Ready

Mum and I are ready for the weekend    Her nightshifts finished this morning.  She had to stay awake  to go and see her doctor to chat about her shoulder.  Then she went to the library to pick up her new supply of books and a quick wander around the supermarket.   Home for lunch if a meat pie and an orange  for her, and then mum had a nap.

The evening  has been quiet as mum winds down.  Her mind is set to be wide awake now ready for going to work again at 11pm.  It is pretty tricky  to switch out of night shift into a normal sleep pattern - it feels like jet lag says mum.  Do she is going to curl up with me and her book and try and get some sleep.

Ready

Mum has been buying  a little extra each week  to stock up our cupboards.  She has about 50 cans if fancy feast and this week she will buy some more of my biscuits.   Mum is thrilled to have 20 rolls of toilet paper, 4 boxes tissues and a couple of boxes of paracetamol and a digital thermometer  in the cupboard in case she gets ill.   She has had a bad flu a couple of years ago and knows how sick it can make her.  She also works at the hospital, so the chances of coming in contact with infected people is raised.

She has lots of rice and pasta and canned soup available -  and plenty of chocolate too.   This week she wants  to reassess  what is in the freezer, and make some space for some more bread, vegetables  and chicken.   Mum wants to have enough of what she would buy weekly, so that if she was stuck at home for a month there would be enough to survive on.  She only has a small pantry so it is nice to see it well stocked.

Mum is happy  that she is prepared for most possibilities.   She has been watching  the news and the lockdown in Italy, and if she gets sent home from work tomorrow  she would be ok.  Because mum lives alone she wants us to be prepared. She is not considering it as pain buying but more as being stocked up.

How are you all doing?  Got enough  toilet paper?

Ready

I'm ready for the weekend.  Coronavirus has arrived in NZ - the 48th country to get it.  Just one patient at the moment and not in our city, so like everyone else we will have to watch and wait.  The whole country is excited to see if they win lotto tomorrow night , with a  huge prize up to be won.

Mum got only one call in last night, so she is kind of tired so she was glad that her friends cancelled a night out.  Mum secretly was glad to come home and spend the evening with me.  She made a roast chicken and veg for dinner, with chocolate mousse and raspberries for dinner and a big old feast for me.

So we are all set for the weekend.  Alarm clocks are off  and mum and I are ready!!!

Ready

I have got the bed ready for you mum.  Sick again with the germs, mum needs me to be nurse poppy for the weekend.  You can sleep in the bed or sleep on my shopping bag - whatever you fancy.

Mum missed 3 movies today so she could keep her germs to herself, although she dosed up on cold meds so that she could go and see McQueen with a bestie.  She enjoyed it , then came home to have some soup, some Lemsip and then off to bed.

Ready

We're ready for this weekend to begin.  Mum has stocked the fridge, washed her uniforms and done a couple of chores.  Then she relaxed and ate her dinner and watched a movie ( Battle of the Sexes). Now she is about to put the call phone on.  Being on call means she has no plans to go anywhere, so that she can sleep all day if she is busy at work.  She has books and movies and the forecast is for rain.

Me - well I have eaten, licked my furs, talked to mum and and ready to hibernate too.

Ready

We are getting ready for spring.  Mum has helped me to do a bit of weeding at Chez Q.  We have trimmed back and made some space for spring growth.  We have had a couple of drops of rain and a mix of sunshine, so the weeds will be going crazy soon.
