Why?

Why does the sunshine return when mum has to go to work?  I don't mind - no work for me!!!

Relaxed Sunday Sleepy Spot

Brrrr last night was cold and although the sun shone this afternoon, it was still a chilly 13 deg C and now at 9.50pm it is 8 deg C, so a bit chilly for us.  Mum let me have my summer bed out on the deck and I got a little sleep out there.  She managed to get the towels out on the line and got them dry which was good.  Our house is old though and not the best insulated so we get a bit cool.  But tonight the curtains are drawn and the heaters are on to warm us girls up.  Hurry up summer we are ready for you!!

Caturday

Brrrr it is cold in the city tonight, it has dropped down to 6 deg C, so the heater is fired up and the blankies are piled up on the bed again.  Mum and I got to have a little sleep in which was nice then mum did a few chores.  She headed out after lunch and went to town to potter round for a while, then headed out to meet a bestie.  They had the best pulled pork tacos that are made with an apple slaw that was just delicious.  She then went and saw I, Daniel Blake a quite serious drama about a man struggling with issues with social welfare in Newcastle, UK.  

In town she saw a book - How to :  The Cat which was a take off of the childhood ladybird books that mum remembers as a child.  One page had a picture of kittens and a book.  It said something like Kittens can't read words, but as soon as an owner opens up a book or magazine they like to sit on it and read the words through their bottoms.  Mum laughed as I love her books, and love to sit on hers once she puts it through, and she always has a book on the go.

Friday Night Helper Cat

It is Friday night and my mumster got the washing on, and went for a wander down to the library to pick up some books and get a lotto ticket.  It is $30 million NZ this week, and mum just would like a chance to get a share of that. Imagine that, she could travel the world, buy us a big house to live in with a garden full of birdies and buy me a bucket of nip and a case of the feast.

 When she got home she cooked her dinner, made some hand made burgers.  Then she cleaned out some drawers to get some things off to the charity shop.  I was a good helper and helped to smooth some stuff down.

Hairdresser

Tonight was mums night at the hairdressers.  That is her hairdresser in the pink top cutting another ladies hair.  Mum likes to go on a quiet night and avoid busy Saturdays at the salon, and luckily this salon is only a 5 minute walk from home and so mum can pop home and drop off her uniform and get changed.

Mum and one of her besties have been having a discussion about hairdressers.  You see in the past 10 years, if you are a lady and go to the hairdressers they think that part of the service is to give you a head massage while they rub the conditioner in.  She gets that is may stimulate the scalp and all that, but mum and her bestie find it slightly creepy and don't like it.  Yet, both girls have yet to get up the courage to ask their hairdressers not to do it.  Especially as it is often a junior that rinses their hair, and they don't want to offend them.

They do laugh at their anxiety about offending the hairdressers.  Yet, it is like some people not liking to have their feet touched or face touched.  So ladies and gents - what do your think?  Do you like the hair massage?  Yes or no?

 (I understand - as a pussy cat I like most of my furs rubbed, except my tummy or round my trouser pants).

Happy Birthday to my Mumster

Happy Birthday to my Mumster.  Today she is a bijillion years old and I love her almost as much as my cardboard box.  I let her sleep in next to me and then sent her out into the rain to take herself out for a walk and to a movie.  She went and saw The Girl On the Train, and then went to the library and came home to chill out and relax with me.  Tomorrow she will go out and meet with friends and maybe eat some cake!!

Public Holiday

Today is labor Day here in our city, so mum got to have the day off work.  She got to have a wee sleep in with me and then potter round.  She went for a walk to town to meet a bestie for a brunch/lunch which was nice.  The girls did a little wander round, but there wasn't much to look at so they headed home after a couple of hours.

Mum and I then relaxed for the afternoon - just what a public holiday is good for.

Present Caturday

A present?  For Me?  What could be in it?  Come back tomorrow to see my birthday present!!  Mum loves the expression on my face on the second photo - it made her laugh.

Finally Friday

It is finally Friday and mum and I got to relax today with the beginning of a little staycation.  Us girls got a sleep in and mum just relaxed today spending time with me.  Of course she could not get a long sleep in as I got a bit worried that she was not getting up in time this morning and meowed and meowed at her til she got out of bed.  I am good like that.

She went for a nap this afternoon and I also came in to remind her that it was my dinner time and she better not forget.  So tea is done and I am back to napping again.

I hope you had a good Friday and are ready for the weekend.  It is a public holiday here on Monday, so we are lucky to have a few days off and chill out.

Neighbor

This is one of the neighbor cats that lives a couple of houses close to us.  We see him/her round all the time but like me is real shy and doesn't come to close and runs away if mum gets close.  Me and my mum were out in the garden doing stuff, when mum felt like we were being watched.

When mum was a girl her family had a black cat Andy cat who was awesome.  Mum is ashamed though that her father made the cat go out at night.  As in at 9pm as the family headed to bed the cat was put outside to fend for itself.  Expected to sleep in the garden or garage, it may seem mean but in 1970s most NZ families would have done the same thing.  Cats and Dogs would not have slept in the house.  Mum sure is glad that times have changed as she knows how happy I am to be able to share her warm bed and night and to be able to snuggle up with her.

Wordless Wednesday - Visitors

Morning Skies

There was a tinge of pink to the skies this morning as mum was up early to head off to work.  She didn't wake me up - too early for a middle aged pussy cat.  Mum is then on call tonight so she had to come home and have a nap so that she got some sleep in the sleep bank.

Chilling

After all the birthday celebrations I have just spent the past few days just chilling out.  Sleeping positions are changing, I have occasionally left my laundry basket and climbed onto mums bed and on the rug.  I am lucky to have so many cozy spots to sleep in.

Mum had herself a steady day at work today and has got herself some nice lamb and vegetables for her dinner.  I had myself a feast so I am full and ready for my evening snoozing. After a couple of days of sunshine with the doors open, the clouds are gathering again, and rain looks likely.  Spring weather is truly upon us.

Itty Bitty Kitty

 One of our friends asked us how long me and mum have been together.  Well mum was lucky as she got me as a little 8 week old baby back in 2006.  This is my first night at home with her on the 30th of December 2006.  Mum had grown up as a girl always having pussy cats round the home.  The first cat she got to have that was all of her own as a grown up was the lovely Puss.  Puss just wandered into her house in about 2000 and stayed.  But she got old and sick and mum was terribly sad after she passed.

She had always dreamed of a little grey cat and it was her first and only experience of going to a breeder.  The breeder was reputable, she was a vet nurse and took good care of her cats, and mum was so happy to be able to choose me.  All the other cats in mums life have been shelter cats and she has always loved them, but she knew what her heart needed and it was me!

 I settled in straight away and we have had a good ten years together.  Mum and I have lived in 3 houses together and although there is always a bit of drama and trauma moving, the important thing is that we are able to be together.

 We hope you like all of these photos - all from our first couple of months together when I was an itty bitty kitty.

Now I am a big 10 years old and mum and I are still happy together.

Caturday Meat Cake

 For Pussy Cat birthday cake - Take these two fine ingredients.  Put the feast on the plate and pile high with party mix.

Have your mum put your bowl on the floor and sing happy birthday to you.  Run away out the cat door and hide.  Cos you are a cat and can't cope with change, even if they are treats.  Come back in after 10 minutes and precede to eat as normal!!!

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes - you guys are all so kind to think of me.  Mum got home and gave me a few kisses on the top of my head and tried to give me a cuddle.  I ignored her all night and slept in the laundry basket.  Once she had gone to bed I rushed in and slept on her bed for an hour or so as it was a chilly night.  Today has been relaxing, mum got to go and visit a bestie and now is home again with me for a little lady night in.

Happy 10th Birthday to Me!! Today I am 10!!!

Happy birthday to me!!!!  Today I am 10 years old!!  Mum let me have party mix for breakfast yum yum and have a big sleep in.  She has to go to work but will come home and make me accept her kisses tonight.  It has been a great ten years together and now we are middle aged ladies together!!

Sunny Day

Today is super sunny, so mum got a load of washing up on the line to soak up the sunshine and fresh breezes.  I joined her outside, but as soon as she came inside I followed her and am now curled up in the laundry basket.  Of course mum is unable to use the basket to take the washing to and from the line as it is in use.  She is nice and let me have a towel in it to snuggle up in and I spend most of my days and nights in here.

Sleepy Sorry

Mum did mean to post last night, she did mean to help me.  However the need for napping overtook her.  After her weekend of call and not so much sleep, the sleepiness meant that she felt the need to lie down at 6pm and was fast asleep for the evening.  She finally ventured up at midnight for a snack and now is watching the Great British Bake Off which is making her more hungry.  Luckily she can sleep in the next few days, so she can get back to normal sleeping next week.

So time for me to snooze now too.  The only issue is where to sleep?  Box or laundry basket?

Dangerous!!

Look how sharp my claws are!!!  Mum laughed when she got this photo.  Actually she was tickling my paws and it made my claws come out.  I like to think it was me being a big brave girl and showing you my nails!!

Mum got to sleep in bed overnight without going to work, but it was a bit of a restless night.  When you are on call you always toss and turn without getting proper rest.  Tonight though she intends to snooze the night away!!  First she better got and do the dishes and tidy up.  A mumsters work is never done.

Me - I am snoozing in my laundry basket again.  Life is good.

What?

What do you mean you only got 2 hours sleep last night?  You had to go to work in the middle of the night?  Then when you got home you started to tidy up some stuff and made a real mess.  Then the exhaustion struck so you climbed into bed at midday for a snooze.  You had just closed your eyes when you got woken up, as your sweet niece was passing by and bought you a parcel of stuff.

So now you is awake and have to clean up the mess you made and be back on call tonight.  Good job mum.  You should be a cat - much easier!!

Curious Caturday

When mum got this parcel during the week I had to help her inspect it.  Round and round I went sniffing the corners and giving it a rub.  It had come half way round the world, so it was full of lovely smells, so I have spent the past three days sleeping in it.

The mumster is on call this weekend, so she was glad to get a bit of sleep overnight, and get up at a reasonable hour.   She got some washing done, a bit of tidying up done and made the bed, all necessary chores.  She stuck close to home so that she did not spend any money which was good for the budget, although she may have to venture to the supermarket tomorrow for some essentials.  It was nice for us girls to relax together.  She did give me a good half hour of playing with my feather toy before I collapsed in exhaustion and went to sleep in the laundry basket!
