luck!!!

So leftovers are in the oven and I have had my feast and am in bed already (its 6.10pm here).  Mum thinks that she can give herself a few dollars tomorrow to have a treat, but she has to be aware of the budgetising and so no shopping will be allowed.

Hope you are all enjoying your Monday too!!!

Gratefulness

Our day was filled with gratefulness.  The mumster says that we are grateful for:

  • The glorious hot weather we had for two days.  It allowed mum a couple of hours in the garden and she managed to pull out lots of weeds, and chat to the neighbour who was also out weeding.  A day at home is good for the budgetising, as no dollars were spent.
  • She was particularly happy to find a $20 note in some jeans she was putting away for the winter, and for $10 note she found in the garden!!!
  • Mum made a nice carrot, coriander and potato soup for her lunches during the week.  Healthy and organised!
  • A yummy piece of salmon in the oven for dinner.  I don't like people food, so I won't be sharing.
  • Starting a good book.  Mum started Instructions for a Heatwave today.  Nice to have a good book from the library to read.  We hope you all support your local libraries.
We hope you all have a good Sunday, and lots of things to be grateful for.

Wild and Mild

Just in case you thought the mumster would be budgetising every weekend, today she blew the cobwebs off her wallet and spent some dollars on stuff.  It has been a pleasant weekend in the city, warm with a bit of wind.  Mum went out for dinner with her bestie last night, but there weren't enough middle aged lady movies scheduled,  so they decided to head home early.  Sunday was allocated for spending fun.

So, today mum headed out for a seaside walk and a spot of shopping at the Warehouse, where you can always find something to blow some bucks on.   Today mum decided to stock on some pyjama pants, the wild blue ones and mild pink owls.  Oh and bonus, the pyjama pants now have pockets in them, which mum loves, as if she slides them on after work, she still wants her keys in her pocket so she can unlock the doors.
Some new flannelette sheets to warm up the winter bed, already washed and just drying in the drier ready to put on the bed tonight.   Mum also bought a DVD and some tasty groceries, hello steak and mash for dinner, and custard and feijoas for dessert (a NZ/ South American fruit).

A couple of mums power bills were out of control last year, with the highest one being $400 (about 200 pounds or  $320 US)!!!  That was for gas and electricy, but just remember that mum lives alone, she is out at work most of the day and only every heats our small living room and bedroom.  Hopefully as the weather has been mild so far this year, the bills won't be as steep this year.

Keep warm and enjoy the end of your weekend.

Caturday

It was a rainy old Caturday at chez Q.  Perfect for a day of quiet pottering round.  The mumster was keen on budgetising and not spending any money.  So food was dug out of the fridge and not a penny was spent.
As you can see, now I am not going to sleep on the bed mum made for me.  She had to wash the top towel due to my heaving up at 3am during the week, and now I don't like it as much.  Instead I'm going to sleep on her backpack.

Enjoy your Caturday everybuddy!!

Caturday

Howdy kitties and friends, it's Caturday evening here and we are just chilling.  Mum had lots of intentions, things to do, but after paying all the bills on Friday night decided that it was best to stick close to home and save some dollars, us trying to be budgetising and all.
She did head off to the library to get some great books, the market for tons of fruit and vegetables.
She went to the supermarket to get the rest of the groceries.  She fancied chicken wraps for dinner, but managed to spend $70 and walk out without the tortilla wraps.  Oh well - she says the chicken salad was tasty, and left a bit of room for dessert.
My day = well I did a bit of exploring, racing around, sleeping, snoopervising, fancy feast eating and pestering mum.  Life is good!!
Enjoy your Caturday everybuddy!!!!

Budgetising

Last night mum was at work for lot of hours, which I enjoyed.  It was a summer night and warm so  I stayed playing in the garden all night waiting for her.  I am exhausted today, and have been napping with mum.

Mum had good intentions of going and get some jobs done, and going to the movies to see Lincoln.  She decided that instead of spending money at the movies, she would watch a movie that she had got from the library on DVD.  Movies at the cinema are about $16 here, and for that she can watch four movies from the library. She watched The Grey, as she likes Liam Neeson, about a group of works stranded in Alaska after a plane crash.  Her verdict was it was a good 4/5 watch, but very grim and lots of violence.

She thought she might get a takeaway burger for dinner, but instead she has put some fish and hash browns in the oven and is cooking some broccoli.  She had all those things in the fridge/freezer , so is a much better and healthier option.

Tomorrow she gets paid, and has birthday and leaving presents to get and bills to be paid, so mum is going to have to be careful with her dollars this month.  She is going out for dinner on Saturday night and might get lunch out tomorrow, so that is enough treats for the week.
