Happy New Years to all of my friends. Thank you 2019 for all the tasty treats and warm naps!!! Thank you friends for joining us on another year we are grateful for you all and the friendship and kindness you have brought us.
Mum was lucky and got taken out to dinner with friends tonight to a fancy restaurant. Mum even dragged out her dress to wear. It is linen and was a bit rumpled. As she does not have an iron she used her hair straightener to make it presentable. She didn't tell her friends that - they would be horrified.
Mum had delicious lamb shanks for her dinner and I think the best cream brulee she has ever had. She will sleep well tonight.
Me - well I had a feast for dinner. it was delicious too.
Mums friend came over for dinner and they laughed all night. A bottle of wine helped. I was brave and walked past mums friend 3 times. I even came in and asked mum for dinner. After my feast I slept on the mum bed waiting for her to say goodbye to her friend and to head off to bed
Mum took photos of these plants today- she loves how bright green they are. She went and got the final Christmas groceries today. She has enough food to feed a small army. So we should be good for a couple of days.
Poor Australia - the thought of those fires is pretty scary. We feel for all of those families who have lost their homes and businesses.
Mum liked the brightness of these flowers she passed on her way to work today. She worked tonight but finished at 10.30pm and was able to go the supermarket on her way home. She was stocking up on lots of treats for herself and a certain little grey cat she knows. Two more shifts and then mum gets a break with me.
My goodness it was nice to have a sunny slightly cool day today. Mum nearly wore out the washing machine and used up all the pegs in her rush to get things out on the line.
Mum then joined a bestie for lunch out and a walk in the sunshine. She also took a walk around town on the way home.
Mum and I then relaxed for the evening. Mum got a spray bottle when she was out so the aphids got a dose of dishwashing liquid tonight. That was all the chores she could be bothered doing. Tomorrow is another day.
We hope you all have a lively Caturday and did something fun.
Mum it's raining again!!! We were awake most of last night with the heavy winds and the rubbish rolling around in the back yard , and today it has been cold and rained all day. Mum and her friends from work had drinks after work at a garden bar, which was rather cool. They were under shelter and didn't get too wet, but mum was glad to get home and put the heaters on. It is our summer and we are having a double heater night.
We feel like we are continually moaning about our weather. It is summer here, with the longest day approaching and the weather is a bit rubbish. It has rained all day and night without a hint of blue skies. Good for the garden but annoying for us.
Mum hopes it clears for Christmas and her few days off.
Oh and she googled aphids on plants last night, and tried a bit of dishwashing liquid + water on the flowers to kill them.
I was a good girl helping mum in the garden this afternoon. She pulled a few weeds but the clouds were gathering so she soon retreated inside. Groceries were bought and were put away. Mum had already eaten her dinner at 4.45pm so she had time to get some chores done. Tuesdays lunch was made - ham/tomato/salad rolls and some strawberries. Tuesdays dinner of chicken tacos was organized - mum likes to put spices on the chicken overnight so it is tasty when cooked tomorrow.
We are enjoying having green grass at the moment, and the rain will be good for the garden especially the Passionfruit we are trying to grow. Our flowers are a bit sad the aphids have attacked them and we are not sure that they will survive.
Mum met a bestie for her lunch today and then went for a big walk around town to look at some shops, she didn't buy much as it will all be on sale in the next couple of weeks. She bought a few little treats to put in her Christmas stockings and got the dreaded secret santa gift for a work colleague. Every year it ends up being the most stress trying to find the $20 gift. Mum stresses about what she buys, and always ends up getting given something with a cat on it.
Mum was glad to get home to see me, as her feet were sore from all of the walking. She nodded off sitting out in the sun and then needed a nap. She hopes it won't affect her sleeping tonight. Last night she didn't fall asleep until 4am, and had to wake up at 7am. It seems to be a theme this year, a year of little sleep. We hope 2020 will be a better decade for sleeping. So time to go and sit on the couch for a couple of hours.
We hope that you have a nice Caturday and do something fun.
The storm has blown over. It wasn't bad for us, but lots of floods in the South Island. Of course that news was dwarfed by the news of the White Island Volcano that happened this afternoon. How awful for the people killed and injured in the disaster, and we especially feel for those on their holidays. We hope that the police and rescue teams can return to the Island tomorrow.
Today mum and I were a bit tired. Mum got home at midnight and we both had our dinner. By the time she watched a couple of shows and read some of her book it was close to 1.30am before the lights went out and we were off to sleep. At 3am there were huge peaks of thunder and rain that woke mum up off and on for the next couple of hours.
So I'll go back to sleep again mum while you go back to work. See you for midnight dinner again tonight.
Mum finally got to bed earlyish last night, but it was hard to sleep as the weather was very windy and noisy outside. Worse was some banging that sounded like a door blowing open and shut, so mum got her dressing gown and slippers on and went outside to check that the garden shed was closed. It was, so she could not find a source of the noise and got to sleep finally an hour or so later.
When she got home from work this evening, she saw that the upstairs flat had a bedroom window open that was swinging open slamming against the house. About 8pm she heard one of the upstairs flatmates moving about, so went up to knock on the door. Mum asked politely if they could close the window. The girl seemed surprised to hear that it was annoying. Mum doesn't have anything to do with the people upstairs, they seem to come and go at different times and mum never runs into them. They seldom use the back garden, so that is mostly our space.
Thank goodness the window is shut now, so hopefully us girls will finally get some sleep tonight.
Mum just rolled over last night and closed her eyes to go to sleep and she got called into work. She got home at 4am and got some sleep before heading into work again this afternoon for a couple of hours. She feels like a zombie tonight though, and hopes she can sleep tonight.
She got me these new biscuits to try. Day two and I'm still eating them and even forgot to ask for my usual feast for dinner. Mum is sure that the enthusiasm won't last too much longer.
A storm is brewing outside tonight. Mum has closed up all the windows and pulled the curtains tight. She is on call tonight and hopes she doesn't get blown away if she gets called in. I've secured my position on my bag for the night.
Last weekend mum found this grey wool Christmas stocking. Mum has put a couple of little treats for me and her in it. She met her friends for an annual market visit today. It started out nice but 3/4 of the way round it poured down and they all got soaked.
So, mum was glad to head home and spend the afternoon mooching around with me.
