Mourning

Mum is in mourning today.  She got up, had a shower and washed her luscious locks.  Then she went to turn her GHDs on.  No go - no red light, no beep beep to say they were ready.  Tears were close, as mum pondered having to go al natural all day.  She has wavy hair with big cowlicks, that go in all different directions.  Due to short arms her hair drying skills are minimal as well.

Luckily she had a chance to pop into town and visit her hairdressers.  The receptionist was a good help in explaining all the types of hair straighteners they had on offer.  Who knew there were so many variaties?  She was a good salesperson, and told mum not to buy the most expensive ones, the middle range ones were just as good.  She was even kind enough to compliment mum on her natural curls when mum was feeling old and dowdy.  Mum doesn't ever fully straighten her hair, but a quick five minute go over, helps the do to settle in one tidy spot for the day.

Mum says it was the icing on top of a not so good day today.  But she managed to turn that frown upside down once she saw this:

  3. OMC, if my hair straightener dies I'll be s-o-l (sh*t out of luck). I need it for my sides and bangs, but oh, I'd love to have wonderful curly hair. LOL.

I just saw that cat yesterday! Co-worker sent me a video link. Crazy. LOL.

  4. As a man, I have to ask you, Poppy, why do women these days like straight hair? We men certainly don't mind a woman with curls. I'm sure your mum looks terrific just as she is.

  5. Glad your Mum got sorted out with her hair thingy. My Mom's hair has a total mind of its own after washing but if she blow dries it and then put some hairspray on, it will behave acceptably. The hair spray seems necessary though she wishes it wasn't, being sticky and all.

  6. My human totally relates to your human's hair problems! She has had to have her hair parted on one side her whole life because of a cowlick. And it waves in the most unflattering places if she does not take a blow dryer to it. She has every Keratin shampoo and conditioner she can get her hands on, rinses her hair in cold water and liberally uses the cold blast button on the dryer... and she is good for maybe one day, as long as there is no humidity!

Enjoy your new gadget. My hair is poker straight and looks horrid all the time. I swear I'm going to cut it all off.

  14. Mum thinks it would be lovely to have curls. We both dislike having our morning routines disrupted by appliances that cannot be depended on. You should see mum when her tea kettle gave up.we kitties always look good. Meow, Jessica

  15. Gee, mum pays to get curls put in her hair. Otherwise it is straight and flat.

  16. Our mum's hair is as strait and flat as a wet dog's. She'd love to have curl, any curl, to her hair!
