oooooO! Lovely! Poppy!x Growing up as a Catholic l was taught.. That several parts of the plant, including the petals, rays, and sepals, symbolized features of the Passion of Christ. The flower's five petals and five petal~like sepals represented the 10 apostles who remained faithful to Jesus throughout the Passion. The circle of hairlike rays above the petals suggested the crown of thorns that Jesus wore on the day of His death, and the sepals the nails used on the cross.. It's a lovely flower..one of my favourites...! :).
Passion flowers! How lovely to see, Poppy. Thank mum for sending out the photo. All is leafless and brown in Ohio, so this is definitely cheerful. Precious is watching her 100 Goldfinch in the back yard eating us out of house and home of bird food.

Wow, wonderful crop. By the time I get to Dad's place in Tauranga his will have few flowers but, hopefully, plenty of fruit. Do enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWill your mum be able to eat that fruit, Poppy, or is it for the birds?
