Quiet

The streets  were quiet as mum left work this morning at 7am.  All good kiwis were staying  home doing what they are told.  Mum went to the supermarket  closer to the hospital  and got most  of  the things she needed.   There was flour  and yeast there - but only about 10 packets. Mum left it there though, ither peoples needs are greater than hers.   Lots of shelves were only half full, and looked different  to they usually  do.

There were some nice big posters  up thanking the supermarket  workers for working  hard during lockdown .  We hope  people  are being  nice to them.  Mum is grateful  that she can get in and out quickly  with 95% of the  items she wanted.  If course she forgot to get some things  off her list , because  she forgot  her list.  Thank you night shift brain.

Quiet

This has been a weekend like no other here in our small country.  That so many were killed in a place of prayer, killing men, women and children is beyond words.

Those poor families - their grief must be hard to bear.  We are taking the time to be quiet.  We have met and talked with friends.  Thank you for your kind words.

Quiet

We had a quiet day today.  Mum had intended to go and visit some friends at the seaside, but as she got up and got ready the rain was beginning to set in.  Mum rang her friends and said she would postpone a visit.  Her nightshift lack of sleep was catching up with her and she spent the day quietly with me.  Now it is 11pm and now she is wide awake.  She does have to work tomorrow, and normal routine will force her into sleeping again.

Just two more sleeps until Santa comes.

Quiet

We have had another quiet day.  Mum stayed asleep until 3am and then was wide awake.  So today she was dying for a nap, but resisted so that she could be tired tonight.  I have no problems with napping or sleeping.  Mum wonders if cats get insomnia or sleeping issues ?

In my wide awake times I like to sit on the windowsill and watch my little garden.

Quiet

Us girls had a quiet one today.  Sheets were washed and hung on the line, the dishes done and more were made.  Easy dinner, simple lunch. Mum brushed her hair and then tried to give me groom - but I was fast and got away.  A book was finished and a book was started, a movie watched, the fan was on and we just kept it simple.  Nice.

Quiet

Us girls are having a quiet one tonight as we are very tired.  Thanks for all the comments on out last post and the pictures if houses in our neighborhood.   We don't live in any if those houses.  Ours is not very cute from the outside but is nice enough for us.  This is a catch up weekend for us.  Chores and sleep one are what mum has planned.

Quiet

Gosh the whole of NZ is quiet today after hearing about the early death of Jonah Lomu yesterday.  One of our finest and the most famous of rugby players, he died yesterday at only aged 40 leaving behind a wife and two young boys.  After battling kidney problems for years, it was still a surprise that he died and the whole country is sad.  As well as plowing through players on the field, he would often be the last player out out after the game is over, signing autographs for young fans.

Today we were lucky and had some warmth and glowing blue skies.  After work, mum popped into the supermarket then came home and through the doors and windows open, and I went out and stayed in the garden for a couple of hours as the birds were particularly vocal.  Mum fed me my feast and let me have a little bit of chicken al fresco out on the deck.  She made herself some Thai chicken curry and rice for dinner which she enjoyed.  Fresh grapes are nice at the moment, and mum may have eaten a few too many.

Family phone calls were made and now a little rest before mum turns the cell phone on at 10pm.  Wish her luck!!

Quiet

Today was a quiet day, no plans for anything exciting.  Mum woke up early and stayed in bed to read her book cos it was cold again.  There was rain, and lots of clouds, believe it or not we are a bit sick of grey, even though it is one of mums favorite colors.  Mum did get out and got herself walking in order to get some fresh air, which made her feel better.  Then  home for an easy dinner and phone calls to the family.

So mum has a full belly, a warm bed, a good book and a little grey cat to keep her company tonight.  Life is good.

Quiet

Last night when mum got home it was very quiet.  This is the front of her room, where the painting and building is being done.  She looked all round the inside of the house, and was out in the garden calling and calling me.  Normally I run to greet her when she gets home, but as the painters are noisy, I have been hiding.
She went down the stairs in the front of our little place, as I normally hide out there.  At 7pm - two hours after she got home, mum went up the stairs and called and called and finally I answered.  I had found myself stuck over the stairs at the house opposite us, this little villa you can see through the window.  Mum was so pleased to see me, and I snuggled with her all night.

Tonight when she got home I was in my usual spot on her bed, so mum was pleased.

Because I am an inside/outside cat I have my own little hidey holes outside, but I am a good girl and always come home and stay inside 90% of the time close by my mum.  Mum did consider putting me in the cattery, but I am always a bit miserable when that happens.  The other choice was to lock me in mums bedroom with a litter box, but it is real noisy in the house and hot too, so mum is not sure that I would like that either.

So - she will consider how I cope on today and Monday and make a decision at the beginning of next week.

She is glad that I came home.

Quiet

Today was a quiet day.  One of mums besties rang early in the morning to say that her father had died early this morning.  Although he had been poorly for sometime it was still unexpected.  Our thoughts are with her and her family at this time.  It must be hard at this time of celebrations, to have to grieve for a much loved father and grandfather.

Quiet

With all of the craziness in the natural world lately, especially the horror of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we have been sticking close to home. Mum and I had a quiet one, and entertained a friend for dinner, and mum even made a cake!!! She said it was nectarine and vanilla and was very tasty.
Can you see me using my catdoor? Mum got a stool outside the door and a box inside that I use so I can climb in and out. So, mum has moved the litter tray away, and I am using the garden now.
Have a great week everybuddy.

Quiet

With Gdad visiting, I have been very shy and hiding outside. I sneaked in tonight, and am curled up on this spot on mums bed. Mum said I am in a deep sleep, tired from being outside all day.

Mum and Gdad went out to a show on Wednesday night. Today was Gdads birthday, so they went to the museum to see a lot of old paintings (they should have bought home the Renoir), and ate both lunch and dinner out, and went shopping.

Things have been quiet though, as the whole country is in shock at the Mining disaster here, and our thoughts go out to the families of all 29 men.

Quiet Wordy Wednesday

Our house seems quiet tonight, as Gdad has gone home from his holiday with us. We think he had a good break. He got to see his first 3D movie at the Pompei exhibition at the museum, got 3rd degree sunburn walking around the harbour with mum, scraped all the scaly stuff off the bottom of mums loo with the garden tools and best of all, mum gave him computer lessons. Because of the computer lessons about the internet - Gdad got to learn about the Internet Time Suck. Where all of a sudden, you look at the clock and realize that you have been on youtube or google for two hours.

Today, as it was very hot after work, mum gave me some cold milk in a little bowl outside. It appears I am not lactose intolerant, and seeing as I don't eat any people food mum didn't think I would like milk. But I did like it, so mum says maybe I can have some occasionally.

Quiet

It was another quiet day, as mum had her second 12 hour day in a row. So she is off to bed with me in a minute. The wind is blowing straight up from the antarctic tonight, so we are starting the week off with a cold spring blast. So pull up the fleece and crank up the electric blanket - it's snuggle time.
