Approval

Mum put some fresh linen on the bed to have a fresh change as the New Year approaches.  I have it my approval by falling fast asleep as soon as the bed was made.

p.s mum put my bag back on the bed after she took these pictures.

Snippets

We had snippets of sunshine today.  Washing was done - mum lives having it dry outside.  Mum's bruised leg was sore yesterday and today, so mum stayed home to rest it.  So I helped her relax and it was the first day of no alarm clocks.

Mum made it to 4.30pm and is so happy that now she is on a bit of a summer break.  No uniforms and no alarm clicks.  Yippee!!!

Present

Mum gave herself a you've worked too hard this month Christmas present.  She liked the look of this pink gin.  She couldn't have any tonight as she is on Call, but she will be ready tomorrow evening.

She finished work early and braved the crowds in town to look at a shops but the things she looked at weren't right.  So she took a walk, and got some noodles for dinner popped into the bottle store and then came home to be with me.

Glimpse

We finally got a glimpse of sunshine this afternoon, and mum rushed out and put washing on the line after days of rain.  She did some housework this evening  before a big meal of Christmas leftovers - yumm.

Mum worked again today on Boxing Day which is a public holiday today.  Two more days of work and then mum gets to relax.

Mum got a big bruise on her leg and doesn't remember how she got it.  Probably from running into something at work.  That makes her feel old when things like that happen.  A glimpse of her future.

1 Sleep Til Santa

Mum got a whole 1 hour sleep last night.  Thank you last week's night shift.  Hopefully though after a busy work day her body click is a little bit reset tonight.

She made use of her early start and went to the supermarket in the morning before work to avoid the Armageddon shoppers who have to buy 20 punnett of strawberries and all the bread.

She has to work Christmas and Boxing day but come Friday 4.30pm she will be able to kick back and relax.

Quiet

We had a quiet day today.  Mum had intended to go and visit some friends at the seaside, but as she got up and got ready the rain was beginning to set in.  Mum rang her friends and said she would postpone a visit.  Her nightshift lack of sleep was catching up with her and she spent the day quietly with me.  Now it is 11pm and now she is wide awake.  She does have to work tomorrow, and normal routine will force her into sleeping again.

Just two more sleeps until Santa comes.

3 Sleeps Til Santa Caturday

Mum had a whole 2 hours sleep this morning - woop woop.  She coped with dropping books at the library, visiting a couple of shops and then fish tacos for lunch.  And then at 2pm she faded And had to head for home and a nap.

Tonight she is thinking that she is pretty tired, so sleep will come.  Alas she has noisy neighbours having a party, but it is to be expected as it is the party season.  As long as they pack up by 1am.  So mum is blinked in the couch watching Breathe and eating a bowl of summer raspberries.

Me well I was glad to have a nap with her tiredness and will be glad to be back into a routine again.

We hope you are all enjoying your Caturday and not in too much of a festive frenzy.

Chilling

Mum is glad that her night shifts are over, although her last night was the easiest.  Someone actually apologised for it being so quiet, but mum doesn't mind being bored.  She read a chapter of her book and watched 2 episodes of The Handmaids Tale.  A luxury that seldom happens at work.

Today she thought she would get some things done but she needed a nap.  She did get some washing out on the line before the rain arrived.  Dishes were done and food cooked and our flowers are soaking up some summer rain.

Mum lit candles and turned the Christmas lights on.  A face mask for her and a massage and a brush for me.  I'm happy, I get my bed buddy back tonight.

Last

Tonight is mum's last night shift - day 7 of 7.   I have been good and snoozing next to her during the day as it is cold and raining.  Except for the day I woke her up to tell her it was 2pm!

Nightshift

I'm left alone again.  Mum starts the nightshift tonight.  Good luck mum!

Hots

We had a scorcher of a day today which felt like summer.  I was outside again when mum went to work.  She hopes it cools down a bit as she has 4 days of night shift and it is hard for her to sleep in the day time.

Alive

Mum can't believe she has kept her flowers alive for a month!!  I knew she would be ok - I've survived 12 years in her care.

Outside Napper

This was me as mum left for her evening shift.  See you at midnight mum.

Sunny

Mum has two days off and luckily they have been sunny and warm and we have welcomed having the windows opened all day.  The return of bugs and flies us not so great, but we are trying to enjoy summer before it flies past us.

Mum has been trying to relax and read rather than watch too many shows.  She has enjoyed a few walks and tries to avoid town, as it fills with Christmas shoppers.  Best to avoid the malls at this time of year - those crowds are intense.

So the Christmas twinkling lights are on - mum has another couple of evening shifts coming up and then the week if night shift leading up to the holidays.  She hopes that she doesn't get sick like last year!!

Evening

Mum is back onto the shift work, so I have the evening to myself.

Napping

Mum went out this afternoon for a couple of hours.  As she left I was napping like this and I was like this when she got home.  Mum wanted to get outside for some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine, as we have more rain forecast for the week ahead.

Mum came home and napped next to me.  She pretended to read her book, but lately that seems to send her off to sleep.

By the way mums love for me far outweighs the hatred she has for my plastic bag that she has put up with for two months of being on her bed.

Caturday

Mum has figured out that she has no reason to set an alarm clock between now and the 23rd of December, as she is on shift work between now and then.  So she had been enjoying sleeping in.  She is also taking a news break until the New Year.  No watching the evening news on the television and only checking her phone a couple of times a year.  She already feels a bit more relaxed after two days.  A good way to move into holiday mode.

She put batteries into lights and unwrapped some Christmas decorations today.  She has not gone overboard, just some glowing lights and Santas.

I helped her do chores today, although I hid from the vacuum cleaner.  then I napped while mum walked to the library and got some spicy noodles for her dinner.  She was happy- raspberries are back for sale.  Tonight a movie on the couch for her and snuggles for me.

We hope you have a nice Caturday and do something fun.

Stormy

Mum is glad that she rushed into town straight after work to do some jobs.  It was a bit cloudy, but the by the time she got home the wind picked up and has being blowing like crazy outside.  Now it has cooled down and is pouring.  Poor mum is on call tonight, and she wonders if she has to go out in the bad weather.  Luckily work pays for a taxi to and from work, so she won't get too wet.  We wonder if we will get a couple of sunny days in a row?  Time to turn the on call phone on.  Nite nite.

Clean

All the sheets and covers got cleaned atlast today and the bed is now freshly made.  No vomiting today so mum gave me lots of pats and a feast  for dinner.  She is going to pull out the nutribullet and blitz up some fruit for her dessert.

Sunday

Today was so muggy and hot, mum sweated out a swimming pool today.  She got up early go meet friends to go to a local fair.  They try go go early before the pram/dog to people ratio gets to high.

Stormy weather was due, so mum did a couple of quick chores and got home just as thunder and rain started.  The good thing was that the storm moved away from the city so we were okay.

I gobbled down my dinner tonight.  So it came up again quickly, and I managed to soak through all 3 of the quilts on the bed.  This us one if the reasons that we need dark bedding on the bed.  So mum spent the rest of Sunday night cleaning, soaking and scrubbing the bedding.

We hope your Sunday night is better than ours.

Thursdaying

Mum put some bread out for the birds this morning so I had to come and sit outside and watch.  She has been optimistic and getting some washing out on the line.  The fridge has been cleaned, dishes are soaking and she just has to vacuum the carpet and then she will sit and watch something on the box before she has to think about heading to work.

Over It

Mum and I are over the drizzly cool weather.  Summer starts in the next couple of weeks and we have the heater on tonight.  I don't want to go outside as the garden is damp and cold.  Mum is trying to make the most of it, reading and relaxing.

She is back on the afternoon shifts for the rest if the week.  She has made chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight and a couple if dinners to take to work.  she has planned a shopping list and a chore list do that she gets a couple if things done with the mornings she has at home.

Time to put the electric blanket and snuggle up on the bed with mum.  Night night.

Lovely

When mum got home last night there was a lovely gift waiting for her.  Her friends had got her some flowers to brighten up her place.

There was a bit if cat hissing this afternoon and this time it was me.  Naughty cat snuck in and  had cornered him under the couch.  Mum came out and growled at him and chased him out.

View

Maybe it is not the best view in the world, but you can see I did not get a full Brazilian for the summer, just a slight trim.  Anyway I was giving mum a happy greeting cause she came home.  She rushed around all day.  She did washing this morning and vacuumed the carpets and then went and met a bestie for a walk and then some nibbles.

The real reason I was pleased to see mum - I needed my bag back on the bed!!!

Oh and mums middle aged lady moment.  She woke up at 3am as she heard a big cat fight outside.  she got up to look out the window, and put a dressing gown on and went out into the backyard.  She heard the cats do a final hiss.  She stood outside for 5 minutes and came back to bed.  Then she realized that I was in the bedroom - it wasn't me fighting.  I was snoozing!!!🐈

Thankful Thursday

Lucky me - I got to go to the vet yesterday to get my summer bikini butt trim.  We got a new vet who was lovely; but mum was honest.  She said now I am a senior citizen there will be no more diets, no $60 diet/teeth/joint biscuits that I never eat and no stressful tests or surgery unless necessary.  I growled a little at mum as she held me so the vet could do her checks.  I got a good bill of health except for my arthritic knees, my slightly problematic teeth and my 6.3kg weight.

Mum bought me home and I ate all of my feast and then snuggled up with mum when we went to bed.  Best if all no vet bill!!! Mum pays $30 a month for a pet insurance.  it pays for my vet checks twice a year, a blood test and some surgeries. Last years dental surgery was free because of the policy.

So we are thankful this Thursday for the good vet visit and no big Bill's and a snuggle on the bed.

We hope that if you are celebrating Thanksgiving that you have a lovely time with friends and family.

Day Off 2

Mum got to have today off as well.  It rained all morning so she didn't get out of the house until 1pm for a quick dash to the shop pretending to be a post office.  She misses the post offices which all seem to have been shut down in the past year.  Standing in a smelly and busy grocery mart is not the same; and she feels sorry for the post shop workers whose jobs have almost disappeared.  Her nana worked at the local post office when she was a little girl.

As she came home the clouds cleared and mum put the towels out and we both sat outside to enjoy a little sun.
