Rats

See the trees I am sitting over - and see the shed?  Well mum liked to put left over slices of bread and pieces of fruit on top of the shed for the sparrows.  And those sweet little birds used to sit and wait for their daily feed.  Well when Gdad was down and staying with us, him and mum noticed some funny looking birds jumping around the trees.

They were funny looking already - cos they were rats.  Thats right, rats were climbing up and feasting on our birdie food.  Yuck!!  So now mum isn't sure what to do to feed the birdies.

  1. Rats? Yikes! What about regular bird feeders with seed?

And if you have a compost program where you live, the bread and fruit can go in the compost bin! :-)

  8. It's probably best if your human puts out a bird feeder with seed - something that keeps out other type of creatures.

  10. Poppy, we had a kitty who was a ratter, but they are big and vishus! How about a platform on a slippery pole that the rats can't climb?

  11. Rats are as clever as squirrels when it comes to pilfering birdseed. One one at our big boys and they'd never come back.

  12. Real ratties? Icky, you don't want them hanging around. We only get mousies, no ratties.

The mama is now wondering if rats are coming here, because she is feeding the birdies.... not that we have seen any rats yet... *shudder*

  14. Mum has a suggestion. Do you have a mesh back into which you could put the bread? Then hang it with a thin string that the rats can't crawl down.
