Mum went over to the new house tonight to measure some things up. She does think that she will fit the furniture in, and there is a bit of storage. It will be a tight squeeze.
Please forgive us if the posts are few and far between in the next week. There are lots of jobs to do, but we will be sure to catch up soon.

Helper Cat
I'm being a good helper cat. I'm checking out the boxes and making sure there are no strangers in there and we can use it. Mum in fact has filled all the boxes, and has to grab some new ones from work. Luckily work has a huge free supply of unwanted boxes.
Hope you are all having a fabulous Sunday - getting some sleeps in.

Last Caturday at this Chez Q
Well, this has been the last Caturday at this Chez Q, and mum managed to post late. Nice one mum.
So mum did a bit of gardening today, some packing and a bit of cleaning. This time next week we should be in our new little house. Mum is trying hard to see the positives, but she does feel close to tears if she thinks too hard about it. This house has been a great place to live in, lots of space for us and a wonderful garden that I enjoy every day.
Today was glorious and warm, although the forecast is for rain tomorrow, that will keep mum and I busy inside.
We hope you had a fabulous Caturday.

Finally Friday
Yippeee it's finally Friday. Mum has had a long day at work, so is glad to get home and put her tootsies up. Nice people to work with, but just busy and she now has sore feet. She did a bit of packing and a bit of the washing. Dinner was using up the frozen foods in the freezer - fish and hash browns with peas and corn. A bit of kiwifruit for her supper. A fancy feast for me.
The temperature has dropped a few degrees, so I will be able to snuggle with her tonight. She awoke this morning, with me snuggled between her knees snoring deeply.
Hope you all have some fun stuff planned - only a few hours til Caturday.

Greeness
There has been lots of rain, then lots of sunshine here lately, so the gardens are full of greenery. Mum has lots of jobs to do, so tomorrow night she will write a big list. She has a pile of boxes to bring home from work, and will get the last of the packing done. Boy, does she hate packing and unpacking. We hope you all have a more fun weekend planned. Caturday is almost here.

Declutter
Today was a day off for mum from last weeks nightshift. She used it to tidy and reshuffle some stuff. She had organised a charity shop to come and collect some items. She had asked that they come early in the day, but they didn't arrive til 3.30pm tying mum to the house, and unable to go and get jobs done. Oh well. She does feel better that the stuff has cleared, and she has more room.
Me - I did a bit of sleeping and relaxing while mum kept herself busy.

Thank You Friends
Thank you friends for your kind words of reassurance. Mum would hate for us to be split up, it would have broken her heart, but it has been really really hard to find somewhere where we could both live. Good friends had offered to look after me while mum sorted herself out. Now that we have somewhere, we are going to make it work. Mum is sleeping a bit better, and tonight made a chicken, vegetable and noodle stirfry to get some more balanced food.
We will have lots of of our stuff with us,and we have donated other goods to both the hospice shop and to the Salvation army stores to use. We know we are lucky, we can afford a roof over our heads and food every night.
Oh and lucky us, we had a reasonable sized earthquake this afternoon. It just shook the house and a couple of small ornaments fell down. No one was injured, and it was centred quite a way away from our city. Some roads have been damaged and quite a few people are without electricity in the towns closest to the centre of the earthquake.

Packing
So, as you might remember, we have to move out of the lovely Chez Q into some new digs. It has been a stressful couple of weeks, but mum found somewhere that we can live next week. Prices have gone crazy in our city, and mum was not sure that she would find anywhere for us. The place she has found is much smaller than where we are, so she has had to sell a few of our big items like her desk and bookcase which she both loved. All of our books have been sold or given away, except for a couple of cookbooks. Cupboards have been cleared and mum has tried to be ruthless.
The choices in finding a house was much harder than mum had thought. She thought there would be more choices available, but in a limited time period there was not much to choose from. Prices have gone crazy. The good things about the house that mum has found is that she can still walk to work, it is close to the supermarket, it has a little back garden for me and already comes with a cat door. There is also no traffic going directly past the house as it is up 30 steps between two roads, making it safer for me.
The things that mum is finding hard are that it is much smaller, and mum has had to rid herself of lots of stuff. Storage is limited, so she will have to be selective about what she takes and keeps. The house is in the middle of a large student area, so mum imagines it will be noisier than what we are used to, and there will be more traffic noise. She also worries that it is not as safe an area as where we live currently when she leaves work after late shifts. The garden is pretty tiny and there is not many plants, as I love to curl up in the shade under some plants and sleep.
She knows though that we are lucky to find somewhere that we can stay together, she was worried that we would have to split up. This move has forced mum to face some tricky issues about her budget and that she will now have to knuckle down and restrict her spending, and stick to the budget. It has been a very confronting couple of weeks, and mums stress levels have been at the highest point. She is trying to look at the positives and trying to consider this a new adventure for us.

Caturday Night Shift is Over
Mums night shifts are over. Last night was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night/Saturday morning. In fact for a 3 hour period there was only 1 patient in the emergency dept. Mum is grateful for the kind person who works at a local takeaway joint, who rather than throw out a lot of pies, bought them into work and mum enjoyed a tasty mid morning feast. In NZ, when we think of pies we think of savoury pies, mince, mince and cheese, steak or chicken. We know that for many of you pie means a fruit pie.
So the garden guy came round to the house in the morning, mum took a little nap on the couch, but she had friends coming for lunch and her best friend helped mum do some chores around chez Q. Then mum went off and met another friend for a cheap dinner and a chat. Mum needed that.
So it is 10:30pm and it has been 31 hours since mum had a sleep, so she is hoping she has reset her body clock back to normal. I am already on her bed showing her how to do it. We wish you all sweet Caturday dreams.

Night Shift
Tonight is mums last night shift. I like to get up when I notice her put her uniform on, and then I usually walk her out to the street when she heads out to work. It is a quiet night then while she is at work. I like sleeping with her during the day. Her plan is that tomorrow she won't sleep during the day, but will get lots done and will try to sleep at night. We'll see how that goes.
Hope you are all excited for the weekend. Nice to have some days off. Monday is a public holiday here and Tuesday is mums day off, so she is glad that she has some days to be productive.

Busy Busy
We have been busy busy. Mum is on the night shift - not her favourite shift she must say. Last night was steady, but she made it through. Luckily today was cooler so it was easier for her to get some sleep. She got a couple of hours, then I came in to talk to her. After about five minutes, she wasn't getting the message, and grunted and rolled over.
She has been busy selling stuff and packing other stuff. She wishes she could take everything, but it isn't going to work, so all the books and craft stuff has gone. Mum is looking forward to a couple of weeks, where we can settle down and take it easy, and just watch some tv and read a book. She hasn't read a book since Christmas, as her brain is going 24/7.
Hope you all get a chance to relax, do some relaxing for us.

Bugaliscious
We found this big dude sunbathing on our deck this morning. He is a weta, and mum does not like them, they freak her out. Luckily this fellow wanted to stay in the garden and not visit us in the house.

Chez Q
It has been a bit restless here at Chez Q lately. You see the mumster and I have to move digs. The landlords are wanting to move back in, so we have to move out. We have so loved living here, the house has been perfect for us. Mum thinks we have found somewhere for us to go, but we are in the process of sorting that out. In the meantime, mum has been cleaning and tidying and today the men from the charity shop came and took lots of the books and things. We have also been busy selling the big things we can't take with us, as no-one we knows has any storage space. Busy busy.
So, if we skip the odd day or two we are sure you will all understand. We'll try to keep you updated on all the things going on.

Sunday Snoozing
It is a great day for Sunday snoozing here. Just lay back and relax and soak up the warmth. Sure feels like the hots for sleeping tonight. Even mum might sleep with just one cover over her.

Caturday
I sent the mumster off to work this Caturday, which allows me more time for rolling around and soaking up the day. Hope you are all rolling around and keeping warm or cool depending on which end of the world you live in.

Finally Friday
It is Finally Friday here, and although we are winding down, the mumster has to do some work over the weekend, which is ok as I have napping to do. Hope you all have plans to do something fun and a little bit of relaxing time too.

Thanks Thursday
I was a bit peeved going to sleep as the mumster kept trying to pat me. The rules are that I can touch her, but I sometimes get a bit annoyed when she touches me while I am trying to rest. Then my tail gets real mad.
I am lucky though, having a forever home and a mumster to love.

Gardener Cat
Gardening cat and the mumster thought that the black pansies had died, but it appears they have a new lease on life and happy again. My job is done.

Sleepless Sunday
Mum has been having some restless sleeps at night, so that is making me restless too. I am all tuckered out during the day, and mum is trying not to have any naps as she wants to sleep through. It is windy again, and all the trees and things are rattling outside.
Hope you are all getting some sleeps on Sunday.

Saturday Snoozing
Mum got some summer quilts for Christmas to brighten our bed. I like them, but am enjoying my shopping bag that mum gaved to me. I sleep on it every night!! Hope you are getting some snoozing done and are warm and toasty wherever you are. We hear it is pretty chilly up north of the world. It is still windy and cold here, but not like what we are seeing on the news. Thinking of you all.

Stormy
It was really stormy today, the little house was creaking and making all kinds of noises. The rain was heavy and lasted for hours and hours, so at least we won't have to water the garden for a while. So there wasn't too much outdoor time today.

Relaxing
Today is a holiday here in Kiwiland, so we got some relaxing done. Mum went to a besties for a lovely lunch on the deck which was nice to share with friends.
Hope you are all taking it easy.

Welcome 2014
Welcome to 2014 - we are glad that you are finally here!!! New Years Eve was a glorious day here in the capital city. Warm and sunny and breezy, it was a pleasure to have the doors open and the mumster made a tasty steak and salad dinner for her and then a feast for me. We stayed home and relaxed together, and the youngsters in the neighbourhood weren't too rowdy, although they did have some fireworks that they let off at midnight that made me a bit scairdy. It made me run outside and hide under the deck, but only for fifteen minutes then I came inside and snuggled nest to mum. This was the first year in years that we have stayed up til midnight!!
A leisurely lie in was in order this morning, and although we were up and about by 08.30 to enjoy the daylight as by 11am the dark clouds rolled in the it rained for a solid five hours. The mumster took this opportunity to grab a rubbish bag and do some clearing out of the bedroom of stuff that had been bugging her for some time. I claimed the bag, only letting her take it after I had laid all over it. She gave in and found me a shopping bag to sleep on, and I have been on that for the past five hours or so.
Chicken risotto was made for her dinner, and I still haven't wanted mine yet. The tele box is on, and mum is watching The Tourist with Johnny Depp and Angelina, which she has seen some time ago. She might have to throw another blanket on the bed tonight before we snuggle up as it is rather chilly here.
The mumster doesn't make any resolutions for the year, but she does have a list of goals of things to try and achieve.
We hope you all had a relaxing day too and have great plans for your year ahead.
