As we are sweltering in too hot weather, we are watching the news about the cold weather rocking many of the US states and in Europe, and thought our friends would like some photos of our summery skies and green garden. We hope if warms you up a little.
It is 10.45pm and it is still 22deg C here, and was a hot 30deg C here during the day so mum is a bit of a sweaty mess. She went out tonight and met some friends for tacos for dinner. They then went and saw UK comedian Sarah Millican play live. Mum enjoyed it, although she felt she had heard a lot if her material before. Still it is always good to go and have a good belly laugh.
I got a late supper and mum said I could have my heated blanket turned off for a few weeks now and we can have the fan on instead. Time for bed - nite nite.
Mum had a day off today. The news keeps saying an Aussie heatwave was coming our way, but it wasn't too bad here today. Mum had booked a seat to see Green Book at the local cinema. When she got there she was the only customer, so she had her choice of seats. It was lovely and air conditioned and she wasn't lonely as eventually she was joined by another two ladies.
She enjoyed the movie. A based on a true story about Tony, an Italian guy from the Bronx who takes a job to drive Dr Shirley, an African American pianist through the South in 1962. Not just a story about race, it is a story about friendship and understanding and was able to balance the drama and humour in a masterful way.
Mum then got some dumplings for lunch. She was a bit disappointed as they were tasteless and her tummy didn't appreciate them. So she came back and spent the afternoon with me and we chilled out together.
Tonight is Sunday night, but it feels like mum's Friday night as she has the next two days off. She is a bit tired after busy days and early starts. I enticed her to lie down for a little nap, and read 2 pages if her book and then passed out for two hours.
So now she is up and doing some dishes and will have some Easter buns for her supper. I have taken myself off to bed for sleeps.
Last night's skies at 9.15pm were lovely and mum grabbed the phone to take photos while she watered her flowers.
She was meant to get up at 5am with her alarm but slept in. She was lucky to get to work before 7am when she only tumbled out of bed at 6.25am. It was a busy day so after getting groceries and walking home, mum planted herself on the couch. One more early start and then some days off. Yippee.
We hope you have all had a good Caturday and have done something fun.
It is the weekend, but mum has to work so she is hanging out until 3pm Sunday when her real weekend starts. Still she got to have a walk after work, pick up her library books, buy some noodles for dinner and have a nap. She is chilling tonight. I got pats and treats so I'm happy.
Mum stopped and sat down and ate some dinner tonight. As she left and was 1/2 way home, she realized that her underwear were heading south. The saving grace was that she did have jeans on over the top, it wasn't as if she was wearing a skirt. But it was still uncomfortable and embarrassing . Unfortunately the roads mum has to walk home on are pretty visit and there was no spot where mum could hitch her knickers up without looking like a perv. So she had to walk home with them inching ever southwards.
She was glad to get home and put a fresh pair on, and throw the offenders in the bin. Mum says has anything happened this week to make your person blush?
Hmmmm Mum your sandals are nice and stinky and are a nice place to take a nap on when you got home after work.
I needed a big nap. Last night at 11pm when mum was heading off to bed and I raced in through the cat flap with a mouse in my jaws. Luckily mum got it and took it outside. I looked and looked for it but could not find it. Mum gave me praise for being a good hunter. Who would have thought this old girl still had such good hunting skills?
Mum was disapointed on Sunday night to feel a cold had invaded her body again, and spent Monday in bed reading and watching shows and had a big sleep in today. Her main stress was that she had brought a ticket to see Nick Cave and she was so looking forward to it. She had to miss Suzanne Vega last year as she was so ill, so this was her next concert and she couldn't believe that she was sick again. So she loaded up on lots of vitamins and drinks and could feel her body fighting it, so by 6pm she thought she might be ok, so into town she went.
It was not a straight show, it was called An Audience with Nick Cave, that was a show of songs but the audience could ask questions throughout. Mum thought that would be a bit annoying, but actually it showed how smart, thoughtful and witty the singer was. His singing - oh mum was amazed by his talent. It was just him and his piano and so many beautiful songs. Oh and she only coughed a few times, and hopefully didn't ruin anyones good time.
She felt brave too, as this is the first concert she has ever been to by herself and it was ok. She booked a seat at the end of row so she only had to sit next to one stranger, and didn't get there too early so she didn't have to stand waiting by herself. Well done Mum.
Mum thought you might like to see how are passionfruit are growing, they are getting there and it won't be long til mum will be enjoying them. They have even branched out onto the neighbors washing line.
Look at these fantastic cat beds I found on ETSY at Made For Pets, made by Kate in the Ukraine. We got her permission to show these cool places to sleep. Somewhat better than my plastic bag bed. Internet shopping is a fantastic thing.
We hope you are all having a lovely Sunday and got some snoozing and or shopping done. The only real internet shopping mum got done today was her groceries. Ordered at 10:30am and delivered by 3pm, she got to have a tasty dinner and has lots of treats for me and for her.
Mum was up early as her friends invited her to go to Te Papa, our national museum as there was a display of the Terracotta Warriors. They were pretty amazing and it was one if those exhibits that made mum feel emotional as she turned into the main exhibition room where the warriors and two of their horses were standing.
Larger than life each warrior was so regal and strong looking - ready to protect their Emperor in the afterlife.
Mum and her friends then went out for bundles of fresh sushi and mum went for a walk as the sun came out and it turned into a glorious summer's day.
Me - well I had to keep the quilt on the bed.
We hope you had a lovely Caturday and did something fun.
