Tsunami Warning Sunday
We had a bit of an exciting morning. After the terrible earthquake that struck Chile, New Zealand and many other Pacific nations were put on Tsunami alert. So mum and Gdad waited til the excitement was over before they went to visit their friends, who live on the beachfront. Don't worry all the civil defence recommendations on the radio said that you should be ok, but not to walk on the beach or go swimming or out on a boat.
Of course when mum and Gdad were driving to their friends house, they saw people swimming with their children, and others out on small craft. Not many people, but some.
If mum had been concerned, and thought there was a huge risk, she would have stayed home with me, as we live inland and quite high up. Or she would have taken me with her. New Zealand only got a few little waves, no Tsunami and nobody injured at all.
Oh, and ironically the friends were out, not because of the Tsunami warning, but they had gone into town to help a friend search for a new place to live.

Story Time
Let me tell you a night time story......
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful grey ladycat who lived a grand life in a cute little house with her mum. She got fancy feast and temptations every day, and had her choice of comfy warm sleepy spots.
Then came summer, and our grey girl moved out into the garden. Temptations, fancy feast, and rain were not enough to tempt her back indoors. Our waif was very happy with her life.
Until last night, when the air turned a bit cooler. Her mum awoke at her normal time, grabbed her towel and headed to the shower, where a surprise awaited.
Why it was a headless mouse, lying still, not daring to move in the bottom of the bath. Who could have left it there? Why?
Because the mouse looked gruesome, and mum has lost her camera their are no photos of it. Instead I will show you this one of me clawing my way up my mothers trousers.
Have a great weekend everybuddy!!

February
Lots of mine friends asked about the weather here in New Zealand in Februray. It is our hottest most sunniest month, and at 8pm tonight it is just beginning to get dark. From March the evenings will get darker and a bit colder, and by April the weather will turn us in to autumn.
We don't get any snow where we live, although many parts of New Zealand do get their fair share over the winter. We don't want any of your snow, please send it north back to Santa and Rudolph.
Last night it rained here, and I still slept outside in my chair. Mum says I was soaked in the morning, but still refused to come inside.

Looking In
I am still camping outside, but I do like to look in the window and stare at my mum - and cry. I do not go inside however, except to drink or eat, and then I run fast back outside. So as soon as mum finishes work she leaves the back door wide open, right til she goes to bed.
Mum hopes that when it starts getting colder, I come to my senses and move back in.

Monday
Monday flashback - back to when I slept inside. Last night, I slept outside on the outside chair, and mum the softie left me the bathmats to sleep on. She keeps checking outside, as the grey clouds are gathering and she doesn't want to get us wet.
She would take a picture, but she thinks she might have losted the camera. Ohhhh ohhhhh!!!

If you are new to internet shopping, don't be shy, go ahead, have some fun, even if it's just browsing. We also love that you can go shopping in your pyjamas and slippers (and no, my mum doesn't wear that sort of stuff out of the house).

Saturday Smooches
We had a great day in the city, lots of sunshines after the clouds blew away. Mum got lots of washing on the line outside, and went and met some friends for the afternoon. After nibbles and a walk, she even put her feet into the sea - it was a bit chilly!!
We hope you all have a fabulous weekend, and do something nice. A nice walk, a good muffin, sit in the sun and read your book (or by the fire), watch some Olympics, talk with friends, share some nice food or snuggle with your beans.

On the Bed
Mum misses me sleeping on the bed. In December, I moved out of her room into the spare room, In January out of the spare room into the backgarden/front porch. Mum is glad that now in February I seem to have moved back into sleeping in the house, just in strange spots.
Last night mum went to the loo, and found me asleep in the bathroom on the bathmats. She guesses that once the cold nights come back, I'll come back to curling up between her knees. She misses having me on the bed.
Have a lovely weekend everybuddy, do something fun.

Itchy
Last night, mum thought she felt a bit itchy on her neck/chest area. And when she looked down, you guessed it - a big weta bug like this was clinging to her shirt. I am sure you heard her screams in America and the Uk, they were loud. She pulled the shirt off her, and the big bug scuttled away.
After napalming the bedroom with insect spray, mum found it walking out about an hour later, and she was able to capture it and put it out in the garden.
I meanwhile, was out on the street sniffing rubbish bags and missed all the action.

Happy Valentines Day!!!
Have a lovely Valentines Day everybuddy. Mum got a special red rose from her special 6 year old friend/guest who is staying. He picked it out at the supermarket, and carried it round almost wiping out all the petals. Even though mum had to pay for it, it was still very special.
She is lucky as most of her family are visiting this weekend. Miss Belle, her beautiful niece is a marching girl, and has a competition here in Wellington. So, we are hoping for sunshine, but not too much. PS - her team won the competition for their grade!!
We hope you get to spend some time with somebuddy you love too.
Red rose kisses to you all.

Visitors
Down the side of the house is another great spot to hide from visitors. Last night we hosted sister in law, and I was brave and come and sat on the couch next to her. Then she told mum that I sneaked in and slept under the bed, while she was sleeping last night.
Tonight, I am outside as we have an 11year old and six year old staying. I have popped in, but not for long.

Hello Neighbours cat
This is our other neighbours cat. Mum calls her sweet girl, and neighours cat. She is a very friendly tiny tabby girl, who likes to beg my mum for treats. She is also standing next to MY gate. That will not do.
Do you like our neighbourhood art installation? A road cone and recycling bin have been living on the street happily together for weeks. What a classy street we live in.

Hot hots
Well, mum got called in last night from midnight to 7am, so she didn't manage any sleep, and she expects tonight to be just as busy. Thanks for crossing your paws for her.
It was hot hot hot today - we're not quite used to it. When mum got home, she found me in my new shady nest, on the cool side of the house, but couldn't get a photo of it, so she will try tomorrow. The skies are red outside tonight, so we think it will be a scorcher as well. So mum says she is going to exercise her legs and get outside for a big walk.
Today, instead of sleeping she went with her friend to a big craft fair and spent four hours walking about and buying too much stuff. Stuff she might have to take photos of and show you.
PS - we know we shouldn't be complaining about hot weather when so many of you are living in snowmageddon. It's just that mum is a very English type madien, who is used to medium temperatures. So her fair skin goes bright red when the mercury gets hot, and she sweats like a fountain. And even though she dreams of living on a tropical beach, she would be a hot sweaty mess, with the most annoying hair ever.

Teenager
This is my room. I sleep on the visitors bed and coz I have a cat door from the kitchen to the great outdoors, it is like I have my own apartment. Mum sticks her head in before she goes to bed at night, and sometimes I'm not home.
She says it is like living with a teenager, except she doesn't need to pay money for fancy clothes or taxis for getting home. She does worry about me hanging out with the wrong sort of mancat though. One that keeps me out late - or pushes me off fences.

Opening Your Home
Dear New Friend Helen & Husband,
Thank you for considering opening your home and your hearts to a shelter kitty. I am sure that you will find the perfect kitty for you, and you will change their life forever.
Mum knows that her life is richer and happier for sharing it with me. I keep her warm at night and have been known to give her the occasional cuddle. I have helped her make a bijillion friends all over the world and I have made her smile more times then their are stars in the sky.
