Mum was thinking how lucky she was to have leftovers for lunch and dinner. More time for chores and relaxing when you have a night off from cooking. Mum was lucky to be able to have enough money to spend at the supermarket after work. She is going to dust off the slow cooker and put some lamb on for tomorrow nights dinner. Lucky that she can afford to have a small cabinet of fancy feast ready for me. Lucky to have a pile of good books to read and some tv to watch and a warm bed for us both to sleep in.
We live a lucky old life.

ooooooO! Lamb! My flavourite...! :).
ReplyDeleteLovely morn'in over here Poppy.....
BUT! Wait for it...Forecast of heavy showers this afternoon...Yet again! Argh! Hate It! :(.
Have fun now....!x
That is quite a nice life you two have! Too bad you do not like human food, Poppy - I would like to know what lamb tastes like!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the leftovers -- you know how much I loathe food prep! (Except for breakfast, I like making breakfast for some reason.)
ReplyDeleteMy co-worker is reading a book by Brunet Brown, the latest "guru," I suppose, and she talks of having "enough" versus trying to convince oneself that one is "rich" -- which can be ridiculous when you're swimming in debt, dealing with health problems, or whathaveyou. So being able to say, "I have enough" for the day is much easier--and truer, I think. I've been practicing that, reminding myself that I have enough food, etc., for the day, because I can't stretch reality enough to believe that I have wealth beyond measure--not in my financial circumstances.
But enough for today? Yes, I have that! :-)
hi there in NZ, thanks for being my 260th follower, and for your lovely comment on the post about Kit lounging in the garden.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your blog and adore your beautiful grey girl
xx
Sounds like life is good "down under". Can't ask for anything more!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big complainer usually, but it's good to be reminded that the comforts we enjoy every day are those not enjoyed by many. Well said, Poppy Q.
ReplyDeleteYou two seem to be very lucky!
ReplyDeleteLife IS good isn't it? I think it is a good idea to remind ourselves how lucky we are. XO
ReplyDeletepoppy q...N lucky ewe haz each other... N lucky us...we can call ewe friend...
ReplyDeletetho we wood recommend changin that SMALL cabinet oh fancee feast ta a LARGE cabinet oh fancee feast !!!
:)
Often time we look at what we don't have rather than what we do.
ReplyDeleteOur mum is a horrible cook, just hideous. Even when she tries hard. We happen to love human food but we won't eat hers.
The Fancy Feast sounds good to me but mum says the lamb sounds much better. Lamb is her favourite and she always gets NZ lamb because it is more tender and flavoursome than British.
ReplyDeleteLove my slow cooker! It get used at least three times a week in winter. I get my fancy feast in bulk packs of 24 so each can only costs a dollar. Much cheaper than buying them individually at the supermarket. Stay warm love from Bella and me across the ditch xxx
ReplyDeleteMum says we live a good life too. Well enough, not top shelf, but not wanting. Mum eats simple in the evening, more time to do things she likes.
ReplyDeleteAnd we're lucky to know you Poppy!

I think you and your mum are very wise. My mum has been thinking a lot about knowing when enough is enough. But I would like more Fancy Feast.

Hey, that's great that you are feeling gratitude. People need to do that much more often. We tend to take things for granted otherwise.

Momma likes left overs. She said sometimes it tastes better than newly cooked food. She does magic on left overs. Tee hee...
