Bloods

Today was mums day off work and treat Tuesday.   She had a nice pastry for breakfast sitting in the sunshine, and then we had an appointment.  At the new vets.  I was due for my arthritis joint injection and mum wanted me to have my vaccination and I had a couple of mats  on my tummy that needed to be taken off.   The vet was nice and suggested a blood test as it was a while since I had had one.

So we came home and mum had lunch while I sulked in the bedroom.   The vet rung this afternoon and the bloods show some renal failure, but thankfully at the early stages.  I have to now go on special renal biscuits and see the vet again in  a month.  Mum did have a little cry and then got herself up to dish up my feast.  I got extra cuddles tonight too.

  1. Papi you be sure to give your mum a good snuggle to dry her tears. We humans just worried over our sweet kitties everyday. I hope you like those me biscuits so that you eat them like a good girl.

  2. Aw, Poppy, we can understand why your mum had a bit of a cry. She loves you dearly and wants you to be as healthy and happy as possible, for as long as possible. We hope you will eat the food, and we're sending our love and purrs. ♥️

  3. Dear, sweet Poppy. You sound in great shape to me. Tell mum to cheer up. I was in hospital nearly 2 years ago and was told quite bluntly my kidneys looked “old” . After 8 weeks they let me come home but was told I would be on dialysis within a couple of weeks. My renal system is still just fine. 😊 Keep your chin up as no one can always predict the future. You are so lucky to have such a loving, kind mum and your injection will make you feel great. Just look at mum with sad loving eyes whenever you want some treats. I promise that will work. xxxxx♥️🐭🐭🐭

  5. This is regrettable news, Poppy, but my boy Tucker is in renal failure and though a little frail (he's sixteen and diabetic, too, so has some issues that you don't), he is doing well. With your mum's love and care, your life will still be a long and happy one, I know.

  6. I am sorry you have early kidney problems, Poppy. At least it has been caught early. I have had cats in the past with renal failure but they have still lived long and happy lives, one being 24.

  8. I had a big tear & a lump in my throat reading this little Pops. I am sad lately anyway but my furry friends make me sadder. I hope you live a very long life dear Poppy & get to eat lots of feasts. My daughter in law put her elderly cat on those renal biscuits & that cat is the picture of health Honestly. xx

  9. Lots of older kitties have CKD, Poppy. Binga had it for years, and it didn't really affect her quality of life at all.

  10. Poppy, we are sorry you are in the early stages of CKD, but we are glad you at least know, so you can try stuff like those biscuits to help slow its progression. Gracie had it for a long time, and she lived until 20. Hugs.
