Sunbeams

I am happy seeking out the sunbeams.  It is a sunny day here, so I am enjoying the sunshine.  Mum rushed home tonight and got washing out on the line and did the dishes.  I just chased sunbeams.

Change

We have had a southerly wind creep up our country and bring some cooler weather.  Last night I even gave mum 4 cuddles to warm her up.  Tonight the heaters are on and mum says she will head to bed early to keep warm.

She had her tea and watched the Oscars.  Lots of interesting frocks and not too much drama.  Did you watch?

Big Cats

It was stormy and cold here today with a wintry 11 degrees.  Mum decided on plan C - which was to stay indoors in layers of warm clothing and to read her book.  She also showed me Big Cats on the TV.  Those cats sure are beautiful but mum does find it hard to watch images of them hunting.

I think I should have been included as I am a mighty hunter too.

Caturday

Look at the sunflowers at 10pm tonight!! Us girls were lazy today sleeping in until 9am.  Mum and a bestie had a nice lunch, a stroll and saw Colette at the cinema.  Mum got some salad and steak for dinner.  I got a feast and was tucked up in bed by 7pm.

There is a definite chill in the air and mum pulled out her woollie boots tonight .  She is going to finish another episode of the police drama Line of Duty that she is currently obsessed with.

Life is good.  Enjoy your Caturday.

Remembering

Today was a well earned day off for me and the mumster.  She pulled this photo out from the archives as it is one of her faves - we loved living in that house.  She was good and mopped, washed , hoovered and cleaned around our place today as it was overcast and drizzly, although not as bad as predicted.

She thought she would put in this short slide show showing some of the devastation that happened in Christchurch 8 years ago when a 6.2 earthquake struck.  185 people were killed, and up to 2000 injured.   The city is still recovering, and we all know people who were affected.

Tonight will be a good night to cosy down and relax once the jobs are done.  Good job mum.

The minute mum pops out of bed, I climb into her spot and claim it as my own.  That is why I am the queen.

Air

Once mum gets home the windows are opened to let the fresh air in and freshen up the house.  Although it is still summer there has been a wee chill in the air the past couple of nights.  So mum has been sleeping a bit better as she is not hot and bothered.  I have also snuck in for a quick cuddle - a sure sign that the seasons are changing.

Sleeping Beauty

I came and begged for my dinner at 4pm when mum got home.  She said it had to be later as 4pm is high fly time.  At 6pm as it cools down the flies sneak away and I can eat my dinner in peace.

So I went and napped in the sun.  Till dinnertime.  Then I went back to bed.  Yes there are no sheets on the bed.  I enjoy my snooze on the mattress.  Living the good life.

Caturday

Caturday was spent as a snoozeday.  The neighbors party only ended after midnight, so mum only got to sleep after 1am, so mums 5am alarm clock was a rude awakening.  So it was a long day at work for mum and even though she fought it, she had to climb into bed and have a nap with me.  So it is a quiet night at home with noodles for dinner and mum is ready to head back to bed at 10pm.  It is quite the crazy Caturday here at the house of Q.

Fridaying

Sadly today we had to say goodbye to our potted flowers.  They survived four months at home, but sadly succumbed to the summer drought of 2019.  Mum and I had a sleep in which was lovely as the city was covered in cloud and a light drizzle, that will hopefully help the rest of the garden.  By the early afternoon the cloud had cleared so mum went out for a walk.  She had to go to the post office which made her feel very old fashioned, as our city has closed them all down in the past year and seems to have thought that putting a desk up in a local book shop or convenience store is the same.  She feels for old people set in their ways that must struggle with all of the modern changes, especially as they often don't do internet banking or pay their bills online.

Anyway mum felt good as she had some clothes and boots to return for a refund, which will help put some money back into her pocket.  She got a couple of groceries and headed home.  The evening has passed quickly, and although mum wanted an early night, the neighbors are entertaining with some loud tunes.  Mum thinks she might not be quiet at 6.30am as she leaves for work in the morning.  So I will need a big long snooze on Caturday to catch up on my zzzzzs.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am all tuckered out after catching mums mouse.  She was glad it was dead when I gave it to her - and yes Leanne and Brent she emwas grateful it wasn't a rat.

She had the day off today and went to the hairdresser.  She gave her a bottle of wine and showed her the photo of me and my present which made all the hairdressers laugh.

Hugs and kisses xxx.

She is just glad that I can't work the camera and take a photo of her.

Caturdaying

Mim had good intentions of being up early but couldn't sleep well last night, so she moved around for the morning.  She did some washing and got dressed and headed out after lunch for a walk.  It was a beautiful day with no clouds and warm.  Mum got a couple if treats at the market, a little window shopping too.  She ran into a friend on the way home which was nice.

On the way to our house you could smell smoke from a small Bush fire from across town, and see the smoke.
Chicken tacos for dinner.  Mum learnt a new tip this week.  She used to fry chicken pieces and they would come out a bit rubbery.  The tip was to to first pat dry the chicken pieces with a paper towel (she used chicken thighs). Then she cut into 1 inch /2 cm sized cubes.  Put in a bowl and put a little oil on chicken.  Season with salt and pepper.  Because mum was making tacos, she added chili, cumin, paprika and a little ground coriander.  She put aside while she chopped salsa and made guacamole.

She then heated a non stick pan.  When hot add chicken and stir till brown and cooked.  She used 4 chicken thighs and cooked it in two batches.  No oil needed and it was her best cooked moist and tasty chicken.  She made a similar stir fry during the week using Chinese spices which was yum.

Me - well I ate about a teaspoon of raw chicken.  That was enough for me.

Happy Caturday everybuddy!!

No Bugs

There were no bugs for mum  tonight which she was thankful for.  She finished work at 11pm last night, but couldn't fall asleep until 3am.  Alarm at 7am and then work all day for her.  She then went to the library, got noodles for dinner and then walked home.

Washing was done and put on the line and I played outside while mum watered the garden.  Now mums going to sit still on the couch and eat.

Now I didn't chase her toes.  I love her sandals though - the smellier the better.

Movie Night

Last night as mum was heading to bed, I upped her heart rate by bringing a very noisy cicada into the house, so that she had to chase it round to get it outside.  She would not have been able to sleep if it got lost under the furniture.  Luckily for her she found it and rehomed it in the neighbours garden.

To calm her down to help her sleep she looked for a soothing video to help her sleep and found this one of this man playing Bach to Lam Duan a blind elephant at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand.  It even brought a tear to mums eye watching the elephant dance.

Mondaying

Mum was glad that she got organised last night, as she was a bit tired this morning.  Lunch was made - egg and tomato rolls with an orange for a snack.  She got to have some tasty dinner.  Baked fish with a roasted corn salsa and home made fries.  Tasty foods for her.  My fancy feast and biscuits were tasty too.

How was your foods today?

Sunnyday

Today was a lovely day - the sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky.  Mum got washing done super early and took herself out.  She needed to stick up on her favourite candles and did a lot of window shopping.  Mum got some avocados and made guacamole for her dinner and blueberries for snacks.

Mum came home to keep me company.  I like that the best.

Mighty Mousie Hunter

Look at me!!  I caught a mouse last night at 11pm and brought it in to give to my mum.   She was proud if me but did not seem to appreciate my gift and made it disappear in the garden!!!

I have had to sleep all Caturday cos I was worn out from all of the excitement!!

Friday

It's raining outside so I will head to bed early.  Mum is pleased as she says the garden is very dry and needs some water.
