Over the Edge

Mum thinks the cat grass must be extra juicy at the neighbours place. Coz, I jump over there quite often. How Rude the introoder cat used to live there, but we haven't seen him in ages so we think he's moved. So now their garden is mine all mine!!

Cleaning out the Closets

Mum has been cleaning out the closets and getting rid of lots of stuff. Pillows and old clothes, some of which she is selling and some of it she is giving to the local charity stores. Luckily where we live has a few charity shops close by, so she doesn't have to lug the stuff far at all.

Spring is a great time for a clear out.

Saturday

Today I helped mum do some chores, before she went out for the day. We had a big storm pass through, it has left about 17,000 homes without power tonight, we hope that everybuddy is safe and warm. We had a cool morning, a sun filled afternoon and then a chilly rainy evening. Down south a lot of snow, so we can't complain.

Mum says it might be good for us to make the bed early and go to bed with a book. Normally on Saturday night she doesn't make the bed til midnight, but it is 8.30am and her eyes are a bit scratchy, so off to bed we go.

Sweet dreams everybuddy.

TGIF

Awww mum says we are glad that it is Friday today. Even though there have been windy rainy bits of today, she has to get out and about and do some jobs tomorrow.
Me, I'll be guarding the house and catching up on my beauty sleeps.

How True

We found this on somebuddy elses site. Mum says it is soooo true, although at the moment I often prefer to sleep in the spare room as it is getting warmer.

Sunbeams

Another sign of spring is the sunbeams streaming into our house. Of course our morning was full of rain, but there have been a couple of dry spots during the day. The morning rain kept mum in bed reading her book for ages, and I snoozed in the spare room.

Mum went to the hairdresser yesterday to get the grey taken out of her hairs. Her hairdresser is very sweet, and in demand, so mum had to book the next two appointments ahead of time, and now knows her hair will be good up until March 2011. Better start saving mum!!

It was a friends birthday last night, so she joined her friends for a nice relaxed dinner full of laughs. She had a tasty lamb, risotto dish that had a fabby rich sauce with it. Meringues with lemon curd and fresh fruit for pudding finished off the tasty meal. Tonight will be plain food eaten at home, but secretly mum thinks she enjoys home cooking more.

Hello Weekend

Mum had soooo much trouble with blogger loading my photo on Friday night, that it is now Saturday!!
The light men fixed the lights on Thursday, but by Friday night we were in the dark again, so she rang the council. Our council is good and somebody answers 24/7.

She had trouble at work today too, as there was a big power cut in the hospital which was a bit scary.

So she has all the lights on in the house tomorrow and better get us off to bed as she has to be up and at the hairdressers in the morning.

Have a great weekend everybuddy.

Light

Last night we had no streetlights in our cul de sac, and in the street leading up to it, so it was very very dark outside. Mum couldn't even take the recycling out, as she was worried she would trip and fall down the steps, even with a torch.

She emailed the council, and they said they would talk to the lighting people, who came around within an hour. However she said, she thinks they just changed the lightbulb outside our house. So mum is wondering what will happen tonight, especially as she is on call. She has got her torch ready, in case she has to go out.

Spring Skies

Spring weather has bought with it some stormy cloudy skies, but a few days with some sunshine and real warmth. Today it bought a couple of little earthquakes to our city, which has put mums nerves a bit on the edge.

Me, I've been relaxing and taking it easy - hope you have too.

Mondayitis

Mum had a bit of Mondayitis today at work. All the talk was about the earthquake, and everybody at works families are ok. Some lost chimneys, and one nice ladies daughter has lost her house, due to the destruction. On the tv news tonight they think that about 100,000 homes had damage to them (that is half of the homes in the city). People were lucky though, with only two serious injuries, and one person dying of a heart attack at the time.

Christchurch is a lovely town with lots of old buildings (for New Zealand), and because many of them were brick or stone, quite a few in the city centre will be demolished in the next few days. Schools and lots of businesses are closed while they get sorted out.

Hope you all have a lovely Monday.

Thank you Friends

Thank you to all of our lovely friends who commented and sent emails to check we were ok. We are all good here, safe and sound. We live quite some distance from Christchurch where the earthquake was, and although mum remembers waking in the night, she does not remember feeling it, although a lot of her friends said it woke them up.

It seems that there has been a lot of damage in Christchurch, but not too many injuries. We hope that everybuddy and their pets are safe, and there are not any more shakes.

Our country gets a lot of earthquakes, so a lot of our buildings are built with safety measures built in, and we try to be prepared. We are lucky though, and don't usually get ones as devastating as Saturdays one.

So thanks again for thinking of us - you're all awesome!!

We're OK

Mum and I wanted to let you all know that we are ok. There was a big earthquake in christchurch, which is about 600km away from us, at 4.38 am this morning. Lots of buildings have problems, and people have been evacuated as there was some flooding, but in our city we never felt anything. This picture is from the front page of the news website.
Thanks for thinking of us !!!

Hello Thunder

Tonight we had thunder and lots of rain as a storm passed over us. So I'm going to curl up on the bed and relax. Hope you all have plans to take it easy at the weekend.

Spring Sun

Yesterday was the first day of spring here, and we were blessed with warm sun and breezes, and mum got all the washing dried on the line.

Today, we got a brisk reminder that winter may not have finished with us, with wind, rain and coldness. Oh well - at least it is on its way.
