Today we had a lull in the rain. The sun even shone for us this morning. That's ok, as today was our last day of autumn.
Tomorrow winter truly begins. So mum has bought lots of soup, stocked up on library books and but all the big quilts on the bed.
Alas, she thinks there are only 2 cans of fancy feast left in the cupboard, and she finishes late tomorrow night. So she senses it will a cold dark visit to the supermarket tomorrow night in order to stock up my little cupboard of fancy feastness. I did offer to eat temptations for dinner all week, and she said no!!
Mum said cross your paws, and I might bring something home for you!! And she did!! I gotted 8 packets of temptations, 3 fish and five chicken. I don't know what you are having for tea tonight mum - but I'm sorted!!
Today is Bed day, where mum pulls the duvets off and airs the bed before putting on the fresh sheets tonight. It is super duper raining here, so she won't be hanging the sheets out today, and I will be looking for somewhere snuggly to nap.
Mum has a barbque to go to - which should be nice, as it is with friends she hasn't seen in a while.
Dear Sunshines, We remember seeing you just last week. Your delicious rays shined for a few hours, letting mums washing dry (and you know how she loves having her washing dry outside). We know you have runned away to keep all of our Northern friends warm. Keep shining on them, as they all had a long cold winter and could do with your warming ways. Just don't forget about us - k???
Some of my furriends asked about NZ weather. Our country gets some snow in the winter, especially down south. Where we live it is mostly rain, wind and cold. We are lucky, as generally we would describe our weather as mild. We like to complain about it, but we know how lucky we are after seeing so many floods and snow storms during the Northern Hemisphere winter.
Mum didn't mind going to work in the pouring rain today. She wore her boots and spare pants, scarf, hat and gloves and a big raincoat. By the time work had finished, they were finally dry and she put them back on and came home. Then she had tea and toast, and the heater was on.
Hope you all had a good day, and if you have sunbeams - soak them up.
This is a picture of me and my quilt on Saturday, before my mum stole it and put it in the wash to defur it. Now I am just left with one tiny pillow to lie on, till it dries. This is my latest daytime spot, as I get to watch the street below.
When mum gets home from work, she whistles to me so that I can get up, stretch then run to greet her at the front door.
This is why I have been staying inside, under them big white rain clouds is little green New Zealand. We've got our raincoats ready, the washing is drying inside and we have lots of food. Bring it on!!
Last night, I got to cuddle up to big green on the bed. All my dreams come true!!!
Today, mum washed all the furs out of my favorite quilt and let it hang out on the line. She tried to get everything washed and dried, as the weather forecasters say the week will be mega wet and windy.
So mum went for a walk in the fresh airs, and got some groceries so that she can bunker down with me.
Saturday is a good day for standing on the step sniffing in the smells. Hope you all have a great day and do something exciting and fun!! I'm helping mum with some chores, before she heads out to the hairdresser.
Your purrs worked!!! The rain held off all night, so mums washing dried and she got up at 6.45am and got it in just before the rain started again.
Coz we're feeling lucky, mum says she better buy a lotto ticket for the weekend. Autumn/winter has blown in this week and we are preparing for a slow couple of months. Lots of hardy soups and slow cooked meals, heater on, books and dvds for mum and snuggly blankies for me.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and get some relaxing.
Mum had fun on Saturday. She met her besties for the movies, they saw Robin Hood, and even though there was lots of fighting, Mum liked Russell Crowe when he has a haircut and wears tunics and tights. Then there was gormet pizza and laughs. Because mum is middle aged, a spot of grocery shopping was done and she was home with me by 9pm.
So we had time making the bed, to stop and have a photo session. Mum found teddy down the back of the bed, and got him posed with me. Then before you know it, it's Sunday again.
Mum had all kinds of plans, but none of them included lots of rain. Rain makes us lazy, so she and I had a sleep in, and mum has managed to waste the day away with a good book, internet time and cooking a nice tea. All good things for mums sore back.
Hope you all have a nice weekend too - restore the batteries for the week ahead.
It is almost the weekend, and after mums weekend of working she is pooped. She is hanging out til 8.30pm on Friday when she finishes work. Her back is sore and two days of laziness are in order.
I am back into my winter routine. That means I get up for breakfast, do a circuit around the property, then resume my resting position. When mum gets home about 9 hours after leaving, I am in the same spot.
Last night we had the mega rain here, but it has been surpisingly warm for this time of year. Winter winds and colds must be on the way to us soon.
For Mothers day, I got my mum this lovely little brooch. It was handmade here in New Zealand by the talented Melissa at http://www.tinyhappy.typepad.com/, she sells her stuff on ETSY. Anyways, it is made of charcoal wool with 1920s lace sewn on top, and mum says it will look great on her winter coats and jumpers. She says I have good taste.
Look - my breakdancing got me in a club!!!! Why I am a member of the Good Kitty Club, and I get to join lots of my friends Fui, Suey, Lishy and the boys at Rumblebum . Thanks to their lovely mum for the super picture!!
Remember that it is Mothers day on Sunday, so get your mum a little treat over the weekend.
Mum has to work over the weekend, but gets tomorrow (Friday) off work. So today (Thursday) is our Friday night. So mum has cooked a nice meal, will try and get some washing done and will stay up real late.
Tomorrow she is going to take herself out to lunch, and maybe to a movie. She says it is nice to potter around while there aren't too many people around.
Last night my mum went out. She met some of her oldest friends at a bar. Then they went to another bar, then they tried to get into a restaurant but it was too busy, so they went back to the second bar, which mum says was good, cause she liked their pineapple Cosmopolitans. They ate there - Hummingbird it was called, and although nice the meals were teeny tiny and the girls were still hungry.
So they went to another bar. This one was called the Library, and was stacked full of old library books, and was a bit too cool for school. Still mum and her friends tried to look hip and just had desserts. These too were pricey and microscopic - oh well.
So when mum got home at 11pm, I was sitting on the step crying for her - like the little hungry orphan cat I am.
Then we went to bed and crashed out. Now she tells me she is off out again tonight.
