Sunday Close

Our Sunday is coming to a close, just as many of you are waking up and having your breakfast depending on what part of the world you live in.  Mum and I went to bed early last night which was nice, nice to get a full 8 hour sleep, something we struggle with most nights.  Could just be a middle aged lady thing or as mum thinks  - a having a job thing.

So mum got herself up and ready and decided that even though it was sunny, she would take herself to the movies to see Brooklyn.  She loved that movie, sweet and subtle, a movie about what it means to be homesick and what you consider home,, a feeling mum understands as she left home and was independent from age 18.  Saoirse Ronan was just amazing, she did a great job of telling the story and holding it altogether.  Mum likes that it was also not overstyled, the costumes and hair were realistic, the home knitted jumpers and outfits worn several times.  She hates when there is a period drama and the female heroine arrives with one small suitcase, yet turns out in a different shiny new outfit with matching shoes every day.  Anyway, she would recommend this one to all - although it might be too slow for any twenty somethings out there.

Mum then went off and did some jobs for the afternoon, she sat and ate her lunch in the sun, and then popped into the library for a little browse.  Supermarket next for some supplies, and home to take a nap with me on the bed.  Her intention was to read, but she only usually gets a page or two read before passing out.  So now we are tidying up and getting ready for another week of work.

Hope you all get to enjoy your Sunday and do something fun!

Cool Caturday

Last weekend was super summer hot, but today mum had to put the long jeans on and grab a cardi, cos it was a bit chilly at home.  She had a leisurely beginning to her Caturday with us girls have a little lie in.  Mum then did a few chores before heading out.  She then swiftly forgot about the one thing she was meant to go and do and had a little wander.  She then met a bestie for some pork tacos and a nice drink.  The girls then went to see The Danish Girl which they enjoyed.  Groceries were picked up, and mum got home before 7pm!!!

I only got one feast tonight, but lots of cuddles and mum says we are having an early night tonight - no arguments!!!

Hope you all had a fun Caturday!

Double Dip Friday

I am all tuckered out tonight cos it was double dip Friday kitties!!  I got myself two dinners tonight - two I tell you!  When mum got home at 7pm she served me up my feast and I gobbled it down, even licked the plate clean.  Then at 9pm I kept telling her I was hungry/hangry even.  So at 11pm after a solid effort of two hours of meowing at her from the kitchen, the couch and on her knee she gave in and gave me another plate of dinner.  She sure is looking to my meaty breath breathing all over her tonight.  Good times.

Mum had a good day at work, and got to go out and have a lemonade with the young ones for an hour after work,as one of her young colleagues was leaving. A quick and easy dinner was had, and mum made a few phone calls, then she did some relaxing, and before you know it Caturday will be here.

Late

Mum has been on the late shifts again this week, which is good as us girls have had a chance to have a lie in and a cuddle in the  morning.  It was a bit chilly here overnight, so mum put an extra quilt on the bed, and I made sure to climb on top of her and keep her warm.

She had an easy sandwich for her lunch and some fruit.  It is stone fruit season here in NZ, we have lots of apricots, nectarines and plums.  All sweet and tasty and they never last for long.  Mum has made a thai chicken curry and rice for her dinner, which makes it easy for her at work.

I don't get my fancy feast til mum gets home - so real late, but I have lots of crunchies to snack on.

Fixed

Finally - the internets got fixed.  The other night (last week), mum got home to find no internets.  She pressed all the buttons on and off, tried all the phone lines in and out.  She then rung the telecoms which said it would be a 20-30 minute wait.  Well it was a 1 and a half hour wait to be told she would be put through to the phone people which was another 40 minute wait.  Mums speaker on her cell phone is not so good, so mum walked around the house with the cell phone tucked into her cleavage.

All the hours they offered to get an engineer out were impossible for a shift working mum.  Today he was booked for between 8-9am which is nice to give you an hour window.  Mum thought she better get up and showered and dressed early so she was looking semi decent.  Then the phone went at 7.30am to say all was fixed.  Nice to get some good service isn't it?  Mum  was pleased.

So now we have lots of catching up to do.  Nice to see you all!

Toesie Tuesday

How are you doing fans?  Mum and I had a good day.  She had a lousy nights sleep though, as she was on call but didn't get called in, which didn't stop her waking up every hour til finally at 5am she lay in the dark til 7am.

Mum worked all day, which went smoothly and was good company which made the day go smoothly.  Then mum went for a walk to the library and stopped in at the supermarket to get an easy microwave dinner.  Mum was not in the mood for cooking, so easy was good.  I had a fancy feast and then we did some relaxing.  Although mum says doing chores like dishes and washes is not quite as relaxing as my sleeping, she did take it easy.

So hope you get to get some relaxing done today too.

Stormy Monday

Stormy Monday sounds like an 80s band that mum would have loved - all padded shoulders, long hair, gel and eyeliner, synthesizers and moody poses.  Mum, well she worked all day then popped into the supermarket, cos she was down to the last two toilet rolls and she dreads a pooh emergency.  All is ok - we are all stocked up now.

Mum came home and fed me my feast, and then popped onto the deck to watch this little thunder and lightening storm whizz up the harbour.  She told me to come inside as it was about to start raining, but I ignored her and sat under the little bench on the back porch until I got soaked and then frightened by the thunder and ran and hid under the deck for 20 minutes.  Then I came inside and made mum move over so that I could sleep in her warmed up spot.  So she is now in the bedroom blogging while I snooze the night away.

Hope you are all having a lovely night and tucked up all cozy and warm.

Sea Fog Sunday

Mum was up early to visit the bathroom this morning at 6.30 am and can see across the harbour, although she cannot see the water itself she could see that there was lots of fog.  When she got up again after 8am it was clearing.  So she took herself off for a little walk.  She then took the bus to Petone to catch up with a bestie and went out for lunch.

All day she has been thinking about those lucky folks who won 1/3 each of the large powerball Lotto in the US.  She wonders about their weekend and how amazing a life they can have.  We know money might not make you happy, but mum would have a good go at helping as many people as she could.  Wouldn't it be fun!!

After having lunch, mum then went to visit with some more friends for the afternoon.  It was lovely and sunny and mum even rolled up her shorts and went into the water to her knees.  Really cold but refreshing.  While they were there they could see heavy see fog rolling in across the harbour opposite them.  Mum has never seen fog like it.  When she got home round 5pm the fog was thick and heavy, a real pea souper and mum was able to rescue her washing off the line before it was too dewy and wet.  Me - well I slept through it all.

Hope you all had a nice Sunday and got some relaxing done.

Caturday Viewing

The mumster has had a long day.  She got up at 5am and was at work from 7am til 3pm.  The day was muggy and foggy so she didn't mind being at work, and there was pleasant company so the day went fast.  She then came home and relaxed with me.  She then headed into town to meet some besties where they had a tasty burger, and then the girls went to see Suffragette, which was good and mum likes Carey Mulligan, and mum loved looking at the costumes and hats although the story itself was a bit grim.

Mum then came home by 9pm to help me with reading my blogs and having a couple of Caturday cuddles.  So life is good.

Hope you all had a good Caturday and did something fun.

Da Bird

I got Da Bird as my christmouse present.  I don't always play with it lying down, just mum finds it difficult to get action shots, so don't think I am lazy.  No time to play tonight.  Mum got home late, time to feed me my feast, her to eat her foods and then get a load of washing done.  Go you middle aged lady you!!!  Actually she chilled out a bit, ate some Easter buns and took it easy!!  She has to be  up early for work tomorrow so no late night for us.

Enjoy your Friday everybuddy!

Just Chilling

Mum and I are just chilling at the moment.  I have got used to her being back at work, and am relaxing all evening.  It makes mums smile, cos I am spending hours all curled up in my little bed in the living room.  That towel did the trick - it has made it the perfect place to snooze the evening away in while mum watches the tele.

We are having some perfect summer days and evenings at the moment.  So nice to enjoy the sun and summer breezes while they last.  Luckily we don't get super hot, and having the doors and windows open keep us cool.

Solution

Mum wasn't sure why I was not using my cat bed - the one I loved just four weeks ago.  So tonight she dropped a towel in it and watched me watching it.  It took 10 looks, 15 minutes and now here I am having a good old lick ready for a sleep.  Score says mum!!!

Captive

I got stolen captive on Caturday and taken to the vet to have a senior check - the cheek of it!!  I is only 9 years old.  I had to have my temperature taken, my vaccinations done and then some furs shaved off my tail to have a blood pressure taken.  I did behave, but left the vets scrubs covered in a nice coat of poppy furs.  I do not like being in my carrier, and I roll around and howl.  Once we get in the taxi an at the vets I am quiet.  I was gentle with mum, but did give her one scratch when she picked me up and tried to comfort her.  In 9 years I have only given her 4 scratches, so she forgives me.

Luckily I could have a quiet weekend to recover.

Hot Caturday

After stormy Friday, today is super hot and nice which is good, and a little breeze too to keep it nice.  Mum met some friends for a lunch and had a wander.  She got up real early and blasted through the housework, so my carpet is nice and clean.

We have a busy weekend, so please forgive us for not posting tomorrow - but see you on Monday!!

Have yourselves a lovely weekend - do something fun!!!

Ohh ohh

Ohh ohh - what is that thing on the spare bed and why am I sitting so close?  Mum opened up the spare room tonight to find some things, like summer tops that she thought she had better wear before the summer is over.  She didn't actually need them today, as we had a lovely mid summer storm with 140km winds, rain and thunder and lightening.  Mum was wishing she had a day off, rather than having to get up in the middle of that and go to work in a jacket and scarf in January.

Hope you all had a lovely Friday.

Taste

Mum was having her lunch the other day, and I was interested in what she was having, and came up and had a sniff.  But no taste, vegetables - yucky!!!

Mums old cat Puss, well she loved fresh corn on the cob.  When mum used to cook some she would have one and Puss would have one too, mum had to turn the cob round so that she could chew on the kernals.  Must have been good for her bowels.  One of mums friends cats likes sweets and will run over wanting one if anyone has a bag of sweeties.

Telling Off

I has to give the mumster a big old telling off today, as she let me run out of biscuits and got to the bottom of the bag.  I growled at her, and she felt so guilty she rushed off to the supermarket to get me some more.  Good job she listened to me.

Helping

Just helping my mum tonight by holding down the duvet as she changes the covers. It is January which is summer here, but mum still has a flannel sheet on the bed, as she is cold at night ,only 8 deg C here tonight.  Hardly a mid summer heatwave.

The clouds did clear this afternoon, so mum got a chance to hang some washing out in the breeze.  She will be glad to have all the towels washed and dried in one day after days of rain.

As it has been cold at night I like to go into the lounge and stare at mum until she is ready for bed.  That's what I'm doing now - so night night friends.

Simple Sunday

So no need to go out and water the garden this weekend, it has continued to pour with rain here, a good mid summer pour down.  We are sure the farmers in the region will be pleased, as the pastures have all been rather dry and words like drought have been floated about for some weeks.

The mumster awoke early at 8ish, but it was so grey and miserable outside she came back to bed and snuggled with me and read her book for a few hours, quite a pleasure.  She then got up and made some chicken and salad rolls for her lunch, a bit more book reading and mum got a few episodes of Downton Abbey watched.  Some beef and potato salad for her lunch, and a feast for me.  Quite civilized.  This evening was taken up with phone calls to family, then an episode of Downton before bed.  How swanky!!  Mum loves that lady Edith gets to have a romance, and that Mr and Mrs Carson get married.

Mum has been pleased to be able to relax this weekend and enjoy some simple pleasures - good books, tasty food and quality shows - and me!!!

Quiet Old Caturday

It is Caturday today, but mum says all the days feel a bit muddled at the moment over the festive season.  There has been a lot of rain up north, and a bit of it has drifted down to us.  We awoke to pounding rain, so mum sneaked back to bed to read away the morning.  A bit of colouring in was done while she rewatched Gone With the Wind, a movie she hasn't seen in about 10 years.

The clouds parted for a little while in the afternoon, so mum dashed to the supermarket to get some supplies and the easiest of dinners, a pre cooked chicken and some potato salad for her and some new dinners for me.  Ohhhh gravy!!

So mum was looking at these photos last night when she made yesterdays 2015 collage.  I haven't been in the bed for about 3 weeks now.  My camping spot is back on mums bed.  Funny huh!!!  Still mum was thinking of her old cat puss who spent 6 months over winter sleeping on the front porch, and refused to be moved even on the coldest nights.

Tonight she is watching another classic - When Harry Met Sally - she couldn't believe when she googled it that it came out in 1989 making it 26 years old.  Boy, time flies.  When that has finished time to read and off to bed.

Hope you are chilling on your Caturday like us.

Hello 2016

Hi Friends,
Hope you got to welcome in the New Year with some style or fun or just plain old relaxing.  Mum strained her back a couple of days ago and was not in the mood for rushing around.  So us middle aged ladies did a bit of relaxing at home.  She cooked herself up some hand made chilli spiced fries and had a some Coke zero.  She had saved Interstellar to watch - it was ok, maybe she was expecting movie magic but just felt it was a bit long.  The funniest thing was that the movie stopped working at the end, in the last 10 minutes.  Thank goodness for youtube - wouldn't you know it, the ending was available on there, so mum did not have to go to bed not knowing what happened!!

Thanks for sticking with us for another year, we wish you all health and happiness for 2016 and hope at least some of your dreams come true.

Love
Poppy Q and the Mumster
