Mum got a letter and I helped her read it. They want her on jury duty in January for 2 weeks. Her boss though has written a letter as she is needed at work. The only problem is if you say you can't do it when they want you have to nominate a whole month to be available. Mum is trying to decide June, July or August. We'll see what happens.
Hope you can pick a month for the next possible jury duty that is more appropriate for you. But then that sounds like it'll be in winter time for you.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Actual duty or jury selection? (Maybe it works differently in New Zealand.) I was called for jury selection once, but was booked away at the time, so had to go the courthouse and jump their bureaucratic hoops. I hope your mum can find a month that works for her. (We don't have to nominate a month, that's a bit much, IMO!)
ReplyDeleteWhen your mum is questioned by the defence attorney, just have her look real mean, and say, "Yeah, I've been waiting my whole life to send someone to the gallows! Put me on the jury!" I'll bet she won't be selected...
ReplyDeleteAt least by nominating a month she'll have done her civic duty.
ReplyDeleteWow, set aside a whole month? I can't imagine you have that many jury trials. Mum hasn't been called in ages and she hopes she doesn't get called for a very long time.
